Price hikes. Monthly content removals. First season cancelations. In some way or another, I’ve come to just ignore all those deplorable acts from Netflix. But they just had to up the ante, didn’t they? They were sneaky about it this time, too. Instead of doing something on the service itself (which every subscriber would eventually come to see), they put the worst of spins on a new addition to its content library. On February 7 — seven months after it was pulled from Max — A Different World was finally able to be streamed again thanks to Netflix.
Once I heard that all six seasons of The Cosby Show spinoff were available to watch (thanks to MovieWeb news reporter Heath McKnight), I went straight to my Roku and loaded up the Netflix app. You might think I was overreacting. It’s just a television show, after all. But for me, both...

All six seasons of the beloved TV series, A Different World, are now streaming on Netflix. The show debuted in 1987 and was a spin-off of the immensely popular The Cosby Show and season one starred Lisa Bonet as Denise Huxtable as she attended the fictional Hillman College, a Historically Black College (Hbcu) in Virginia. The show was willing to tackle issues such as HIV / AIDS, apartheid, domestic violence, and more.
Bonet left the show after the first season due to a pregnancy with Lenny Kravitz, and the focus turned to Dwayne Wayne, a math genius played by Kadeem Hardison, and Whitley Gilbert, played by Jasmine Guy. Despite the main character departing, A Different World grew in popularity and lasted six seasons until the show ended in 1993. Also, in the second season, Debbie Allen, producer and director and Howard University alumni, focused on making the show more authentic to an Hbcu experience.

It can feel that Robert Clouse must have made a faustian pact back when he helmed “Enter the Dragon”. For all of that film's iconic success, he seemed doomed to be forever searching to recapture it to slowly diminishing returns. From “Game of Death” to “The Battle Creek Brawl”, Golden Harvest would return to him frequently when co-producing stateside. So it was no surprise in 1990 that they would hire him one last time. Eureka Entertainment brings those final features to blu ray and once again Cynthia Rothrock throws down in “China O'Brien”.
