'Righteous Kill' Starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro Is the Best Thriller for 'Dexter' Fans
Image
Dexter — a punchy indictment of all-too-common prosecutorial failures — remains as stingingly relevant as ever. For lovers of tales about clever, meticulous, and oft-weird characters, the show will never expire. And things are seemingly getting better. The crime drama’s fans never thought they’d have it this good, considering how poorly things ended the first time around. Debra’s death and Dexter’s happy ending arc in the finale left a bad taste in fans’ mouths. Beyond that, the final season, in general, was considered weak by most critics, scoring 35% on Rotten Tomatoes (the lowest for any season). Thankfully, the brilliant minds at Showtime have made serious efforts to write the wrongs.

Brazil smash Tunisia, Argentina beat Jamaica in friendlies
Image
Paris, Sep 28 (Ians) Raphinha scored twice and Neymar converted a penalty as Brazil cruised past Tunisia 5-1, while Lionel Messi helped Argentina beat Jamaica 3-0 in pre-World Cup international friendlies on Tuesday.

In Paris, Brazil took the lead in the 10th minute with a header from Barcelona forward Raphinha, assisted by Casemiro. Seven minutes later, Montassar Talbi’s header equalised for Tunisia.

However, Richarlison helped Brazil restore their lead in the 18th minute and Neymar extended the advantage with a penalty on the half-hour. Before the halftime break, Raphinha slotted home to register his second goal to make it 4-1, Xinhua reports. Brazil kept up their domination in the second half. In the 74th minute, Pedro sealed the win for the Selecao with a powerful volley.

Brazil, the world No. 1 side in the latest FIFA rankings, have been drawn in World Cup Group G with Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon.

Jocko Sims Says Reynolds’ Secret Will Come Out in ‘New Amsterdam’ Season 4 (Video)
Image
New Amsterdam’s fourth season sees the brilliant, straight-laced Doctor Reynolds (Jocko Sims) in a tricky position. Always on the lookout for the woman he’s going to settle down with, Reynolds took a left turn last season when he fell for the entrancing Dr. Lyn Malvo (Frances Turner)…who also happens to be married. Despite her open marriage, their fling turned more serious, and was given the ultimate twist in the season finale when Reynolds met and was promoted by a surgeon at the hospital named Dr. Claude Baptiste (Andre B. Blake), who turned out to be Malvo’s husband. “What’s interesting about Dr. Reynolds is he’s always been very structured. He has his life planned out. He wants to have his woman, his family, and the traditional thing, but clearly he’s found himself a bit in over his head,” Sims tells TV Insider. But whether...

Tonight In NYC – ActNow: New Voices in Black Cinema Kicks Off 2010 With “Inside A Change”
Well, it’s that time again… the first ActNow: New Voices in Black Cinema in partnership with BAMcinématek screening event of 2010, and I hope you can certainly make it!

To kick this off this year, we will be screening a feature film titled Inside A Change, which was profiled on this blog last year. I was intrigued enough by what I read about it, and the trailer at the time, to check it out, which I did, when it played at the HBO New York Latino Film Festival last summer, where it happened to win the Best Film Award.

Synopsis: About to serve 180 days in prison for a first-time offense, Chris is invited home for dinner by his mom where he finds his younger brother following in his footsteps and his older brother disowning him. With his family falling apart, Chris is forced to re-examine his life and how he...
