For Hallmark's A Paris Proposal, Alexa PenaVega returned to the city of lights to film for the first time since she starred in Spy Kids 3.

HBO has officially renewed the workplace drama Industry just one month after the season two finale aired. Season two of the popular series debuted in August 2022 and sits at 96 fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Mickey Down and Konrad Kay created the series and serve as writers and executive producers. Writer Jami O’Brien, Jane Tranter, David P. Davis, Ryan Rasmussen, and Ben Irving also executive produce.

In 1980, the auspiciously named first baseman Willie Mays Aikens made baseball history when he hit two home runs in two World Series games, a feat that wasn’t repeated until 2009. That year, the Kansas City Royals player was second in home runs and RBIs only to teammate, friend and future Hall of Famer, George Brett.

Directed by Marcel Sarmiento, “The Royal” isn’t obsessed with Aikens’ on-the-field triumphs. Instead — with a script by Gregory W. Jordan, based on the 2012 book he co-wrote with Aiken, “Willie Mays Aikens: Safe at Home” — the movie recounts what happened to the major league slugger after he served 14 years for crack cocaine possession and distribution.

In 1994, under the inequitable federal sentencing guidelines, Aikens was sentenced to more than 20 years for possession with intent to sell 50 grams of crack cocaine. (He’d have had to be in possession of five kilos of powdered coke to receive a similar sentence.

Drew Barrymore, Tamron Hall and Scott Evans are among the stars set to present at the Daytime Emmy Awards on June 24.

Laurie and Frisbee, along with Pastor Chuck Smith (Grammer), open the doors of Smith’s languishing church to an unexpected revival by way of rock and roll, newfound love, and a twist of faith leading to a Jesus Revolution that changed the world. Franklin will play Josiah, a New York news reporter covering a story on the magnitude of the movement unfolding.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has made an appointment with Dr. Strangelove, casting Body of Proof alum Nic Bishop in an homage to the dark 1964 feature comedy.

On paper, Apple’s twisty crime drama series, “Truth be Told,” reads like a win, given its top-to-bottom stellar cast and creator/showrunner Nichelle Tramble Spellman’s pedigree. Undoubtedly its greatest strength, the performances certainly help elevate otherwise pedestrian material, although not nearly enough to earn the “prestige” label that Apple aims for with its first limited series. The ensemble keeps it afloat, even if it never quite meets the expectations set for itself.

Vertical Entertainment has acquired North American rights from NeoClassics Films to “The Lears,” starring Bruce Dern in a modern-day interpretation of William Shakespeare’s “King Lear,” Variety has learned exclusively.

The film also stars Anthony Michael Hall, Sean Astin, Aly Michalka, Nic Bishop and Victoria Smurfit. Vertical is planning a day and date platform release on Feb. 15 in 10 markets.

Written and directed by Carl Bessai, “The Lears” premiered in 2017 at the Nashville Film Festival. Smurfit recently won the Irish Film & TV Academy Award for best supporting actress for her role in the film.

The cast of White Collar got a chance to wrap up their series with a final short season but Covert Affairs won't get that chance. USA Network has cancelled the series after five seasons, leaving fans with plenty of questions and no season six.

Tonight, USA Network airs the series finale of White Collar and fans could also be seeing the end of Covert Affairs as well. The latter series hasn't been renewed for a sixth season yet and the show's dropped way down in the ratings.

On Covert Affairs, operatives Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) and Auggie Anderson (Chris Gorham) work together in the CIA's Domestic Protection Division (Dpd). The show's cast also includes Kari Matchett, Peter Gallagher, Hill Harper, and Nicholas Bishop.

The fourth season of Covert Affairs averaged 2.27 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The current season has been averaging 1.53 million and a 0.3 ratings -- a drop of 49% in viewership. It's USA's lowest-rated scripted series in the demo.

"It's a classic Covert Affairs episode in that there's high stakes, we're abroad, they're operating without a net, and they're up against a tremendously savvy adversary," co-creator Matt Corman says, referring to the Russian Vega assassins who want Belenko dead.
