New Savage Wolverine Series Gives Logan His Most "Gruesome and Grisly" Enemy Yet
Image
Wolverine faces grotesque body horror monsters in the new Savage Wolverine series, pushing his limits in bloody brawls. Marvel's Infinity Comic format gives room for creators to explore real-life issues alongside over-the-top violence. Townsfolk are transformed by a radio show spreading conspiracy theories, reflecting real-world radicalization threats.

In a newly announced Wolverine series, Logan is going to be facing down his most disgusting enemy ever. From an all-star creative team, this digital comic promises to push Wolverine to his limits. Shockingly, this story also has relevance to real life issues, even with its brand of over-the-top violence.

Marvel has announced the new Savage Wolverine: Infinity Comic miniseries, a digital-only action-horror book that sees Wolverine facing down disgusting body horror monsters in bloody brawls. The 8-part Infinity Comics series is written by Tom Bloom (Kill 6 Billion Demons), drawn by Devmalya Pramanik (Vengeance of the Moon Knight) and Guillermo Sanna (X-Men Unlimited), and colored by Java Tartaglia.

Swan Song review – Udo Kier gets on the pantsuit as haughty hairdresser
Udo Kier 2023
There are plenty of laughs in this bittersweet drama as a retired stylist makes his way across town to do the hair and makeup of a deceased and disagreeable client

The price of admission, as they say, is justified by the sight of legendary German actor Udo Kier in a Dynasty-era lime-green pantsuit, heels, sunglasses, a rakishly inclined hat and a More cigarette smouldering between his lips. In another of his arrestingly unpredictable career-swerves, Kier now teeters on a knife-edge between throwaway camp humour and sentimental sorrow, playing Pat Pitsenbarger, a character based on a real-life figure from director Todd Stephens’s Ohio home town.

Pat is a retired hairdresser, now in a care home; he is recovering from a stroke, still alert, although secretly addicted to his cigarettes and an obsessive habit of folding paper napkins into the kind of small square shape that used to go under highball...

A Fabulous Udo Kier Gets the Role of His Lifetime in the Bittersweet Comedy ‘Swan Song’
Image
You haven’t lived until you’ve seen Udo Kier in drag, outfitted in an electrically engineered faux-candelabra atop his head, lip-syncing to Robyn’s all-time anthem for the lonely “Dancing on My Own.” The German actor has played everyone from Count Dracula in Paul Morrissey’s “Blood of Dracula,” to Jack the Ripper and Dr. Jekyll for Walerian Borowczyk, to Adolf Hitler (at least three times), and has served as the muse for Lars von Trier many times over. But in Todd Stephens’ “Swan Song,” a dark comedy that totters to and fro the campy and the melancholic with wincing laughs and real pain.

The 76-year-old Kier, who was born in Germany near the end of World War II and therefore knows a thing or two, has been primarily typecast into bit character roles throughout his career, most recently as a raging cuckold who gouges the eyes of his...
