- He became established as an actor and singer in Berlin, and finally he was spotted for the film business. His first movie was the silent film "Das schöne Mädel" (1923).
- He became a demanded support actor of distinguished characters during the sound film era of the 30s and he took part in numerous well-known movies.
- The actor Hermann Blass attended an education as an actor and singer and he started his career in 1909 as a singer. It soon followed engagements at theaters and operas in different cities, among others in Berlin from 1918.
- His career came to an abrupt end in Germany and Austria with the rise of the National Socialism.
- As a Jew he had to leave Europe and he emigrated to the USA. There he earned his living with small appearances on little stages and he was able to act a last time in front of the camera for "Overture to Glory" (1940). He died one year later at the age of only 53.
