Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts will lead a new production unit for ABC News Studios, with a dedicated staff and plans to produce nonfiction specials, series and documentaries for the network, Hulu and Disney+.
The network said the new unit will expand her current production portfolio. She launched the production company Rock’n Robin Productions in 2014.
Roberts said in a statement that the new unit “will be focused on heartfelt storytelling that reveals the mosaic of humanity.”
Roberts’s first project is a sit down interview with Kerry Washington, tied to the release of her memoir, Thicker Than Water. The primetime special edition of 20/20 will air on Sunday at 10 p.m. Et, and will be posted to Hulu the next day.
