‘Hatchet for the Honeymoon’ – Mario Bava Giallo Movie Was Underrated and Ahead of Its Time
Image
Hatchet for the Honeymoon doesn’t behave like other gialli. This Italian-Spanish movie does something unconventional at the beginning; the identity of the killer is revealed to the audience. This almost forgotten movie was that creative reset, though it wouldn’t be until years later that everyone better appreciated this late entry in Bava’s unique oeuvre.

After taking a meat cleaver to a young bride and groom on a moving train, Stephen Forsyth’s character introduces himself. Not only is he a “madman, a dangerous murderer,” 30-year-old John Harrington is the movie’s protagonist. “I am a paranoiac,” he narrates during his morning rituals. From there John confesses to killing five brides and hiding their bodies,...

Tom McCarthy to Write and Possibly Direct Tommysaurus Rex Adaptation
Tom McCarthy is best known for writing and directing small-scale dramedies like Win Win and The Station Agent, but he may soon be adding “comic book movie” to his resume. McCarthy has been tapped to write with an eye to direct an adaptation of the Doug Tennapel graphic novel Tommysaurus Rex for Universal Pictures. The studio has been trying to get the project off the ground for some time, and the story revolves around a boy who moves in with his grandfather for the summer after losing his pet dog. When he discovers a Tyrannosaurus Rex in a cave, his life (obviously) changes and he must prove to the townspeople that the giant dinosaur means no harm. Hit the jump for more. Per Heat Vision, McCarthy will co-write the script for Tommysaurus Rex with John Bland, and the family adventure story marks a sharp departure for the filmmaker as a director.

The Visitor's Tom McCarthy Is Going Dino-Big With Adaptation Of Tommysaurus Rex
Actor-turned-filmmaker Tom McCarthy had one of the greatest directorial debuts of the modern age with 2003.s solid comedic drama The Station Agent, and though he only has two other films under his belt since (with one on the way), he.s a storyteller whose work is impossible to get enough of. His next project looks like it will take all the heart and emotion of his earlier works and will scale it up a bit by adding a huge dinosaur. McCarthy has signed on to write Universal.s long-gestating big screen adaptation of Tommysaurus Rex, the 2004 graphic novel from Earthworm Jim creator Doug TenNapel. McCarthy is crafting this story with John Bland while also considering taking over directorial duties, which would make this movie about as credible as it could get. Published by Image Comics, Tommysaurus Rex follows Ely, a young boy who goes to his grandfather.s house for...
