Clive Barker's "Hellraiser" franchise might not be as popular as "Friday the 13th," "Halloween," "Evil Dead," and "A Nightmare on Elm Street," but most people still know Pinhead and the Cenobites. The leather-clad, extra-dimensional demons debuted in Barker's "The Hellbound Heart" novella before going on to cause legendary suffering in movies, comics, and Motorhead music videos, but they have yet to star in their own video game (unless you count the fictional one in the maligned "Hellraiser: Hellworld"). However, that's all about to change with Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games' "Hellraiser: Revival," which will take players straight into the Labyrinth. (Check out the gnarly trailer right here.)
"Hellraiser: Revival" tells the story of Aiden, a man who enters the Cenobites' lair to rescue his girlfriend from damnation. The plot echoes the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, as well as the underrated "Dante's Inferno" video game, but...

Kane Hodder, the icon responsible for giving life to Friday the 13th's slasher killer Jason Voorhees on numerous occasions, has revealed again that he almost played yet another very important character in horror cinema. Hodder is no stranger to the horror game outside the Friday the 13th franchise, having played characters such as Victor Crowley in the Hatchet film series, as well as Leatherface of Texas Chainsaw Massacre fame during stunt work. However, he has confirmed once again what he has addressed in the past: Hodder almost gave life to none other than A Nightmare on Elm Street''s Freddy Krueger.
As reported by Bloody Disgusting, Hodder was on the podcast Talks From the Crypt, where he spoke about his long career in horror. Hodder's early career was in stunt work, and during a demonstration that went horribly wrong, Hodder was left with burns all over his body. However,...

French video game publishing giant Ubisoft reported its first-quarter earnings this week, revealing lower than expected net bookings (282 million in euros) which the company attributes to weak performance for “Rainbow Six Siege” and in part due to “an unfavorable foreign exchange impact.”
On a more positive note, the company says March release “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” has now crossed 5 million players.
During a call with analysts, Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot expanded on changes to internal structure at Ubisoft, following the recent appointment of senior leadership at the company’s new subsidiary: “We also continued to make meaningful progress on Ubisoft’s transformation by outlining a new operating model built around business units, called Creative Houses. These units will reflect our diverse types of gaming experiences and will allow for enhanced quality, focus, autonomy and accountability. Over time, each of these Creative Houses will boost creative vision and business performance.

Matthew Rhys is officially voicing Dinosaurus in Invincible. Fans had been wondering who he was playing since his casting was first teased, and now Robert Kirkman has confirmed it.
Speaking during his panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, the creator of the show shared that Rhys will be bringing the dangerous and unpredictable Dinosaurus to life in the upcoming season.
Rhys, known for The Americans and Perry Mason, had been announced as part of the voice cast last week when Prime Video revealed that Invincible was renewed for a fifth season.
That announcement came with a video of the cast learning the news. Fans were excited to see Rhys join the group but had no idea which character he’d be voicing, until now.

Gamers get ready to reunite with the original horror and sex icon, Pinhead. The original Pinhead actor from Clive Barker's demonically sultry horror franchise Hellraiser, Doug Bradley, is putting the pins back in. Well, virtually, that is. While Bradley has been open about how he is willing to reprise the head cenobite of horror author Barker's creation in live action under the right conditions, the actor is officially back in the leather and chain saddle for an upcoming video game release. Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games recently released a gory announcement trailer, and an even gorier Red Band version, for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, a new single-player game coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Horror games based on popular movie franchises have become a special niche in the video game industry—especially those that try to replicate Dead By Daylight's formula and success, to middling results.
In Dead By Daylight, human players attempt to escape a torture arena where a killer player hunts down the survivors like cat and mouse. Humans have scarce tools at their disposal, whilst the killer has nigh-infinite potential to make the survivors' lives miserable. Games that have tried to capture this lightning in a bottle include Friday the 13th, Evil Dead: The Game, Resident Evil: Resistance, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and probably more we've never heard of. Game publishers have become obsessed with trying to conjure a money-printing machine.

Doug Bradley became a horror icon through his performance as the Cenobite known as Pinhead in the 1987 Clive Barker classic Hellraiser, a role he would reprise in seven sequels before stepping away from the franchise. Twenty years have gone by since Bradley last played Pinhead in a Hellraiser movie – but now, Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games have brought him back to the role for the video game Hellraiser: Revival, which will be coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
Hellraiser: Revival is described as being a “story-driven, single-player survival horror action game set in the Hellraiser universe. Here’s the announcement trailer, which debuted on IGN:
Clive Barker helped craft the story for the video game and provided the following statement: “Working on the first true Hellraiser game has been a venture deep into the recesses of my darkest imaginings. The dedication that...

It seems like Saber Interactive isn’t going to slow down anytime soon. Ever since the success of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 late last year, the studio has been super active in the developer sphere, and now, we have something new. The studio already has many irons in the fire, but it seems like it has added another one.
The studio just released a new teaser video with eerie imagery, ominous sounds, and the unmistakable voice of Pinhead, and of course, our first guess is that a Hellraiser video game may be in the works. The teaser also has a countdown for what could be a possible reveal. The big date that we’re now waiting for is July 22.

I’ll keep watching new Final Destination movies as long as they keep making them, but I’m personally much more supportive of heartfelt rip-offs than officially licensed sequels. After all, Star Wars began as a loving homage to the Flash Gordon serials, and even the long-running Friday the 13th series was originally meant to cash in on the slasher thrills of John Carpenter’s Halloween. However, these new properties ended up iterating on the stories that inspired them instead of simply regurgitating their tropes ad nauseum, and that’s why they’re so beloved today.
With that in mind, I think it’s about time for a modern filmmaker to properly remix the psychosexual scares of Hellraiser into something new. While there are quite a few enjoyable sequels in the fan-favorite series, Clive Barker’s diminishing involvement should be interpreted as a sign that it might be time to move on.

While this time he might not be the one in gruesome practical effects makeup with pointy objects in his face, Hellraiserstar Doug Bradley is back in another hellish horror film that definitely takes some inspiration from his iconic Pinhead films. Although Bradley has confessed that he would gladly step back into Pinhead's suit and makeup again, his role in Douglas Schulze's religious horror Thorns puts him in a different position. Instead of being the harbinger of hell, Bradley must witness a cynobite-esque creature, with thorns around its head, bring hell to earth. In the newest trailer, audiences get an up-close and personal look at the biblical horror that is the Necronaut.
The Dark Below, Hellmaster, and Mimesis director has admitted that his new film took inspiration from horror classics including The Thing, Alien, and The Exorcist, but the influence of Hellraiser is undeniable. Not only is Bradley featured in the film,...

Director Douglas Schulze (The Dark Below, Hellmaster, Mimesis) took inspiration from horror classics including The Thing, Alien, and The Exorcist for his new movie Thorns, but it’s pretty clear that the biggest inspiration on the film was Hellraiser. In fact, Thorns looks like something of a lost Hellraiser sequel, right down to Doug Bradley starring in the film.
Thorns is said to be “ripe with physical makeup effects and plenty of gore,” and you can watch the trailer below for a taste. It was debuted exclusively over on Dread Central earlier today.
Dread also reveals that Thorns will be coming to VOD on May 6 from Vantage Media.

The mind of a hedonistic criminal is our entry point into Clive Barker's 1986 horror novella, "The Hellbound Heart." This man, Frank Cotton, acquires a puzzle box which, once solved, supposedly morphs into a portal to an extradimensional pleasure realm. However, when Frank solves the puzzle, frightening, sadomasochistic creatures emerge and subject him to the extremes of the pleasure-pain spectrum. After being captured by these beings (who call themselves Cenobites), Frank finds a way to escape, return to Earth, and seek new excesses of depravity involving his brother's wife and his niece.
Such is the premise of Barker's "Hellraiser," which brought "The Hellbound Heart" to life in vivid, uncompromising shades. This 1987 film — which quickly spawned a popular horror franchise — explores extremity and excess, why humans crave it, and how the Cenobites deal it out. Barker imbues these beings with greater moral ambiguity in the initial "Hellraiser" films, describing them as "demons to some,...

Night of the Demons III? Weird. That must be like one of those Hellraiser sequels that wasn’t originally intended to be a Hellraiser movie but had Doug Bradley pasted into it for 5 minutes to justify it. Wait, it was written by original director Kevin Tenney? Well surely its easy to watch… oh for Pete’s sake, its not even streaming on Tubi. No offense to Tubi at all. I love finding random movies to watch on there but they have everything and even have commentary on the first Night of the Demons. Okay, I knew this movie existed, especially after I did a black sheep on the second entry a few years ago, but until a couple months ago I had never seen it. After watching both the official version and the workprint version (more on that later), I’m ready to move the Black Sheep crown from part...

Only deep-cut horror fans may know that there are 11 extant "Hellraiser" movies. Clive Barker kicked off the property by writing and directing 1987's "Hellraiser," itself based on Barker's novella "The Hellbound Heart." The film revolved around a mysterious wooden puzzle box -- the Lament Configuration -- that, when solved, could summon a cadre of terrifying Cenobites from a parallel dimension. The Cenobites are essentially undead sadomasochists who appear to torture their summoners to death. Being S&m junkies, however, the torture is meant to be the ultimate sexual experience. For them, pain and pleasure are one and the same.
In 1988, there was a theatrical followup titled "Hellbound: Hellraiser II." Directed by Tony Randel, the sequel took the sexual obsessions of the first movie into deeply surreal territory; a large portion of the sequel is set in Hell, a maze-like realm overseen by a sentient, building-sized obelisk called Leviathan. The season 3 finale of Invincible hit last Thursday, and with no new episode today, Prime Video and creator Robert Kirkman are already teasing what fans can expect from the officially in-development fourth season.
Mark Grayson very nearly met his end at the hands of the bloodthirsty (even for a Viltrumite) villain known as Conquest, but he's going to come up against an even tougher opponent in season 4: Grand Regent Thragg.
There are a number of incredibly powerful characters in the world of Invincible, but a lot of fans would consider Thragg to be at least among the most formidable. We don't know who will voice the character in the show, but Kirkman has confirmed that he has been cast.
"I mean, it would certainly be weird if [Thragg] didn't show up in the show. Yeah. I mean, I don't know. It's so tough. Here's what I'll say: he's been cast,...

Pinhead might put his victims through more physical and mental anguish than any other bad guy in the genre, but he’s been through a literal hell of his own when it comes to the Hellraiser franchise. From the pen and direction of the all-time legend Clive Barker in the original Hellraiser to the bargain bin at Walmart—and at one point, some basement in Idaho where the even more horrendous Weinsteins slapped together Hellraiser: Revelations in the time it takes a lunch lady on meth to make a sloppy joe. Yet, in almost all of those situations, the character still delivered at least one classic moment of Pinhead wisdom—or at the very least, some ripping and tearing of the sweet, sweet flesh. Welcome to Best of the Bad Guys, where we celebrate the best of horror’s worst villains. On today’s episode, we’re highlighting the best...

The season 3 finale of Invincible is now streaming on Prime Video, and following one of the most hellacious battles we've seen since the animated series premiered back in 2021, we took a trip to literal Hell for a post-credits scene that not even fans of the comic will have been expecting.
In the stinger, demonic detective Damien Darkblood (Clancy Brown) - who we haven't seen since Cecil banished him back in the first season - summons a more powerful demon voiced by Evil Dead legend Bruce Campbell, and tells him about a "surface dweller" who may be able to restore his master to his former glory.
This sets up a season 4 storyline that didn't play out on the page, and could potentially see Mark Grayson journey to Hell to battle the Devil himself.

Invincible wrapped up its third season in typically violent fashion, with almost the entire episode dedicated to a vicious brawl between Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) and a particularly powerful and bloodthirsty Viltrumite known as Conquest.
After almost 30 minutes of brutal battle, Mark is finally able to defeat his foe with some help from his brother Oliver (Christian Convery) and Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs). Invincible allows his Viltrumite side to manifest, smashing Conquest's skull in with his own head.
The villain certainly looks dead, but we then learn that Cecil (Walton Goggins) has preserved "the body" so he can be questioned about the movements of the Viltrum Empire.
"I think a Cecil interrogating Conquest scene, with Walton Goggins and Jeffrey Dean Morgan going head-to-head, that'd be a pretty cool, intense scene," creator Robert Kirkman tells EW. "But to put it more succinctly, I don't think Cecil would've gone to all the...

The season 3 finale of Invincible hits Prime Video this Thursday, and IGN has released a clip from the opening scene.
Last week's penultimate episode concluded with the arrival of a powerful and bloodthirsty (not exactly unusual for this race) Viltrumite known as Conquest (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who was appalled to see that Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) had not set about paving the way for the Viltrum invasion.
In this clip, Conquest makes it very clear that he has no intention of attempting to convince Mark that surrender is the best course of action for the people of Earth, as to him, "there is no greater pleasure than to feel the warmth of my fists drenched in blood."
"I was just thrilled to get to be a part of it and give Steven his chance at redemption," Morgan told EW in a recent interview "I was trying to be aware of just voice inflection.

Cinedownloads has launched The Temple of the Killer Tiger Monkeys, a serialized podcast starring horror icons Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) and Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes).
Based on the 2019 novel of the same name by John Mitchell, who also writes and directs the podcast, the genre-bending audio drama combines horror, kung fu, action, comedy, urban fantasy, and sorcery.
Nicholas Vince (Hellraiser), Simon Bamford (Hellraiser), and James Pax (Big Trouble in Little China) also star, with Dr. Hugh Pincott — the last surviving paranormal researcher from the notorious Enfield Poltergeist case — serving as narrator.
The door to Hell is open and demons are flooding the mortal realm; rampaging, burning and destroying. The City Council controls the situation with a dirty cover-up, courtesy of a treacherous alliance with toilet dwelling Illuminati. The demons split into a civil war, one half wanting to conquer the Earth, the others wanting to collective bargain with Satan for better conditions in Hell.

The penultimate season 3 episode of Invincible is now streaming on Prime Video, and "What Have I Done?" adapts a major event from the comics: The Invincible War.
In the episode, a very-much-alive Angstrom Levy sends eighteen variants of Mark Grayson to Earth with strict instructions to reduce the planet to rubble and inflict as much pain and suffering on our hero as possible.
The death toll is catastrophic, and we lose a main character when Rex Splode sacrifices himself by charging up his own skeleton to destroy one of the Invincibles. Mark is ultimately able to defeat Levy - who had teleported the remaining variants away when they turned on him - but is left utterly devastated, blaming himself for the death and destruction all around him.
Just when things don't seem like they can get any worse (things can always get worse in this show), a powerful Viltrumite known as Conquest shows up,...

In any conversation about the greatest film critics of all time, lists that would include such prominent voices as Paulene Kael and Leornard Maltin, would have to also include Roger Ebert. Alongside fellow Chicago film critic Gene Siskel, Ebert brought film reviews to a national audience on his various television shows, and his books of film criticism are some of the best of all time.
One of the things that made Roger Ebert one of the most entertaining film critics of all time was that it was equally interesting to hear him discuss films that he loved as it was to listen to him tear into the ones that he hated. One of the genres of movies that Ebert could be the harshest on were horror films, and his least favorite movies in the genre were often ones that cared more about being shocking and gross than being interesting.

Quick Links'Invincible's Is One of Prime Video's Biggest HitsThe 'Guarding the Globe Comic' Why 'Guarding the Globe' Is a No-Brainer Spin-off
Once again proving itself as the best adult animated series on TV in 2025, Invincible's third season introduced several changes during its February 6 premiere. For instance, a year-long jump occurred between seasons, with young superhero Mark Grayson, aka Invincible (Steven Yeun), turning 19. Also donning a new blue superhero suit, Mark has more heroic responsibilities as he leaves adolescence behind and enters adulthood.
Although Prime Video has already renewed Invincible for a fourth season, it's a matter of time before Robert Kirkman's rich source material and countless comic sequels and spin-offs are adapted to television. Given what has transpired in Invincible thus far, the most obvious example is Guarding the Globe, a spin-off that has already been touched on in the main series. Could Prime Video be prepping an official Invincible spin-off?...

At the end of episode 3, Mark discovers a strange robotic device spying on his family right outside their window, and we see a mysterious figure watching from an unknown location in front of some monitors.
In the below promo, we catch a quick glimpse of a futuristic version of the Immortal known as "King Immortal," who seems to be attempting to recruit Invincible for some kind of mission.
If you've read the comics, you're sure to know what's going on, but let's just say Mark is going to have some very difficult choices to make in the build-up to the season finale.

Season 3 of Invincible is less than two weeks away and we know a few things for certain. First, Mark Grayson (Invincible himself) will have his blue and black suit. Comic book fans know this spells disaster for Mark. Second, the third season won’t be split into two parts like its predecessor was - it's good that this won’t happen again as the break in season 2 ruined the momentum. Lastly, there will be unintroduced characters. Among them are Powerplex, Dropkick, and, Fightmaster.
With the new characters came new voice actors. In a recent social media post, Skybound introduced the voice actors playing some of the new heroes and villains who’ll appear in Invincible season 3. Rather than just say who they are, I’ll give you a brief introduction of the character they’re playing without spoilers. Let’s begin.

The third season of Invincible premieres in just a couple weeks! Prime Video has thus far done a fantastic job adapting Robert Kirkman's vibrant superhero comic for the small screen. Part of that success can be chocked up to the incredible voice cast. Oscar nominee Steven Yuen plays Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, a teenager who's starting out into the exciting, violent world of superheroism. His father Omni-Man, the breakout character of the show, is played by gravel-voiced icon J. K. Simmons, and his mother Debbie by Emmy winner Sandra Oh. Other notable voices include Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen, Zachary Quinto, Walton Goggins, Zazie Beetz, Clancy Brown, Nicole Byer, Jason Mantzoukas, Jonathan Groff, Ben Schwartz, Sterling K. Brown and Family Matters' own Reginald VelJohnson.
It's an incredibly impressive cast for what at first glance might look like an updated version of the kinds of Saturday morning cartoons kids watched back in the day.

For the first time in 37 years, the 1987 horror classic is returning to theaters on February 5 and 6 via Fathom Events.

Not only did classic and iconic monsters and horror movie characters take shape during that time, but the brutality of visual horror also went through a major transformation. From the forgotten horror movies of the 1980s to the celebrated franchises,...
