Acrobatic stuntman and small part supporting actor of Calabrian and Sicilian parentage. Borgese has been prolific on screen since 1960, latterly in the capacity of stunt coordinator or armourer/master of arms. As actor/stuntman he has been variously credited as Salvatore Borghese, Michael Franz, Dick Gordon and Mark Trevor, featuring in scores of spaghetti westerns (Halleluja for Django (1967), I Am Sartana, Your Angel of Death (1969), Man of the East (1972)), peplum (Sodom and Gomorrah (1962), Samson and the Slave Queen (1963), Hercules, Samson & Ulysses (1963)) and swashbucklers (Cyrano et d'Artagnan (1964), The Loves and Times of Scaramouche (1976), The Black Corsair (1976)), plus a smattering of eurospy and crime films. In addition to his stunt work, Borgese has been noted for his work in comedies starring either, or both, Bud Spencer and Terence Hill (It Can Be Done Amigo (1972), Odds and Evens (1978), Super Fuzz (1980)). As an actor, he has usually appeared as minor henchmen or comic relief. Borgese's international credits include Cleopatra (1963), The Fall of the Roman Empire (1964), The Godfather Part III (1990) and Gangs of New York (2002).

Borgese has a son, Alessandro Borgese, who was born in 1967 and also works in the film industry as a stuntman and stunt coordinator. In October 2018, Sal was awarded the "Tabernas de cine" prize at the Almeria Western Film Festival in Spain (Claudia Cardinale won in the actress category).
