Wherever Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor goes, a certain bearded Jedi follows. In 2019, when McGregor and his travel writer friend Charley Boorman arrived in a small South American town (McGregor thinks it was in Peru) amid a long motorcycle journey, so too did a legion of fans excited to meet Obi-Wan Kenobi.

“We were in a small town and there are these long winding steps all the way up to this famous lighthouse,” McGregor says. “We were going up and someone asked for an autograph. I was happy to do that. Then the same thing happened on another flight of stairs up. Then a bunch of people were arriving going, ‘Oh, we didn’t know where you’d be.’ Turns out (our location) was on a Star Wars social media platform or site. They were always very friendly though. It was never a chore.”

For now, Star Wars is in the rearview.

Apple TV Plus is releasing three new documentary series this fall, each of which examines the world through a different perspective.

“Tiny World,” narrated by Paul Rudd, premieres its first six episodes the streaming platform on Oct. 2. The nature series aims to look at the world “through the eyes of the tiniest creatures and witness the extraordinary things they do to survive.” Produced by Plimsoll Productions, the documentary series was written and executive produced by Tom Hugh Jones. Dr. Martha Holmes and Grant Mansfield executive produced the series on behalf of Plimsoll.

“Becoming You,” narrated by Olivia Colman, premieres its first half dozen episodes on Nov. 13. The series looks at how a child’s first 2,000 days shape the rest of their lives.

Ewan McGregor has been motorcycling down and around the world for years, but now it’s time to go up. Apple TV+ has unveiled “Long Way Up,” McGregor’s third motorcycle series with Charley Boorman.

Per Apple, “Long Way Up” will reunite best friends after more than a decade since their last motorbike adventure around the world. The show will cover 13,000 miles over 100 days through 16 border crossings and 13 countries, starting from the city of Ushuaia at the tip of South America. The series promises to tour “glorious and underexposed landscapes” in South and Central America as the duo undertake their most challenging expedition to date. McGregor and Boorman will journey through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and up through Colombia, Central America, and Mexico. They’ll be joined by directors David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, longtime collaborators with the duo, via their electric Rivians.

Apple TV+ will premiere its Ewan McGregor motorcycle series Long Way Up on September 18, with new episodes launching weekly.

The show follows McGregor and his friend Charley Boorman as they travel on electric Harley-Davidsons 13,000 miles through Central and South America.

Their journey takes them from Ushuaia, at the tip of South America, through 13 countries including Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador.

It is a follow up to previous series Long Way Round, which aired on Sky in 2004, and Long Way Down, which was broadcast by the BBC in 2007.
