A Yellowstone Actor Has History Playing Different Marvel And DC Characters
Image
The superhero industrial complex has tapped virtually every working actor in Hollywood with many signed to years and years of superhero movies in starring roles and cameo appearances. Others have been tapped for cameos that promise some grand role in the future, but will probably never come to fruition. Another genre of fiction that is also tossing a wide net when it comes to casting? Westerns, particularly Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone" cinematic universe.

Everyone from Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren to Josh Holloway and Rita Wilson have found themselves in the most popular cinematic universe on TV in the last few years. All this being said, there's not a lot of crossover between the two massive industries. Still, the few actors who have found success in both the "Yellowstone" universe and in superhero roles boast not only impressive resumes, but extremely wide audiences. Case in point: Neal McDonough.

McDonough plays Malcolm Beck in "Yellowstone,...

What Happened To Lee Dutton On Yellowstone? His Fate Explained
Image
Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone" boasts its fair share of shocking deaths, some of which befall members of the seemingly invincible Dutton family. For proof, look no further than the season 1 premiere, "Daybreak," which sees Lee Dutton (Dave Annable) -- the family's eldest son and most loyal rancher -- get shot down during a cattle heist gone awry. So, what happened exactly?

"Daybreak" sees the Dutton family's cattle wander into the Broken Skull Reservation, which is run by their then-rival Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham). Given that this clan of cowboys aren't the type of people to let their enemies keep their cattle, John Dutton (Kevin Costner), his sons, and their livestock agents storm into the neighboring territory to reclaim their cows, but the residents of the Broken Skull Reservation are expecting them and all hell breaks loose. Bullets start flying, and Lee is the unfortunate soul who gets caught in the crossfire.

'Yellowstone' Star, 41, Admits to One of the Hardest Parts of Being in Taylor Sheridan's Epic Series
Image
Luke Grimes didn’t plan on returning to the Yellowstone universe—at least, not without a good reason. The 41-year-old actor, best known for playing Kayce Dutton across five seasons of Taylor Sheridan’s modern Western epic, says he was fully prepared to hang up his cowboy hat after the series ended last fall. But as he tells People, saying goodbye to Yellowstone wasn’t as easy as he expected.

“It was seven years of playing a person that I’ll never see again, except for having his hat and jacket in my closet,” Grimes said of the Season 5 finale. “To try to put that show away, it was hard. It was really hard, and I know this is going to sound weird, but it was sort of emotional. It was like losing a family in a way.”

That emotion ran deeper than he anticipated. Grimes recalls the last day...

Taylor Sheridan’s Revenge Against Harvey Weinstein Came 17 Years After He Ruined His Beloved Western
Image
Taylor Sheridan doesn’t take kindly to creative interference. The Yellowstone mastermind doesn’t suffer fools or meddling producers, gladly. Seventeen years after Harvey Weinstein chopped down the director’s cut of Billy Bob Thornton’s All the Pretty Horses, Sheridan is still simmering with resentment.

He calls out the Hollywood machine for turning masterpieces into “mediocre” products, lamenting how Weinstein’s meddling crushed what could have been a majestic Western epic. “For anyone to dedicate that amount of time and energy and passion… and then not be in control of the finished product, I think that’s the resistance,” Sheridan recently told Deadline. He penned and directed Wind River with The Weinstein Company and experienced firsthand the toxic fallout when Weinstein’s empire reportedly imploded amid scandal.

Sheridan’s powerful film risked being swallowed by Weinstein’s disgrace. But he refused to let the film and its vital message fade quietly.

Y: Marshals: Everything We Know About The Yellowstone Procedural Starring Luke Grimes
Image
What Do We Know About Y: Marshals, the upcoming Yellowstone spin-off series focused on Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton? More than you may think. The CBS series is slated to continue where the original Yellowstone left off, but in a direction we have never seen from a Taylor Sheridan series before. From plot, casting news, and more, let’s dive in and look at what is coming up in the new addition to the Yellowstone franchise.

Y: Marshals will be a procedural.

While the term procedural may not be something the general public is familiar with, it represents many series on network television. Procedural refers to any series that follows a law enforcement or military agency as they investigate crimes, while the audience gets to follow along. Think of shows like Law & Order, NCIS, CSI, or any other acronym-titled show. In the case of this Yellowstone spin-off, Y: Marshals will follow Kayce Dutton,...

Taylor Sheridan’s 87% Rt Score Crime Thriller Proves His Next Stop Should Be NCIS: Texas
Image
Taylor Sheridan’s built an empire on chaos and characters who don’t flinch. And his 87% Rotten Tomatoes-rated Mayor of Kingstown proves he knows exactly how to run a crime show with heat and edge. Be it power plays behind prison walls or broken alliances in the streets, Sheridan’s style is tailor-made for expansion.

With CBS now eyeing NCIS: Texas, there’s one clear move: hand it to our guy. He’s already redefined the modern Western and elevated the prison drama. A Texas-set crime procedural with his fingerprints? That could be NCIS like we’ve never seen before.

7 Charming Action-Thrillers Like ‘The Accountant 2’ to Watch Next
Image
“The Accountant 2” is a fun, charming action thriller. It may not be the sequel that fans of its 2016 parent film were expecting, but that is why it works. It doubles down on the electric chemistry between its stars, Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal, to deliver a sequel that has many of the same ingredients as the original “Accountant” but even more heart. As contradictory as it may seem to call a sequel original, “The Accountant 2” is, thanks to its combination of familial drama, intrigue and unsparing, pulse-pounding action, a unique concoction.

There are some films, however, that scratch the same itches as it. Case in point: Here are seven movies like “The Accountant 2” that you should watch next if you loved the film.

“Warrior” (Lionsgate) “Warrior” (2011)

“Warrior” has more in common with “The Accountant 2” than the fact that they were both directed by the same filmmaker,...

Taylor Sheridan Fans Should Add His 2017 Neo-Western Crime Thriller To Their Watchlist
Image
According to most historians, the Wild West ended around the turn of the 20th Century, coinciding with the rise of a new medium that would enshrine its mythos in our popular imagination: Cinema. If the movies of Taylor Sheridan are anything to go by, however, it never truly came to a close; just the frontiers and the protagonists have changed. Few modern filmmakers are as committed to telling gritty new Western stories than Sheridan, and he certainly has the credentials. He grew up on a Texas ranch, loves wearing his big old cowboy hat in photoshoots, and he was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2021. He's as good as anybody who regularly works in the genre today at matching intense showdowns and sudden bursts of violence with an authentic touch of social commentary.

Although Sheridan is perhaps best-known for his TV series "Yellowstone" and its historical spin-offs...

Taylor Sheridan’s Greatest Western Finds New Streaming Home That Depicted the Death of America
Image
We didn’t expect Hell or High Water to punch us in the gut again. Not after all these years. But there we are, watching it now streaming on Fubo, and it hit harder than we remembered…like hearing a familiar song at a funeral. Taylor Sheridan didn’t craft a Western; he sculpted a slow-burn tragedy in denim and dust.

Sure, everyone talks about Yellowstone, Lioness, and Landman like they’re his magnum opus, but they’re just the TV children of a cinematic parent that said more with a worn-out pickup and foreclosure notice than ten seasons ever could. Hell or High Water is a tale about desperation, dignity, and a dying America that still owed people answers. And it’s back not to entertain but to remind you what we’ve buried.

Taylor Sheridan & Jeff Bridges' Underseen 97% Rotten Tomatoes Western Finds a New Streaming Home
Image
Taylor Sheridan has certainly made a name for himself on the small-screen thanks to his work as the creator of the Yellowstone franchise and new favorites, including Landman and Lioness. Because he has such a firm grip on the television industry, some might be missing the scribe’s work behind some of the greatest films of the last decade or more. Luckily, one of his greatest hits, Hell or High Water, is now streaming on Fubo, meaning audiences can take in the Western thriller that features leading performances from Jeff Bridges and Chris Pine without so much as getting off the couch.

If you were worried that a feature-length project might pull Sheridan away from his bread and butter, you can take a sigh of relief knowing that Hell or High Water is as yee-haw as they come, as it centers around two criminals and the law enforcement officers tasked with bringing them to justice.

Poker Face — Hometown Hero — Season 2, Episode 5 Spoiler Recap and Review
Image
Baseball is America’s pastime, but it has also been a godsend for writers and directors. It’s no surprise that Poker Face would take its hijinks to the minors, but “Hometown Hero” spoils us. With guest stars Simon Rex, Carol Kane, and Brandon Perea, “Hometown Hero” is another win for Poker Face.

From ‘Dutton Ranch’ to ‘Y: Marshals’ and beyond: Everything to know about the upcoming ‘Yellowstone’ spinoffs
Image
Yellowstone, the mega-hit neo-Western series from superproducer Taylor Sheridan, came to an end after five seasons in 2024, but the show’s universe continues to expand. There are five publicly announced sequels, prequels, and spinoffs in various stages of development. They’ll follow the prequels that have already aired, 1883 and 1923, as well as Sheridan’s collection of non-Yellowstone shows on Paramount+, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lawmen, Lioness, and Landman. Here’s everything we know so far about each of Sheridan’s various Yellowstone expansions, from the forthcoming to the off in the distance.

Dutton Ranch

The most direct successor to Yellowstone is the sequel series focused on Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) hell-raising daughter, and her husband, tough ranch foreman Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). While an official title has not been announced, Bloomberg reports that the project is tentatively titled Dutton Ranch, and is expected...

Luke Grimes’ ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Sounds Really Bad But Taylor Sheridan Update Hints All’s Not Well at Paramount
Image
Luke Grimes is cool and all, but when I heard he might be getting his own Yellowstone spinoff, my first reaction was: really? Of all the characters to build a new show around, Kayce Dutton wouldn’t have topped my list. And frankly, the concept just doesn’t sound that exciting. What made Yellowstone work was the messy family dynamics and power plays take that away, and what’s left?

To make things worse, Taylor Sheridan’s latest update hints that things aren’t exactly sunshine and roses over at Paramount. If the guy running the Dutton-verse is hitting roadblocks, this spinoff might be in real trouble.

Taylor Sheridan’s Favorite Actor Who Has Appeared in 6 of His Projects Isn’t Jeremy Renner or Jon Bernthal
Image
“There’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.” Leonard Cohen said that, and we believe it was secretly about James Jordan showing up in Taylor Sheridan projects like he has the keys to the backlot.

Yes, if you’re here thinking the crown prince of Sheridan’s casting couch is Jeremy Renner or that Emmy-magnet Jon Bernthal, recalibrate your IMDb radar. The real constant is Jordan; Sheridan’s unsung Swiss Army knife of storytelling. From the subzero nightmares of Wind River to the sweaty, oil-soaked grit of Landman, he has shape-shifted through six of Sheridan’s sagas.

You want range? Jordan’s got you covered – playing everyone from shady lawmen to philosophical cooks, prison guards to comic-relief engineers.

Yellowstone: Everything We Know About Luke Grimes' Kayce Dutton Spin-Off Series
Image
Good news, you "Yellowstone" loving loons. After all the secrets and rumors that have come stumbling out of the bunkhouse, it's now been confirmed that troubled but stupidly heroic Dutton son, Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), is finally getting his own spin-off series following the events of the original show that ended earlier this year. It marks yet another corner of the map to Taylor Sheridan's ever-expanding universe after prequel shows "1883" and "1923" (the latter of which ended on a second season in April), as well as the four other spin-off shows that are in development.

The new show, entitled "Y: Marshals," is set to air on CBS and will follow the next chapter of the youngest Dutton son after he gave up the family home and all the land that came with it. As was foretold back in "1883", Kayce sold the ranch by the acre for $1.25 to...

“It’s more of a thriller”: I’m Not 100% Convinced About ‘Wind River 2’ After Taylor Sheridan Left Me Rattled in the Original
Image
The wind may change direction, but the scars it leaves behind stay rooted. That’s something I’ve believed ever since Wind River carved a quiet yet unsettling place in my head. The 2017 film got under my skin, like a chill that settles in your bones and refuses to leave.

Taylor Sheridan’s debut was emotionally piercing, leaving me equally furious, helpless, and ashamed. Ashamed because the story of Natalie wasn’t unique. Furious because her voice wasn’t the loudest, even in her own story. And helpless because it took outsiders (Cory and Jane) to ‘save the day’.

That tale of Cory Lambert, the tracker trudging through Wyoming’s icy heart to unravel a murder, left me rattled, like a lone wolf howling at a moon that wouldn’t answer. The original shook me to my core, and I’m not 100% convinced about Wind River 2 after Sheridan left me rattled in the original.

Taylor Sheridan Desperately Needed Jeremy Renner’s A-Game for Redemption of His 1st Horror Movie That He Absolutely Hates
Image
You know how some people try on an outfit, take one look in the mirror, and go, “Yeah, nope, that’s not me”? That’s basically how Taylor Sheridan feels about his first directorial effort, Vile. In his words, it’s a “bad horror movie,” and to be honest, he’s not wrong.

He is someone who gave us Yellowstone and Wind River. But how will you feel having your first movie pop up like a pimple on an otherwise flawless face? It must sting a little, right? However, sometimes a stumble leads to a sprint.

Sheridan may have begun his filmmaking journey with a few awkward steps, but Wind River? That was the marathon where he proved he could run with the big dogs. And let’s not forget the ace up his sleeve: Jeremy Renner. The Marvel star didn’t just show up for a paycheck; he brought...

After 7 Years, I Realize Kevin Costner Was Right In the ‘Yellowstone’ Plot That Taylor Sheridan Changed Against His Wish
Image
Yellowstone is widely recognized as one of those iconic television sagas that were downright enjoyable from the start and constantly held elements that would have viewers captivated to the core.

But while it had Kevin Costner leading most of it, that didn’t stay when the Western neared its end, pretty much falling apart with the actor’s exit.

Yellowstone. | Credits: Paramount Network.

While originally, the reported cause behind the same was Taylor Sheridan’s reported feud with Costner at the end, it turns out the issue may have been deeper. This is because the pair clashed when it came to one particular plotline involving Costner’s John Dutton III, which the showrunner changed against the actor’s will while Costner was right with his opinion.

‘1923’ Co-Stars React to Their Fates and Momentous Impact of a Taylor Sheridan Platform
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from the penultimate episode of 1923 season two, “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters.”]

The penultimate season two episode of 1923 delivered death after death. A whopping seven bodies were left in wake of the sixth episode from creator Taylor Sheridan, titled “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters.” Everything that happened will barrel the Western saga into what is sure to be a propulsive season finale, but let’s stop for a moment and mourn what was lost.

Michael Spears has been playing Runs His Horse for two seasons on the Yellowstone prequel series, with Jeremy Gauna inheriting his role as Pete Plenty Clouds after the untimely death of original star Cole Brings Plenty. Cole died about two months after the season one finale released. (A cause of death was not revealed.) Yellowstone's Newest Spinoff Marks a Major First for the Franchise

Quick LinksKayce Dutton's New Yellowstone Spinoff Marks a Major Franchise FirstYellowstone Is Setting Up a Larger Television UniverseWhat Will Kayce Dutton's Yellowstone Spinoff Be About?

Even after the flagship series ended last year, Yellowstone is still expanding in the form of new spinoffs following iconic characters. Taylor Sheridan's neo-Western television universe has captivated audiences for the better part of a decade, following the turbulent Dutton family as they fight to protect their ancestral ranch, which has often been the target of greedy land developers looking to make a quick buck. Charting the Dutton family saga for over a century, Yellowstone depicts the beginning and end of their relationship with the land, but now, the franchise looks to move beyond its central ranch to focus more on the characters that make up its terrific cast.

It was recently reported that Taylor Sheridan is developing a Yellowstone spinoff following Luke Grimes...

‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Starring Luke Grimes Eyed at CBS
Image
CBS is considering expanding the world of “Yellowstone,” according to a report from Puck. The network is eyeing a procedural that will star Luke Grimes, who previously starred in the Paramount Network hit as Beth’s brother Kayce. Little else is known about the potential series.

CBS declined to comment on this story.

This isn’t entirely unexpected. Though “Yellowstone” is a Paramount Network original, CBS experimented with airing network-edited versions of the cable drama to offset its lack of new original programming during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Nearly 22 million viewers tuned in to CBS to watch at least one episode of the Taylor Sheridan drama in 2023 alone.

If this upcoming drama were to happen, this new show would be the latest “Yellowstone” spinoff Paramount has announced. Last December, the company announced that it was moving ahead on a show that would center around Kelly Reilly’s Beth...

Yellowstone: 1923 Season 2 Episode 5 Teases Another Major Character's Death
Image
This article contains spoilers for "1923" season 2, episode 5, "Only Gunshots to Guide Us."

Taylor Sheridan's "1923" season 2 fixes one of the biggest mistakes on "Yellowstone" by actually giving its Native American characters meaningful storylines. While "Yellowstone" touches upon the displacement of tribes in the United States, the lack of meaningful arcs for Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and other Indigenous characters leaves a lot to be desired in terms of getting the point across. "1923," meanwhile, boasts an emotional storyline about Thomas' ancestor, Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves), and her quest for freedom after going on the run for killing some abusive nuns who had it coming.

Unfortunately, intriguing sagas aren't always happy, as Teonna's boyfriend, Pete Brings Plenty (Jeremy Gauna), might be dead following the events of "1923" season 2, episode 5. The manhunt for Teonna, led by the sadistic Marshal Kent (Jamie McShane), has produced some of the darkest moments in...

1 John Dutton Line Makes Me Wish Taylor Sheridan Would Make This Yellowstone Spinoff
Image
The Yellowstonefranchise is at a turning point, as Taylor Sheridan's neo-Western television universe searches for new stories to tell after the conclusion of its flagship series. Already, the franchise has begun to expand with multiple prequel series that chronicle earlier generations of the Dutton family in the 19th and 20th centuries. However, as these series begin to catch up with the present day, Sheridan is beginning to find new stories to tell after the events of Yellowstone, including in upcoming spinoffs like The Madison, 6666, and Beth and Rip's untitled series. However, one major Yellowstone character is conspicuously absent from these plans.

Kayce Dutton is one of Yellowstone's best characters, who struggles to lead his own young family without becoming the same overbearing tyrant that his father was. Portrayed by Luke Grimes, Kayce has a compelling and emotional storyline throughout Yellowstone's five seasons, but there may still...

The Yellowstonefranchise lives on, even after the flagship series ended late last year. Taylor Sheridan's hit neo-Western series has now expanded into a full-blown television universe, complete with prequels, spinoffs, and sequels that will help round out the larger story of the Dutton family. Will There Be a ‘1923’ Season 3? Everything We Know
Image
The Yellowstone universe is expanding with 1923 Season 2, which kicked off on February 23 on Paramount+. The second Yellowstone origin story tracks a new generation of the Dutton family, led by Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren), who took over the Yellowstone Dutton ranch established by Jacob’s brother, James (Tim McGraw), and his wife, Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill), in 1883. Jacob and Cara took nephews Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) and John Dutton (James Badge Dale) in as their own after James and Margaret’s deaths in addition to inheriting the ranch. They’ve been the land’s loyal stewards for decades, but Season 1 saw the ranch under threat of being taken over by Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) through a shady property tax scheme. The series also tracks another ancestor of a Yellowstone mainstay: Aminah Nieves plays Teonna Rainwater, ancestor to Gil Birmingham‘s Thomas Rainwater. In Season 2, Teonna is on the...

Everything We Know About a Potential Yellowstone Season 6

The future of Yellowstone Season 6 has been shrouded in uncertainty and mystery. Paramount once made it clear that the show wouldn't return for another season, and the door remained shut until Season 5 B's promotional material started sending mixed signals to fans, hinting that the series finale might not even be in Season 5.Meanwhile, reports about potential spinoffs and cast returns have flooded fans, but hardly anything is confirmed.

1923 is returning for another season to tackle the Dutton family's history. At one point, the spinoff series The Madison was a direct sequel to Yellowstone. However, the story's change of direction in focusing on a new family leaves the Dutton family's post-Yellowstone fate in the air. With the rumor that a Beth and Rip spinoff could potentially pick up where Season 5B left off, many fans wonder what Yellowstone's future looks like now that the Season 5 finale is out.

While "1923" can be criticized for repurposing some unpopular "Yellowstone" storylines, the prequel series is still one of Taylor Sheridan's best shows to date. "Yellowstone" lost its way as the seasons progressed, mostly due to plots that went nowhere or contained holes large enough to ride a wagon train through. The show's inability to live up to one of the franchise's main themes is an egregious error, but "1923" is doing a great job of fixing this shortcoming.

Sheridan's "Yellowstone" franchise deals with the displacement of Native Americans in the United States, but the titular series fails to explore the theme with any substance. For proof, look no further than the journey of Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham), who became an afterthought in favor of more Dutton-centric drama throughout that show's five seasons. The last installment even...

1 Upcoming Yellowstone Spinoff Will Break a Major Franchise Trend
Image
Quick LinksOne Upcoming Yellowstone Spinoff Goes Beyond the Dutton Family SagaIs Moving Away From the Duttons a Good Thing for Yellowstone? What to Expect From 6666

The Yellowstonefranchise is getting bigger--and in some unexpected ways. Taylor Sheridan's hit neo-Western television universe follows the complicated Dutton family, ranchers who will do anything to protect their land, throughout multiple generations, charting their rise and their fall with over a century of storytelling. The flagship series kicked off the franchise with a terrific five-season run, which came to an end late last year. However, Yellowstone's series finale is far from the final word in Sheridan's ongoing story.

The popular television franchise is set to continue with multiple Yellowstone spinoffs in the pipeline. As 1923 wraps up its second and final season, a series set shortly thereafter, 1944 aims to bridge the gap between the prequel and Yellowstone. Meanwhile, a spinoff following Rip Wheeler and...

Is 1923 Season 2 Lowkey Setting Up Another Yellowstone Spin-Off Series?
Image
This article contains mild spoilers for "1923."

Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone" franchise is the prize horse that keeps on giving. As of this writing, it's produced three shows in total, with even more spin-offs on the way. These include a series about Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler's (Cole Hauser) post-"Yellowstone" adventures, "The Madison," which stars the incredible Michelle Pfeiffer, and "6666," which could bring back two fan-favorite characters from the main series. Sheridan's universe just won't stop expanding, and "1923" Season 2 might have just provided another avenue for the franchise to grow.

This second installment of "1923" sees Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves), Runs His Horse (Michael Spears), and Pete Plenty Clouds (Cole Brings Plenty) on the run from the authorities and some angry religious zealots, with their perilous journey taking them to the Ja Ranch in Texas. The ranch and its occupants look set to factor into the upcoming episodes,...

Wind River is a monumental piece of film history for more than one reason. It is not only Taylor Sheridan’s first directorial feature film but also The Weinstein Company’s last movie before going defunct in 2018. As for the film itself, it puts every generic Hollywood movie to shame on the basis of its plot, characters, setting, directorial prowess, and socio-political themes.

Sheridan has gained credibility among fans and critics alike for unapologetically shedding light on difficult subjects that Hollywood usually balks at. While he already has more than a dozen projects under his belt as a screenwriter in just a decade, the frontier trilogy remains Sheridan’s best work to date.

‘1923’ Star Aminah Nieves Explains How Season 2 Honors the Late Cole Brings Plenty
Image
Aminah Nieves and Cole Brings Plenty had ended the first season of 1923 with new opportunities for their characters, Teonna Rainwater and Pete Plenty Clouds, and their blossoming love story.

The first season of the hit Yellowstone prequel series was a breakout one for Nieves as it tracked her Indigenous character, Teonna, and her epic journey escaping a 1923-set Indian assimilation boarding school run by the Catholic Church where she was abused.

After everything she endured, the season ended with her reuniting with her father (played by Michael Spears) and beginning to fall in love with the son of the man who helped save her, Pete Plenty Clouds (played by the late Cole Brings Plenty). Her final scene featured the three of them riding off to Wyoming in hopes of escaping the priest (Sebastian Roché) and other men who are now hunting her in season two, which returned after two years on Sunday.

Taylor Sheridan’s Body of TV Work, From ‘Yellowstone’ to ‘Landman’ | Photos
Image
Taylor Sheridan took Hollywood by surprise when “Yellowstone” quietly became one of the biggest TV hits of the last decade. The monster success of that show even convinced Paramount to reverse course on a plan to turn Paramount Network, where the neo-Western airs, into a movies-only channel.

But no one is surprised now, as Sheridan has since created a sprawling TV empire for the studio centered on Paramount+. Alongside “Yellowstone” spinoffs “1883” and “1923,” the hit Sylvester Stallone drama “Tulsa King,” Jeremy Renner’s small town noir series “Mayor of Kingstown,” the biographical drama “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” starring David Oyelowo and Dennis Quaid, “Special Ops: Lioness” with Zoe Saldaña and “Landman” starring Billy Bob Thornton prove Sheridan is no flash in the pan.

Read on for a look at Taylor Sheridan’s television body of work — so far.

“Absolutely nothing to do with the plot”: Taylor Sheridan’s Bizarre Logic Earned His $37.8 Million Film an Oscar Nomination but Contributed to Yellowstone’s Downfall
Image
We saw Taylor Sheridan’s peak writing in his movies and his most popular Western drama, Yellowstone. However, we unfortunately saw a slow descent in quality in Sheridan’s works. The Yellowstone finale was nowhere near as enjoyable as the first few seasons. Some fans have started to point out that even the initial seasons had some glaring problems that we conveniently ignored in his writing.

One of the major issues with Sheridan’s writing in Yellowstone in its earlier seasons was his addition of irrelevant plot points that took the story nowhere. These were either storylines with irrelevant character details in them or just plot points he had to abandon completely for the sake of budget.

Yellowstone’s Mind-Boggling Connection to ‘House of Cards’ Before Their Fates Became Tragically Similar
Image
There was a time when House of Cards was the crown jewel of Netflix’s original programming. A dark, twisted, and deliciously Machiavellian political drama, it was the show that proved streaming services could compete with prestige cable networks like HBO.

It had everything, sharp writing, a powerhouse cast, and a gripping look at the underbelly of American politics. But as the seasons wore on, the magic began to fade. Whether it was the increasingly outlandish plot twists, a sense of creative exhaustion, or, let’s be honest, the controversy surrounding Kevin Spacey, House of Cards went from a must-watch TV to a cautionary tale of how not to end a beloved series.

10 Movies You Don’t Realize Are Westerns At First
Image
The Western is undoubtedly one of the great foundational genres in the history of cinema. As such, its influence goes beyond Western movies proper — be they classic Western movies from the 1950s and 1960s or modern neo-Westerns — and spreads to all other genres, shaping the way certain scenes are shot or how particular Western genre tropes are used in developing plots.

Some Western-adjacent movies are easier to spot than others, neo-Westerns especially because while they rework some of the genre's most frequent tropes, they're usually still set in the American West and generally feel very Western. Other movies, however, simply pick and choose some Western elements to weave into their stories that might be surprising to audiences when pointed out. However, all have the potential to delight and move audiences with how they twist and remake the recurring themes of the Western genre, to say something more about the modern day.

“I wanted him badly after seeing Yellowstone”: X-Men ‘97 Creator Had to Convince an Acting Legend After Kevin Feige Mistreated Him in ‘Thor 4’ Badly
Image
Beau DeMayo had a tough time at Marvel, as was evident by the very public falling out that the X-Men ’97 writer had with Marvel Studios. However, the writer has now come out with the story of another actor that Marvel had mistreated, despite his legendary status in Hollywood.

X-Men ’97 || Marvel Animation

Gil Birmingham, known for his amazing work on Yellowstone and then some, found his part removed from Thor: Love and Thunder, where the actor was set to play a Native American god. However, Birmingham was not made aware of the cut until he appeared at the premiere of the film. Beau DeMayo revealed the hoops that he had to jump through to get the actor back onboard, despite his falling out with Marvel Studios.

Beau DeMayo Says X-men '97 Episode 4 Felt "Off" Because Marvel Handed It Over To What If...?'s Editor
Image
X-Men '97 received highly positive reviews and was widely embraced by the majority of fans. Some episodes were better than others, but one instalment in particular stood out as a low point of the season for a lot of viewers.

Episode 4, "Motendo; Lifedeath - Part 1," featured a mostly self-contained Jubilee adventure along with the first part of a Storm/Forge focused story which was supposed to build towards a romantic relationship forming between the characters.

Unfortunately, this part of the episode felt very rushed, with complaints that the connection between Ororo and the mystical mutant inventor seemed forced. "Lifedeath - Part 1" also introduced Storm's demonic Adversary, a bird-like creature who arrives near the end of the episode with hardly any explanation.

In the thread below, former showrunner Beau DeMayo claims that the reason this episode felt so "off" is because the show's co-executive producer (we assume he's referring to Victoria Alonso) "hated" his original idea,...

All 4 Characters Taylor Sheridan Plays In His Own TV Shows & Movies
Image
Though he's better known for creating prestige TV shows and movies, Taylor Sheridan has also played four characters in the projects he wrote. Before Taylor Sheridan wrote his shows and movies, Taylor Sheridan was an actor in his own right. He starred in a few notable projects, like Sons of Anarchy, where he played David Hale, and got quite a bit of experience in front of the camera. He's also used that experience in his own shows, as he's become one of many recurring actors in Sheridan's shows. Over the years, Sheridan has had small roles in four of his own movies and shows.

Most of Sheridan's shows include big casts filled with prominent actors, so his cameos can often fly under the radar. For example, the cast of Landman includes Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, and Demi Moore, and Sheridan is exceptionally skilled at securing big names to star in his projects.

Taylor Sheridan: “I was judged not for my race but for their race” on Facing Racism That Inspired the Best Neo-Western of the Last Decade
Image
Taylor Sheridan’s journey to crafting one of the decade’s most impactful neo-westerns stemmed from a deeply personal experience with racism — only, it wasn’t about his own identity. Sheridan reflected on moments where he wasn’t judged for who he was but rather for how others viewed different races.

That perspective hit hard and planted the seeds for a storytelling approach that challenged stereotypes and confronted harsh realities.

Taylor Sheridan's 'Hell or High Water' Becomes a Streaming Hit
Image
The ending of Yellowstone may have left a bad taste in some people's mouths, but there are undoubtedly still a legion of Taylor Sheridan fans out there who still love his work. The filmmaker is arguably at his best when writing film scripts, as evidenced by Sicario, Wind River, and Hell or High Water. That latter film is arguably his most acclaimed script, garnering a massive 97% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 88% audience rating. The film earned Sheridan an Oscar nomination for his script, and was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Editing, and Best Supporting Actor, with that nod going to star Jeff Bridges. Now Hell or High Water is a big streaming hit eight years after its release.

The Western heist film stars Bridges alongside Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Gil Birmingham, Dale Dickey, and Sheridan himself, and was directed by David Mackenzie. Its plot synopsis reads as...

Does Tate Dutton Die On Yellowstone?
Image
Spoilers for "Yellowstone" to follow.

"1883" predicted the ending of "Yellowstone" when tribal chief Spotted Eagle (Graham Greene) told James Dutton (Tim McGraw) that his family's land would return to the Native American people in seven generations. "Yellowstone" ultimately reveals that Tate Dutton (Brecken Merrill) is the family's seventh-generation son, and the prophecy comes true in the end.

While the aforementioned "1883" scene suggests that Tate will be at the center of a violent land dispute, it turns out to be a peaceful transaction. "Yellowstone" season 5 ends with Tate alive and well, though the same can't be said about other characters.

At the same time, the son of Monica (Kesley Asbille) and Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) had some close calls with death during his childhood, having come up against Mother Nature, hired assassins, and other nefarious threats. So, with that in mind, let's take a look at the times Tate stared...

“It was not a well managed brand”: Paramount’s Greed for Cash Is Ruining Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Yellowstone’ Legacy Even Further
Image
Yellowstone had established a fair reputation for Taylor Sheridan and itself when it first launched to the screens with the Dutton family heading it. But that reputation seems to be downgrading with new and more flaws that keep erupting with that universe. While it initially started with a final season that failed to appease many, its lifestyle brand is further adding fuel to the fire.

What started as a brand that could have been translated seamlessly and successfully into a broad range of high-quality, cohesive products actually couldn’t quite live up to the mark, disappointing many. If anything, it seems like Paramount’s greed for cash simply had it tainting this Western’s legacy even further as even fans ended up deeming it a not well-managed brand.
