‘Simpsons’ Writer Delights in Learning That the Nebraska Supreme Court Cited Patty and Selma in An Opinion
Image
The Nebraska Supreme Court has officially ruled that Patty and Selma Bouvier have a better understanding and respect for the legal system than the state’s Attorney General — Homer must be working some weird jobs here in the later seasons.

On The Simpsons, Marge’s identical twin older sisters are basically the human embodiments of the Department of Motor Vehicles where they work. Patty and Selma are snide, aloof, indifferent to human suffering and outright hostile toward the layman, especially when the room gets fatter whenever said layman steps inside. But, when it comes to the legal duties of government workers, Patty and Selma understand that the rules deserve their respect. Unless, of course, that rule is “no smoking,” in which case they’d rather transfer to flavor country instead.

That being said, it’s unlikely that the average Simpsons fan would name either Patty or Selma as a model...

10 Best Marge Episodes in 'The Simpsons,' Ranked
Image
She's exceptionally patient, she's an active church-goer, she's married to an idiot, her trademark grumble is one of the best catchphrases in Simpsons history, and her blue hair is almost as tall as her body. Her name is Marjorie Simpson (maiden name: "Bouvier"), one of the precious few voices of reason in The Simpsons. Voiced by Julie Kavner, Marge proves her worth even when she's not at the center of the plot. By showing things from a woman's perspective, her storylines often make the point that Marge is just as under-appreciated by the typical Simpsons fan as she is by her family.

Simple Plan Cover “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” for New Disney Pop-Punk Covers Compilation: Stream
Image
Simple Plan have released a cover of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” both as a dedication to The Lion King’s 30th anniversary as well as for a new Disney pop-punk and alternative rock covers compilation titled A Whole New Sound.

Simple Plan’s rendition of the Elton John song is certainly more upbeat, taking the balladry of the original and turning the volume dial much, much louder. Vocalist Pierre Bouvier sings the iconic chorus surrounded by vocal harmonies, and if you were wondering what a pop-punk version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” sounds like, just listen to Bouvier sing the words “kings and vagabonds.” Stream Simple Plan’s cover below.

The Simpsons Has A Nsfw Answer For Why Marge Puts Up With Homer
Image
Emmy award-winning actress Julie Kavner became a household name as the titular "Rhoda" in the very first spin-off of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." She's enjoyed a life of comedic and character acting for decades (she's Adam Sandler's mom in "Click!"), but the general public probably knows her best as TV's longest-running sitcom mom — Marge Simpson. Kavner also voices the other major women in the Bouvier family. Still, her trademark raspy voice has helped make Marge an icon. She received her second Emmy in 1992 for voicing the character and an Annie Award nomination for her performance in "The Simpsons Movie."

Marge has been at the center of some of the all-time great episodes of "The Simpsons," and in recent years she's become a bit of a meme queen in her own right. Marge loves her family, takes pride in her home, is a devoutly religious woman, and is the...

10 The Simpsons Actors Who Voice The Most Characters
Image
The talented voice actors of The Simpsons, including Nancy Cartwright, Harry Shearer, and Hank Azaria, bring depth and magic to the show's iconic characters. These voice actors have been with the show for nearly three decades, crafting unique voices that will be remembered as some of the best in TV history. The show's most prolific voice actors, such as Dan Castellaneta and Tress MacNeille, have voiced over 30 notable characters each, showcasing their versatility and contribution to the rich tapestry of The Simpsons.

The Simpsons has a hugely talented cast, and many characters are portrayed by just 10 voice actors. This is part of the reason a live-action version of The Simpsons would never work. The work of talented actors, including Nancy Cartwright, Harry Shearer, and Hank Azaria would be a struggle to replicate; any new actors taking on the iconic roles may find it difficult to capture the magic of what makes The Simpsons special.

Calista Flockhart on High Stakes of Playing Lee Radziwill in ‘Feud’ and Sad End of Old New York
Image
[This story contains spoilers from the sixth episode of Feud: Capote vs. the Swans, “Hats, Gloves and Effete Homosexuals.”]

Feud: Capote vs. the Swans is a reunion for Calista Flockhart and showrunner Jon Robin Baitz, who created Brothers & Sisters on which the actress starred during its five-season run. It was an instant yes, says Flockhart, when “Robbie” (as she calls him) and producer Ryan Murphy came to her with the role of Lee Radziwill in season two of the FX anthology — one of the coterie of New York City socialites with whom Truman Capote palled around (and later publicly fought) in the 1960s and ’70s.

Radziwell was perhaps America’s best-known little sister; she was four years younger than Jackie Kennedy Onassis, who always overshadowed Lee despite her own efforts to achieve fame as an actress. But without the trappings of the official title of First Lady, Radziwill was able to flourish socially and was well-connected with the literary,...

The Simpsons Season 35 Features A Shocking Villain First After 34 Years
Image
Warning! This article contains spoilers for The Simpsons season 35, episode 4!

In The Simpsons season 35, episode 4, Mr. Burns gets married for the first time in the show's 35 seasons. The episode, "Thirst Trap: A Corporate Love Story," features Mr. Burns marrying the delusional entrepreneur Persephone. Previous attempts at romance for Mr. Burns were unsuccessful, with his relationships being sabotaged by other characters or ending tragically.

Although the show has been on the air for decades, The Simpsons season 35, episode 4 managed to pull off an impressive series first for one major villain. Rather than one central antagonist, The Simpsons features many villains due to the anarchic family sitcom being such a fast-paced, inventive series. The Simpsons introduces new characters constantly and the show’s existing characters often change their entire personalities without much warning, so the show doesn’t necessarily need a consistent antagonist. That said, Montgomery Burns is one of the oldest...

The Offspring Joined by Members of Sum 41 and Simple Plan for Rousing Version of “Why Don’t You Get a Job?”: Watch
Image
The Offspring‘s recently wrapped “Let the Bad Times Roll” tour featured support from Sum 41 and Simple Plan — one of the strongest pop-punk tour packages in recent memory.

The trek ended earlier this month, but during the second to last show on September 2nd at the Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York, members of all three bands shared the stage for a surging run through of The Offspring’s ska-tinged number “Why Don’t You Get a Job?”

The epic moment occurred toward the end of the main portion of The Offspring’s headlining set. For the first time on the tour, the band was joined onstage by tourmates Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 and Pierre Bouvier of Simple Plan.

The two form a veritable punk-rock triumvirate with The Offspring frontman Dexter Holland, as their voices stack in joyous harmony during the song’s chorus refrain. The pro-shot footage...

The Simpsons' 10 Greatest Female Characters
Image
The Simpsons has a male-dominated cast, but it still has strong female characters like Edna Krabappel, Mona Simpson, and Lisa Simpson. Characters like Agnes Skinner, Lindsey Naegle, and Selma Bouvier add humor and depth to the show's ensemble of women. Marge Simpson is more than just a typical sitcom mom, while Maggie Simpson proves to be a badass despite her young age.

From the surprisingly complex Patty and Selma to the self-assured Luann Van Houten to the shining beacon of hope for humanity that is Lisa Simpson, The Simpsons has a handful of great female characters that have endured for the series’ decades-long run. As with most TV shows from the 1980s, the cast of The Simpsons is very male-dominated. There are dozens of male characters populating Springfield – like Moe, Barney, Smithers, Ned Flanders, Kent Brockman, Chief Wiggum, Comic Book Guy, Reverend Lovejoy, and Krusty the Clown, to name just...

Lizzo Assists The Simpsons Season 34 Finale With a Dark Twist
Image
This The Simpsons review contains spoilers.

The Simpsons Season 34 Episode 22

For their 750th episode, The Simpsons pulls out all the stops, and adds a dangerous curve, but never quite gets in full gear. “Homer’s Adventures Through the Windshield Glass” is ambitious, cramming 750 characters into the opening sequence, jamming with Lizzo to the beat of a slap-happy Homer in the end, and spending the creamy middle somewhere between heaven and hell. It is a very creative episode, teasing a glimpse of paradise which turns into the purgatory of a lukewarm season finale which was cooked on all burners.

While couch gags can foretell mediocre episodes, the full opening sequence, complete with a chalkboard gag, is always a welcome sight. The cramming of all the Springfield residents, characters, and celebrity guests, is expertly layered. Even Homer’s crash through the garage reveals greater wonders as Fat Tony and Mr. T can be seen through the splinters.

Where Is Marge’s Mother In The Simpsons Season 34 (Is She Dead)?
Image
While The Simpsons season 34 hasn’t mentioned Marge’s mother, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the aging character has been killed off. The Simpsons has a complicated relationship with the show’s massive, sprawling cast. After over 700 episodes, The Simpsons has amassed one of the biggest casts in television history, meaning a lot of characters are forgotten about for entire seasons at a time. That said, The Simpsons brings back extremely obscure side characters frequently, which makes it more notable when the show ignores a supporting star who seems important to the eponymous family.

Despite all of the obscure supporting characters The Simpsons season 34 brought back, the show has not mentioned Marge’s mother Jacqueline Bouvier since The Simpsons season 33, episode 22, “Poorhouse Rock.” While Grampa plays as big a role as ever in The Simpsons season 34, Marge’s mother hasn’t been seen onscreen since the last season. Viewers...

The Simpsons Go Down a YouTube Rabbit Hole
Image
This The Simpsons review contains spoilers.

The Simpsons Season 34 Episode 12

The Simpsons season 34 episode 12 “My Life as a Vlog,” highlights the family’s addiction to clickbait, which could be seen as a grasp for relevancy in an Instagram world, but is really a ratings grab because YouTube is easier to satirize and monetize. It’s not quite the latest thing, but it’s not passe, and it’s more fun to navigate.

“My Life as a Vlog” resembles “Lisa the Boy Scout,” because it is pieced together by snippets of the interconnecting, but standalone, clips which propel the Simpson family into a viral sensation, so much so their ratings move the family to a much bigger house. But the installment is presented as a reality show, because it allows more recognizable reference points, and The Simpsons have not yet had their fill of milking the tropes. It’s obviously designed to irritate,...

Ain't It Cool News Is Raving:

"...there is a compelling story going on here. Having the real world of the movie play out a scenario in a story has been done before, but this mixture of life imitating art is a subject that has a lot of potential to plumb. The story of a seemingly “good girl” not necessarily writing a “nice story” is fun, especially with the meta-commentary that “nice stories” aren’t what the people want these days. There’s an extremely poetic sequence illustrating the mixture of the story, the real world (within the film), and the art of ballet that plays really well (especially with some...

In a maneuver of delicate dance, the rendezvous of clinical upset has been pushed, unpadded and unrestrained to a divine sedative of cinematic congruence. The motion picture that defied the shrine of mountain X and manipulated its own story to an unbreaking point. The bloody marionettes left the stage like thankless children in harmonious conclusion. Jared Masters’ Magnum Opus.

Frolic Pictures’ prettiest price tag yet, for a photoplay made in the 2010s era. If microwaves were cinemas, then molecules would have been riled up, in Ballet of Blood, the 9th feature film fathered by Hollywood’s unprecedented walking controversy.

The Prince of Horror Erotica has perhaps graduated to a level of surrealism few films capture or cannibalize.

Sydney Raye portrays Nisa, the key character who slayed several sensitive souls, with psychotic and alluring drive. She charged into the performance with several doses of moving mental breakthroughs.

by Gerald Beanery, MoreHorror.com

On rare occasion, every few hundred thousand movies or so, you may come across a captivating mystery thriller with so much life-changing meaning, such realistic nerve curdling emotion, such awe-struck wonder and curious disbelief, through tears and through laughter, the viewer is transformed into an entirely new being, for the better, and will live on under a new persona for the rest of their life, reflecting on that specific motif of entertainment.
