Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Bezos, Kevin Spacey Spotted at amfAR Cannes Gala as James Franco and Adrien Brody Auction Their Art for Over $300,000
Image
After winning his second best actor Oscar, Adrien Brody took on a new role at the amfAR Cannes Gala on Thursday night — that of an artist.

Brody, who has previously called painting his “first love,” took the stage at the star-studded auction to present a mixed media piece he created of Marilyn Monroe — and demanded the chatty crowd’s attention. Sporting a sparkly black suit, the actor shushed the crowd as he got on stage in a moment reminiscent of his now-infamous five-minute Oscars speech. “Please, for a moment, I know it’s a big room,” he said.

He then explained his inspiration behind the piece, saying that it represents “what Marilyn’s life did not afford her”: “To live a life fully and to cherish all the moments and the imperfections in life.”

Brody continued, “Women are so often objectified in the media and on social media. They...

“I’ll beat you like a rented mule”: The Most Wasted Character in Yellowstone Had the Most Macho Scene in the Taylor Sheridan Universe
Image
A primary reason behind Yellowstone‘s immense success was its memorable characters. Besides the leading names, some minor characters have also left an indelible mark on the fans’ minds. Steven Williams’ Cowboy was such a character who had a very brief role in Season 2 but delivered some of the most savage Yellowstone moments.

Taylor Sheridan’s Western TV hit featured a complex web of characters and their family trees. It is tough to keep a check on the number of people driving the story. However, Cowboy was such a character who, even after his brief role, could steal the spotlight.

Yellowstone: Every Main Character Ending, Ranked
Image
Easily one of the most popular television shows of the late-2010s and early-2020s, "Yellowstone" left a distinct but messy mark when it ended. The western series created by Taylor Sheridan tracked the lives and machinations of the Duttons, a Ewing-esque family of powerful businesspeople and politicians who preside over the titular palatial ranch and spacious plot of land it resides on in Montana.

The series galloped along smoothly for four and a half seasons (spawning several spin-offs in the process), until star Kevin Costner suddenly left the show before production could begin on the second half of season 5. His character had to be written off as a result, and the series as a whole began speeding toward an explosive, confusing end for its ensemble of characters. Now that the dust is settled, we've taken a gander at the fate of each main "Yellowstone" character, ranking them by how...

Ryan Gosling Starred In A Shared TV Universe Before His Rise To Fame
Image
Even the biggest actors can have some of the more humble or awkward beginnings. It's part and parcel of being a movie star; it's not as if A-Listers just arrive fully formed based on the roles with which we associate them most. Sometimes, actors have to put themselves deeply into stage roles, one-off appearances on TV shows, or a solid amount of supporting film roles before they can step up to the big time.

And then, of course, there are the myriad pitfalls of being a child actor. Some actors who start out when they're young in notable shows or films have an awfully hard time making the transition from youth to adult, as much because the industry may have pigeonholed them or audiences themselves can't accept a kid in a new position. (That's especially true when it comes to former Disney/teen idols.)

All that said, consider Ryan Gosling.

Taylor Sheridan’s Body of TV Work, From ‘Yellowstone’ to ‘Landman’ | Photos
Image
Taylor Sheridan took Hollywood by surprise when “Yellowstone” quietly became one of the biggest TV hits of the last decade. The monster success of that show even convinced Paramount to reverse course on a plan to turn Paramount Network, where the neo-Western airs, into a movies-only channel.

But no one is surprised now, as Sheridan has since created a sprawling TV empire for the studio centered on Paramount+. Alongside “Yellowstone” spinoffs “1883” and “1923,” the hit Sylvester Stallone drama “Tulsa King,” Jeremy Renner’s small town noir series “Mayor of Kingstown,” the biographical drama “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” starring David Oyelowo and Dennis Quaid, “Special Ops: Lioness” with Zoe Saldaña and “Landman” starring Billy Bob Thornton prove Sheridan is no flash in the pan.

Read on for a look at Taylor Sheridan’s television body of work — so far.

“You’re just not Jamie”: A ‘Yellowstone’ Cowboy Almost Stole Wes Bentley’s Jamie Dutton Role Before Taylor Sheridan Stepped In
Image
Sometimes in life, the road we think we’re destined for isn’t always the one that takes us to where we need to be. We all want to be the hero in our own stories, but more often than not, the best chapters come from unexpected detours. Ian Bohen, who’s made a name for himself as the lovable yet gritty cowboy Ryan in Yellowstone knows this firsthand.

If you ask him about the rocky path to the role that solidified his place in Taylor Sheridan’s universe, you’ll hear a story filled with both triumph and the humbling sting of “almost”.

But let’s not sugarcoat it: This isn’t just a story about an actor missing out on a role. No, this is about a passionate journey, a lesson in trusting your instincts, and a good ol’ fashioned reminder that timing is everything.

10 Movies & Shows To Watch If You Like American Primeval
Image
There are several other movies and shows similar to Netflix's epic period Western series American Primeval. American Primeval was written by Mark L. Smith, who co-wrote the screenplay for The Revenant with Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Peter Berg directs all six episodes of American Primeval. Taylor Kitsch leads an ensemble cast as Isaac Reed, which features Betty Gilpin, Dane DeHaan, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, Shea Whigham, Lucas Neff, and Kim Coates as Brigham Young. In addition to Young, American Primeval alters several real-life historical details and figures.

American Primeval uniquely blends brutal and violent elements of the horror genre with the classic Western. Despite its 59% Rotten Tomatoes score, it earned an 86% audience score and has been in Netflix's Top 10 TV Shows in the United States since it was released on January 9, 2025. ‘There’s no hierarchy’: Yellowstone Star May Have Hinted Taylor Sheridan’s True Colors in Kevin Costner’s Exit From Show
Image
Time waits for no one. But for fans of Yellowstone, the opposite seems to be true. Time keeps pulling us back to Kevin Costner, even though he has long left the ranch behind. The show’s popularity may have soared, but there’s one thing that still lingers in the air, like the scent of sagebrush: the unmistakable presence of Costner.

His departure has left a cloud hanging over the show. As the final season unfolds, rumors of what went wrong behind the scenes are floating, and it’s not just about who left but why. Denim Richards, who once played the lovable Colby, recently hinted about the tension that started long before Costner’s exit—and it paints a picture that’s less about creative differences and more about clashing egos.

Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 14 Review: Taylor Sheridan's Predictable Finale Is A Devastating Emotional Letdown
Image
Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Yellowstone season 5, episode 14, "Life Is a Promise."

Although the future of Yellowstone remains unclear following the airing of "Life Is a Promise," it's clear the season 5 finale is designed to act as a series finale, but it fails to achieve all the great qualities of one. Taylor Sheridan's TV show seemingly ends with conclusions to most of the characters' stories, which is a good thing at first glance. Under the surface, though, each development in Yellowstone season 5, episode 14 lacks surprise and impact, making the hour quite forgettable despite its perceived significance to not only the neo-Western drama series but also to TV history.

Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner and centers on his character John Dutton. Dutton and his family live on a cattle ranch just a few hours away from Yellowstone National Park. The series chronicles the family’s struggle to defend...

‘Yellowstone’ Finale, Explained: Tragedy and Hope as Ranch’s Fate is Revealed
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from the season 5B finale of Yellowstone, “Life Is a Promise.”]

Yellowstone circled back to the beginning in order to deliver its ending.

Heading into Sunday’s season 5B finale, the mega-hit Taylor Sheridan series had not confirmed if the supersized episode would, in fact, be the series finale. But to those who tuned into what Paramount Network described as a special season finale event, the ending certainly felt like an ending. Yet, it also set up where the Yellowstone-verse could go next.

[Major spoilers ahead…]

Directed and written by Sheridan, the one-hour-and-26-minute long episode, titled “Life Is A Promise,” revealed the fate of the Yellowstone, as the Dutton family’s ranch was sold back to the Broken Rock Reservation, finally freeing Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) of his father’s legacy while also giving his own family a future. Beth Dutton’s (Kelly Reilly) master plan was also revealed in the episode’s most shocking scene when she...

‘Yellowstone’ Finale: [Spoiler] Is Gruesomely Murdered as [Spoiler] Takes Control of the Ranch
Image
Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers from the Season 5, Episode 14 episode of “Yellowstone,” “Life Is a Promise” which premiered Sunday, Dec. 15 on Paramount Network.

Even if Paramount Network isn’t calling it the series finale, Sunday’s “Yellowstone” episode certainly felt like the end of the show fans have known for five seasons.

Coming in the wake of last week’s fire sale of nearly everything on the ranch, the series’ wandering souls were left adrift.

There were some goodbyes early on, as Jimmy (Jefferson White), Mia (Eden Brolin) and Travis (Taylor Sheridan) headed back home to the 6666 in Texas, with Teeter (Jen Landon) promising to come down in a week looking for work. Walker (Ryan Bingham) says he’s going to follow his rodeo champ girlfriend around the circuit. Beth (Kelly Reilly) announces she bought a ranch outside of Dillion — far away from tourists and airports — for her to...

'Some of the Conflict Was Gone': Yellowstone Star Says Filming Final Season Was Easier Without Kevin Costner

Yellowstone premiered in 2018 with Kevin Costner as the lead, but the final season went on without the actor. Costner's presence was felt throughout the final season, although he didn't star in it, and one of his co-stars, Luke Gimes, addressed how it felt to go on without the actor.

Kevin Costner's John Dutton's fate was unveiled in Episode 9, where it revealed how his character died. The actor's commitments to the show ended up overlapping with his two-part western film, Horizon: An American Saga, and Costner was unable to return for the final season. In an interview with Esquire to address the series finale, Luke Grimes, who played the cowboy Kayce Dutton, opened up about the series and further described what Costner's absence meant for the cast.

Quentin Tarantino Breaks Down the Problem With 'Yellowstone'

The Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood director had some less-than-favorable opinions on the cinematic sleight of how many of the prestige TV shows, such as the Paramount hit Yellowstone, use in their visual esthetics. Yellowstone spoilers involving Jamie Dutton's upbringing and actions.

Quick Links Jamie's Traumatic Past with His Family in 'Yellowstone' Beth and the Competition for Control in 'Yellowstone' Protecting the Ranch in 'Yellowstone'

Jamie Dutton, portrayed by Wes Bentley, has undeniably cemented himself as one of Yellowstone's most memorable characters. This recognition is largely due to the shocking and often harsh ways that Jamie goes about solving the many problems that plague him throughout the Western family drama series. From having his sister Beth (Kelly Reilly) unknowingly sterilized to the brutal murders of both Garrett Randall (Will Patton) and Sarah Nguyen (Michaela Conlin), Dutton has undeniably done some awful and inexcusable things.

However, the audience is left to reckon with and struggle to understand Jamie's motivation behind the crimes he continuously commits. Obviously, these crimes weigh heavily on the character's endlessly tormented psyche. The immense guilt is shown to be draining,...

Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 13 Review: Taylor Sheridan's Self-Indulgence Derails Painfully Uneventful Penultimate Finale

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Yellowstone season 5, episode 13, "Give the World Away."

I thought the penultimate episode of Yellowstone would be full of exciting, game-changing moments that set up a thrilling series finale, but I was wrong. The end is closer than ever for Taylor Sheridan's TV show, and the writer continues wasting time the show just doesn't have. Instead of progressing Yellowstone season 5, part 2's most intriguing conflicts and stories, "Give the World Away" is full of unnecessary fluff that, at the end of the day, is forgettable. 15 Best Action Thriller Movies Like Sicario

Movies like Sicario offer explosive action, thought-provoking political intrigue, and awards-pedigree acting talent. Released in 2015, Sicario is a slow-burning thriller about the nuances of drug cartel operations and the border between the U.S. and Mexico. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the movie focuses on three perspectives: an FBI agent, played by Emily Blunt; a secretive government agent, played by Josh Brolin; and an even shadowier assassin, played by Benicio del Toro. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it got a sequel three years later, Sicario: Day of the Soldado.

Only the best action-thriller movies remain comparable to Sicario, with its stunning cinematography and deeply ugly subject matter. Quick Links 'Yellowstone's' Most Recent Death, Explained Who Else Has Been Killed in 'Yellowstone' Season 5B?

In what has become a tireless storytelling motif, Yellowstone continues to kill off several main characters ahead of the series finale on December 15, 2024. The trend began with John Dutton's shocking bathroom death in the Season 5, Part 2 premiere, giving way to Kevin Costner's departure. In the three subsequent episodes, more deaths have plagued the Dutton family and their extended orbit, leaving fans wondering who, if anyone, will come out alive in the final two episodes.

While it appears the recent Yellowstone deaths will dovetail into Taylor Sheridan's latest series spin-off, The Madison, the recurring cycle of death, murder, and mayhem underscores the dangers of frontier living on a reservation. Regardless of how the final Yellowstone episodes set up The Madison, there's nothing easy or predictable about saying goodbye...

‘Yellowstone’ Director on “Gut-Wrenching” Event and How It Reverberates in Final Two Episodes
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from the fourth episode of Yellowstone season 5B, “Counting Coup.”]

Yellowstone delivered its third death of the season with Sunday night’s episode. After kicking off what may be the final run of the flagship series with the death of series patriarch John Dutton (played by departed star Kevin Costner), and following last week’s shocking assassination of Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), this week’s episode, the fourth out of six total, took one of the Yellowstone ranch’s cowboys all too soon.

Colby Mayfield (played by Denim Richards), a ranch hand for the Dutton family since season one, was accidentally killed in a Yellowstone horse stall. When Carter (Finn Little), the young ranch hand taken in by Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and husband Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), found himself in a precarious position with a bucking horse, Colby stepped in to save Carter and was fatally struck by the horse.

Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 12 Review: An Unnecessary Death Distracts From What's Important
Image
Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Yellowstone season 5, episode 12, "Counting Coup."

Although episode 11 signaled that Yellowstone season 5, part 2 was turning around after a couple of poor hours, episode 12, "Counting Coup," unfortunately brings the series back down to the ground. Prior to "Counting Coup," Taylor Sheridan's neo-Western drama TV show only had three episodes left to close out its story and conclude character arcs in a way that would satisfy us. Instead, episode 12 did little to move the plot forward and contains a death that is unnecessary and quite disappointing.

Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner and centers on his character John Dutton. Dutton and his family live on a cattle ranch just a few hours away from Yellowstone National Park. The series chronicles the family’s struggle to defend their home from an Indian reservation and land developers. As if their life wasn’t complicated enough, the Duttons also have medical issues,...

Kevin Costners 'Yellowstone' Exit Forced Last Night's Shocking Death
Image
It may have happened much faster than anyone anticipated, but actress Dawn Olivieri is not surprised about her Yellowstone character's fate. But if not for the premature exit of star Kevin Costner from the series last season, fans may have gotten a few more episodes or seasons with Sarah Atwood.

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress revealed heaps about the mindset of her villainous character's journey with the Dutton family both in Yellowstone and its prequel series, 1883 and how character arcs and trajectories had to get changed up and around with Costner's exit.

"I believe I was meant to go into the next season and continue on as a character," Olivieri explained. "So I think, because of the situation, everything got changed around. The storyline had to go full throttle to figure out how to tie up every end and move things along."

How Was Sarah...

‘Tulsa King’ Walk-On Role Auctioned Off at amfAR’s Inaugural Las Vegas Gala
Image
On Friday night, amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, hosted its first-ever gala in Las Vegas — with the hopes that in the city where winning big is the goal, the nonprofit would hit the jackpot in fundraising for AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education and advocacy.

Held during Formula 1 race weekend in the garden of the Wynn Las Vegas, the night was made possible by Paramount Global, Roberto Cavalli, 101 Studios, the Wynn Las Vegas, Sazerac and Rm Sotheby’s. AmfAR raised over $3 million at the event, and the foundation will receive close to $11 million from Rm Sotheby’s in a live auction of rare luxury cars. Sylvester Stallone and wife Jennifer were the evening’s big honorees, receiving amfAR’s Award of Inspiration.

Image
The end may well be very near for Yellowstone, but that doesnt mean the Dutton family saga is entirely closing its doors. Ian Bohen, who plays rancher Ryan on the hit Taylor Sheridan drama, has opened up about the shows final four episodes, teasing a very satisfying conclusion while leaving the door wide open for possible spin-offs or follow-ups. The ‘Npc’ Energy List: 13 TV Characters Who Are Basically Background Extras
Image
Once you get seriously into gaming, you will quickly notice there are two types of characters.

Playable characters, usually the central protagonist and or a group of friends the protagonists interact with that you occasionally control.

You’re bound to run into some memorable enemies along the way, with their Shakespearean monologues and super laser weapon systems.

(Chris Reardon/Epix)

Most of the characters you see will be “Non-playable characters” who have no real personalities but just sort of limp along with you to advance the plot.

It turns out that these NPCs are all over television, too.

Some of these NPCs are obvious.

They’re not quite at the level of “characters overstaying their welcome,” but they do seem to elicit a ho-hum from most of the audience.

Here are 13 NPCs or characters with “Non-Playable Character Energy” who feel like they’re on autopilot, just waiting for the main...

Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 10 Review: Taylor Sheridan Wastes Precious Time Ahead Of The Series Finale
Image
Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Yellowstone season 5, episode 10, "The Apocalypse of Change."

With only so many episodes left before Yellowstone reaches its end, season 5, episode 10 does little to advance the show's final story, wasting precious time with flashbacks. At least, the scenes in question appear to be flashbacks. Taylor Sheridan's widely popular neo-Western drama is set to conclude following its fifth season finale (unless the reports about Yellowstone season 6 are true). So, it stands to reason that every second counts, but one wouldn't be able to tell while watching "The Apocalypse of Change."

Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner and centers on his character John Dutton. Dutton and his family live on a cattle ranch just a few hours away from Yellowstone National Park. The series chronicles the familys struggle to defend their home from an Indian reservation and land developers. As if their life wasnt complicated enough,...

‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 Episode 10 Recap: “The Apocalypse of Change”
Image

It’s Beth and Kayce versus Jamie as Paramount Network’s Yellowstone season five continues with episode 10, “The Apocalypse of Change.” But before getting to any of that, episode 10 steps back to before John Dutton was found dead.

First up, a check-in with the cowboys stuck watching over the cattle in Texas. Everyone’s up and at breakfast except for Teeter (Jen Landon), and when Rip (Cole Hauser) checks in on her, she looks terrified. She whispers, “Rattlesnake.”

Rip lifts her bedroll and the snake is inside, curled up on her chest. He grabs it before it bites and then yells at Teeter for leaving her tent flap open. That’s just inviting trouble. Teeter reluctantly pokes around inside her tent, searching for more, and of course, there are. They’ve basically camped on top of a rattlesnake den.

There are snakes everywhere,...

'That's Their Business': Kevin Costner Reacts to Yellowstone Character's Fate
Image
This story contains Major Spoilers for Yellowstone.

Yellowstone has finally returned to Paramount Network to begin airing its final episodes. With the show's return came the reveal of how Kevin Costner's departure from the series would be addressed, and the actor wasn't impressed with the direction taken.

In the latest episode, it was revealed that Costner's John Dutton was killed off. It's initially insinuated that the character died by suicide before it's later hinted that a hit was put out on him by Jamie's (Wes Bentley) girlfriend, Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri). After the episode's airing, Costner joined SiriusXM's The Michael Smerconish Program, where he shared his thoughts on John Dutton's demise. The actor admitted he didn't even know the show was back on the air, going on to share how he was baffled by why he was featured so heavily in the previews, given how he wasn't in the final episodes at all.

Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 Premiere Review: Kevin Costner's Exit Might Be The Best Thing That Could've Happened
Image
Warning: This review contains Major spoilers for the Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 premiere

Well, they did it. They killed off John Dutton. In Yellowstone season 5 part 2's opening moments, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilley) arrives at the Governor's Mansion in Helena, Montana to a crime scene, the driveway cordoned off and an ambulance waiting outside. When Kacey Dutton (Luke Grimes) shows up, he forces his way into the house so that he and Beth can see John's body on the bathroom floor, a gun mere inches from his hands. It looks like suicide, though Beth knows right away that her brother Jamie (Wes Bentley) is behind it.

‘Yellowstone’ Returns & Kevin Costner Learns John Dutton’s Fate …
Image
Welp. That didn’t take long.

Sadly, it didn’t come as much of a shock, either.

On Sunday night, one of the most popular programs on all of television returned — and viewers tuned in specifically to see what fate would befall John Dutton, the patriarch on Yellowstone played by veteran actor Kevin Costner.

Formerly played by veteran actor Kevin Costner, that is.

Kevin Costner had quite a run at the center of Yellowstone. (Paramount) Spoilers Ahead!

It came out months ago that Costner and series creator Taylor Sheridan butted heads over the drama’s shooting schedule because Costner wanted to flip his eventual flop of a movie, Horizon: An American Saga.

As a result?

Costner said via Instagram way back in June that he was done with Yellowstone.

This was an unusual and unfortunate circumstance because Yellowstone itself isn’t done; the show still had the back half of Season 5 to film.

Image
Wes Bentley as Jamie in ‘Yellowstone’ season 5 episode 9 (Photo Credit: Paramount Network)

Yellowstone finally returned for the second half of season five with episode nine, “Desire Is All You Need,” airing on November 10, 2024. Episode nine delivers a body blow in its first few minutes, answering the most pressing lingering question regarding a key character.

But first, a very brief refresher of the Dutton family drama. Season five’s first half ended with Beth (Kelly Reilly) learning about the “train station” and the family’s practice of burying their enemies from Jamie (Wes Bentley). That revelation threw a monkey wrench into Beth’s blackmail plans and led to a conversation with her dad about eliminating their Jamie problem once and for all. Coincidentally, Jamie has also landed on the idea of doing away with his adopted dad, asking his girlfriend if she knows someone who can do the job.

All this...

Is Kevin Costner In Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2? John Dutton III's Involvement Explained
Image
Kevin Costner's John Dutton III has been the cornerstone of Yellowstone since the beginning, but that will all change in season 5, part 2. The Paramount Network neo-Western drama, created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, chronicles the lives of the Dutton family, led by John, in the present day. They own the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch in Montana, causing them to encounter drama and conflict from every angle. John has served as the family's patriarch throughout Yellowstone's five seasons, but someone will have to step up in season 5, part 2.

Reports claim that Yellowstone might return for a sixth season, but as of the writing of this article, Paramount hasn't validated these rumors.

As some may recall, the finale of Yellowstone season 5, part 1 ended with Jamie Dutton, John's son, filing articles of impeachment against Costner's character. John was elected the Governor of Montana during the season 5 premiere, and Jamie was sick of his father's actions.

10 Best Neo-Westerns Ever Made
Image
The neo-Western film genre reimagines the themes and ideas of classic Western movies for a modern audience. Often, this takes the form of a Western-style movie set in contemporary times, or if it was set in an earlier time period, the film blended genres and presented itself as a more targeted critique of American societal values than whats normally seen in a typical Western. Neo-Westerns are often much darker stories that tackle existential questions of life, death, and the complexities of determining good from evil.

Many of the best modern Western movies embrace a neo-Western sensibility and include works by some of the best directors of all time, such as Paul Thomas Anderson, Jim Jarmusch, and the Coen brothers. While many of these films dont focus on traditional bandits, cowboys, or outlaws, they often utilize the desolate landscapes and brooding atmospheres of classic Western cinema. The best neo-Westerns ever made...
