There are some friendships that make you excel, according to debutant director Munish Bhardwaj, and his Moh Maya Money stars have the best of that.
Moh Maya Money is a story about Aman (Ranvir Shorey), who is a real estate broker working in a multinational. Aman often skims money from his company for the want of a better life. His greed leads him to a series of unfortunate events which snowball beyond his control putting his and his wife Divya (Neha Dhupia)’s life in jeopardy. As a solution to the fix he finds himself in, he gets desperate enough to involve his begrudging wife in a white collar crime which entangles completely innocent strangers in it, leading to an end neither could imagine.
Through the film there are many complex scenes and both Ranvir and Neha ensured that they were there for each other, even times when they had the day off.

2014 covered an expansive genre of music with a strong focus on complimenting the respective film’s tone and background rather than opting for safety of conventionalism. Read on to find out which albums. Read on as Bollyspice unveils the top 10 albums of 2014.
10. Kill Dil
The soundtrack of Kill Dil was a labour of love from Shaad Ali, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Gulzar. It is clearly apparent from the brilliant mix of tracks delivered. The orchestrations and melodies employed were some of the best ones from Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The range of vocal artists ranged from the veterans like Sukwinder Singh to novices like Nihara Joshi making the album all the more enjoyable. Moreover, the expansive genre and brilliant renditions (Arjit Singh – ‘Sajde’, Sunidhi Chauhan and Siddharth Mahadevan...

2013 has been a stellar year for soundtracks, with constant innovation and the odd chartbuster that eventually tops your most played list on your iPod. There was a lot of fabulous collaborations like Vishal Bharadwaj and South-African band Umoja for Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola or the full on Southie beats for Chennai Express. There was a lot of regional flavour and experimentation with music directors like A.R. Rahman and Amit Trivedi looking to the sounds of Banaras and Gujarat for their fantastic albums. Whoever says there’s a dearth of good soundtracks, then look no further than our list of top albums of the year!
10. Kai Po Che
Amit Trivedi appears twice on our list, because he proved that quality trumps quality with his three-song album that perfectly conjured up that Gujurati flavour with his consistently inventive stamp. Who could have thought that bagpipes would go seamlessly well with shehnaii...

2013, the extra special year marking the centenary of Hindi Cinema is almost coming at an end.
To celebrate, BollySpice briefly explores the theatrical roots of Bollywood, expanding on the contribution of William Shakespeare, the famous playwright who has continuously intrigued the Indian film industry since the beginning of the Hindi film industry.
We explore selected Bollywood “Romeo and Juliet” interpretations and how they disturbingly reflect South Asian cultural issues related to “love”.
Theatrical Beginnings
When “sound” arrived into the world of Hindi cinema in 1931, it threatened the existence of the Parsi Theatre – a popular culture of performing arts that formed the foundation for what we now call “Bollywood”.
Not only had theatre formed an important foundation, but continues to be reflected through Bollywood – through more ways than one.
Popular Parsi theatrical productions were made into Hindi films. Famous theatre playwrights, as well as singing-dancing theatre performers joined the film industry; dramatical,...

Music composers and songwriters in Mumbai will soon challenge a Mumbai High Court decision that was passed last week in Supreme Court. The verdict says that Indian Performing Right Society Limited (Iprs) that safeguards the copyright of music composers and lyricists is not entitled to claim or demand royalty or license fees from FM Radio channels for the songs and music they broadcast.
They voiced their concerns in a press conference on August 2, 2011 in Mumbai which was attended by Javed Akhtar, Ravi Shankar Sharma (Chairman – Music Composers Association of India), Anand, Vishal Bharadwaj, Sameer Anjaan, Loy (Shankar Ehsaan Loy), Ram Sampat, Jalees Sherwani (President – Film Writers Association), Anand Shrivastava (President – McAi), Milind Shrivastava, Sajid-Wajid, Sulaiman, Lalit Pandit, Surender Sodhi, Aashish Rego and Shameer Tandon.
The decision of the High Court effectively means that there is no copyright incorporated in a sound recording and that it is owned solely by the music label.
