This post contains spoilers from Netflix's Zero Day from this point forward.
One after the other, Netflix has been hitting home runs in the conspiracy thriller genre, whether it's spy series like The Night Agent and The Recruit or political drama The Diplomat. The streamer added to its recently growing list of hit series with the Robert De Niro-led limited series Zero Day, a captivating political thriller that keeps you guessing from start to finish throughout its six episodes.
Zero Day opens amid an unexpected cyberattack on the United States, which lasts for only one minute but does incredible damage and causes multiple fatalities. Because the threat's so ominous, the government launches the Zero Day Commission and requests former and beloved President Mullen (De Niro) to lead the charge in uncovering the truth.

When talking about their new Netflix limited series, the creators of Zero Day have been fielding a common question: How did you get Robert De Niro to do TV?
If you ask De Niro, it’s a simple answer.
“I didn’t have any hesitations,” he tells co-creator Eric Newman in a video interview for The Hollywood Reporter about his first small screen role (above). Not only did De Niro sign on for the lead role, he’s also an executive producer. “When we spoke and met first and [Eric Newman] came back with these episodes little by little, they were all good. I said, ‘This is good, smart.’ And the people writing it, [Newman] and everyone else, Mike Schmidt and Noah Oppenheim, you knew what you were writing about and so that was encouraging.”

This post contains spoilers from Netflix's Zero Day episode 6 from this point forward.
As Monica's death makes the rounds on the news and Dreyer pushes the narrative of her responsibility of the Zero Day attack, Alex enters the war room in total stress. She asks, "Did we do this?" Do what, Alex? Be more specific! She knows that her father won't let Monica Kidder be the end of all of this. There's a loose thread and he will pull. She insists that they have to "come clean," but Dreyer is a menace.
The commission investigates Panoply's coding system and learns how Monica was able to widely spread the malware through app updates and Bluetooth. The coding had an AI engine, which seems just as scary as anything else. Mullen asks if she could have done this on her own, but he doesn't get the answer he was looking for.

This post contains spoilers from Netflix's Zero Day episode 5 from this point forward.
After the unbelievable events of episode 4, including the death of Roger Carlson and the unexpected torture of Evan Green at the behest of Mullen (which has hit the news cycle), Zero Day episode 5 opens with Green being released amid a flurry of cameras and media. It's almost a month since the cyberattack, and Mullen tells Sheila not to hold back at the Oversight Committee.
Dreyer makes a move on Mitchell to take Mullen's place on the Zero Day Commission should he resign, but Mitchell has another idea: dissolve the commission altogether. Meanwhile, Roger's autopsy report has come in. He had heroin in his system, but drowning was his cause of death. Otieno also looked into those photos Roger gave the commission and they were confirmed as deep fakes.

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from all six episodes of “Zero Day,” now streaming on Netflix.
Lizzy Caplan always knew that her character, Congresswoman and former First Daughter Alexandra Mullen, was behind the catastrophic cyberattack that incited the existential and moral panic that runs through “Zero Day.” It’s a plot twist that comes in the early minutes of the finale of Netflix’s latest political thriller, which stars Robert De Niro (in his first major TV role) as President Robert Mullen, an aging, populist former leader who comes out of retirement to run a commission tasked with investigating the devastating nationwide outage.
As far as when she found out about her character’s villainy, she says: “I think it was probably before I read the scripts. I may not have been as aware of the magnitude of her role in it. Maybe I thought there were going to...

This post contains spoilers from Netflix's Zero Day episode 4 from this point forward.
It's been 19 days since the cyberattack when Zero Day episode 4 begins, and there's unfortunately been another attack, this time on the American Homestead Bank. President Mitchell addresses the nation as disgruntled customers protest outside the bank. They are unable to access their accounts, but it goes on step further. Mitchell has placed an immediate freeze on all financial activity through at least the weekend.
During the presser, Mitchell mentions that Mullen has a suspect, potentially for both events, in custody. A reporter asks if it's Evan Green, as Mullen arrested him at the end of episode 3, but she reiterates "a suspect." Dreyer pressures Mitchell to cut Mullen loose as the former president interrogates Green about Leon and Anna Sindler. Green gives him nothing but jokes and asks for a lawyer.

Even Angela Bassett gets nervous when acting with Robert De Niro. The legendary actors costar as U.S. presidents in Netflix‘s Zero Day, which premiered its full six-episode season on Thursday, February 20, marking their first project together since 2001’s The Score. They’re joined by Connie Britton (a 9-1-1 reunion for her and Bassett even if they don’t share many scenes), Matthew Modine, Lizzy Caplan, Dan Stevens, and more, all of whom share what it was like to go toe-to-toe with De Niro in the TV Insider video interview above. Zero Day asks the questions on everyone’s mind: How do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly being torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even of our own imagining? De...

This post contains spoilers from Netflix's Zero Day episode 2 from this point forward.
Picking up in the revelations from episode 1, Zero Day episode 2 begins with Mullen sitting in the helicopter and thinking about the evening before in his office, scribbling in his notebook while talking to Natan. The world around him is glitching, which seems to be symbolic of his uncertain mental state. But the show must go on.
While he's in the air, someone's getting shot at after discovering dead body in a suspicious warehouse in the Bronx. Let's see how that comes into play, but Mitchell's pressing Mullen to find the truth in order to retaliate within three days. Mullen arrives at his new office and meets the team, including PR rep Melissa Kornblau (Mozhan Navabi) and Carl Otieno (McKinley Belcher III) from justice.

So many TV series, limited or ‘"unlimited," are dubbed as binge-able, something the viewers can gulp quickly, often in a single go, but really have the plot, tension, or execution (or neither of those) to deserve the epithet.
Well, if you are seeking one that you can easily muster in one go (with the usual breaks), then Zero Day, the six-episode limited series starring Robert De Niro and a quite stellar cast that just started showing on Netflix is certainly the one for you. Actually, it is a worthy watch, whether you want to binge on it or not.
An intriguing (horrifying) idea is developed into a tense, gripping plot with a number of streams that, in the beginning, pose more questions with possible puzzling answers that slowly unravel with a number of surprising answers that are kept hidden almost or fully to the end.

It is February, and it is still cold outside. You don't want to go out there. Stay inside where it is warm. Eat a bunch of junk, and stream a lot of things on Netflix. While Netflix and chill might not have a very direct meaning, you can interpret that as you want to watch Netflix because you don't want to be chilled.
But what to watch? There is a bunch of new stuff every week on your favorite streaming service, but not everything on this list is brand new. Most of it is, though. We won't lie.
That is only because you might not yet have had a chance to see what is suggested. You should take the weekend off from work (or not go out). You should watch these things instead.

A good problem we all have right now is that there are simply too many shows to watch and so little time. What shows do you choose to watch in your limited free time? Do you stay up to date on Severance season 2 with the rest of the world? Do you escape into the guilty pleasure that is The Traitors on Peacock? Do you dive right into that enticing new Netflix limited series?
The decisions are endless, and when you finish one show, or even one episode, there's always another vying for your attention on any given streamer. Multiple shows are currently in season right now, whether on the tradition small screen or on various streaming services, and it can be tough to choose what to invest your time in watching. Well, we're going to alleviate some of the worry.

The recent political thriller Zero Day, starring Robert De Niro, portrays a shattering cyber attack executed right under the noses of Americans, and its scenario is so scarily plausible that it blurs the thin line between fiction and reality.
More connected than ever, the modern world is also more at risk from cyberattacks than ever before. Cyberattacks have evolved from basic database breaches to more sophisticated hazards that can even risk national security and affect millions of lives.

Such a premise constitutes the backstory of Zero Day, with De Niro playing the role of a former president investigating an unfortunate cyber event. However, with such a credible story, many viewers are left with a question- could such an event actually occur?

The sheer star power on display in Netflix’s new thriller Zero Day is impossible to ignore. Robert De Niro! Angela Bassett! The Friday Night Lights duo of Connie Britton and Jesse Plemons! I wouldn’t blame anyone for checking out Zero Day (now streaming on Netflix; I’ve seen three of the six episodes) just to bask in the glow emanating from these luminaries. But unfortunately, they’re stuck with a clunky script that buries them (and us) in endless exposition and preposterous twists. Glum, convoluted, and ultimately hollow, Zero Day might look like prestige TV — but once you look more closely,...

Sofia Carson is becoming a Netflix star. After being brilliant in 2024's thriller, Carry-On, she will now turn lead in a new Netflix movie called The Life List. The story revolves around a woman who is set on a journey by her mother to re-access her life. The twist is that Carson's character (Alex Rose) is given a new DVD each time she goes about completing tasks on her bucket list.
Mind you, at least some of the bucket list was created when Alex was a child, so some of what she has to do might be something she would never do as an adult. The list includes participating in an open mic night, playing basketball in a one-on-one game, and teaching at a women's shelter. The truth is that the film is not a series of episodes of Alex working her way down the list.

"Life is beautiful & messy & complicated, and sometimes it doesn't look the way you think it's supposed to look. Keep going." Good advice. What made “Mr. Robot” such a captivating hacker drama when it aired in the mid-2010s was its incisive perspective. We followed an individual fed up with the greed of the 1%, the monopoly of corporations in American life and corruption at every level. The show had its gimmicks — twists and turns aimed to pull the rug from under the viewer, but it always felt like it had a lot to say about the status quo.
“Zero Day,” Netflix’s latest six-episode thriller, is another hacker show. Rather than being immersed in the hacker’s philosophy and point of view, we follow a government commission trying to get to the bottom of what happened. It is devoid of that rich point of view — the reasons for the hack, once eventually revealed, are unearned stakes deflated by an entire season of repetitive dead-end plotting and muted performances that don’t do much...

It is devoid of that rich point of view — the reasons for the hack, once eventually revealed, are unearned stakes deflated by an entire season of repetitive dead-end plotting and muted performances that don’t do much...

Sofia Carson in The Life List – Picture: Netflix
In March 2024, Netflix confirmed The Life List, a new romantic comedy starring Sofia Carson. The movie is due out on Netflix soon, so we’re here with everything known about it, including the full cast, production updates, plot details, and more on its release date, which is now set for March 28th.
Adam Brooks is on board to both write and direct the project. The Canadian screenwriter and director is no stranger to the romantic comedy space, having written or directed (or both) titles like Definitely, Maybe, and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, plus the Netflix Original movie Nappily Ever After, released in 2018.
This isn’t the first time The Lift List has been attempted to be brought to the big screen. Ahead of the book’s release in 2013, Fox 2000 optioned the film rights for the novel, with Hutch Parker set to produce.

“When is the last time the country was able to solve any of its problems?” ambitious congresswoman Alexandra Mullen (Lizzy Caplan) screams at her father and former Potus George Mullen (Robert De Niro) in Netflix’s just-launched Zero Day.
It is a fair question for the six-episode political thriller, and for America 2025.
Certainly, in a week that has seen a sitting U.S. president parroting Kremlin bullet points while his manic billionaire buddy takes a blowtorch to the federal government, the political thriller created by Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim and Michael S. Schmidt and starring De Niro, Caplan, Angela Bassett, Joan Allen, Jesse Plemons, Bill Camp, Connie Britton, Dan Stevens, McKinley Belcher III and Matthew Modine, may provide a much needed sugar high of hope — fictional or not. During a lull in the second half of Netflix’s six-part political thriller Zero Day — and there are more lulls than there should be — I began to contemplate how much more efficiently the show’s central crisis could be resolved with the assistance of either Owen Hendricks, the protagonist of Netflix’s The Recruit, or Peter Sutherland, the protagonist of Netflix’s The Night Agent.
Netflix’s recent political thrillers have been rendered largely fungible by the streamer’s compact release schedule. The Diplomat is the best of this group, so I’m going to leave it out of the conversation. The Recruit is a goofy show, but it steers into its absurdities with reckless and fast-moving abandon that I appreciate. The Night Agent takes itself much more seriously, but creator Shawn Ryan has a tremendous internal editing mechanism that keeps the show lean and propulsive.

In the Netflix political thriller Zero Day, a cyberattack shuts down America’s electronic infrastructure. The blackout lasts only one minute, but that’s enough time to leave thousands dead and the surviving millions in a state of fear. With a subsequent cyberattack looming, the government rallies an extraconstitutional task force to locate the source of the initial one. And believe it or not, the least of this terminally dull show’s problems is that the damned committee doesn’t even convene until the second episode.
The first episode is spent establishing the man placed in charge of this task force, ex-President George Mullen (Robert De Niro), who’s as reluctant as you’d hope for anyone to be when entrusted with such a degree of power. But Mullen is less a character than an idea, the fictional concept of the American president made flesh. Emerging from retirement, he makes...

In the limited series, a catastrophic cyberattack brings former US President George Mullen out of retirement to find those responsible for killing thousands and unleashing chaos across the country. TV shows don’t get much more timely than Zero Day. The title refers to a cyberattack that hits the entire US for one solid minute, turning off power supplies everywhere, and showing an ominous message on every smartphone in the country — “This will happen again.” Cars crash, planes fall, hospital equipment fails. Many people die. It’s an attack on an unprecedented scale, which leads to an unprecedented reaction — the Zero Day Commission, set up by serving President Evelyn Mitchell (Angela Bassett) to find the culprits through any means necessary.
Heading up that commission is a very big job indeed — as a certain uncle once said, “With great power comes great responsibility.” That power is given to former President George Mullen (Robert De Niro), a man much admired by the country for his morality and previous bipartisan appeal, but currently struggling to write...

This post contains spoilers from The White Lotus season 3 premiere from this point forward.
After almost two years without a vacation to the most infamous hotel resort on television, The White Lotus has finally returned to HBO with its highly anticipated third season. The Emmy Award-winning satirical anthology series from Mike White comes back with a new cast, a new theme, and a new location for its wealthy guests to escape to for a week of deadly fun.
The White Lotus travels to Thailand for an exploration of spirituality and religion along with the usual themes of privilege, wealth, family, relationships, and dark secrets. No one's leaving their holiday the same person they were when they walked off the boat to the hotel. That's just how it goes when a new batch of guests descend on the hotel that at least attempts to give its patrons a calm stay.

So, what can we expect? Probably some foreboding yet gorgeous shots of the Thai landscape, friction between the staff members of the fictional luxury White Lotus hotel in the Asian country, and a star-studded cast. Season 1, set in Hawaii's beautiful Maui, featured pretty phenomenal performers like Connie Britton, Natasha Rothwell, Steve Zahn, Sydney Sweeney, Molly Shannon, Jake Lacy, Murray Bartlett, and Jennifer Coolidge. Then, in Season 2, which took place in the Sicilian city of Taormina, Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, Meghann Fahy, Theo James, F. Murray Abraham, Leo Woodall, and Haley Lu Richardson, among others, joined Coolidge.

“Cobra Kai” might be officially wrapped up but there are plenty of other shows that can scratch that lingering itch.
When the “Karate Kid” sequel series was at it’s best it was a bingeable mix of ’80s nostalgia, sports drama, and high school melodrama that balanced comedy with more serious moments. Luckily there are a number of other great – and equally bingeable – shows out there.

Celebrated film actor Jesse Plemons is appearing in the TV series Zero Day for Netflix, and he has shared why it has been left deliberately vague whether the political characters on screen are Democrats or Republicans.
Plemons co-stars alongside Robert De Niro and Connie Britton, and he plays aide Roger Carlson to former US president George Mullen, played by De Niro. But neither they nor the serving president Evelyn Mitchell (Angela Bassett) are given clear political affiliations.
Plemons told The Times of London:
“When you do get into the specifics of a political party, it gives you an out immediately as a viewer to either say ‘I’m for this person’ or ‘I’m against them.’ Something disengages as you’re watching. We don’t really need any more of that.”
Not revealing which side of the political divide he sits himself, Plemons said diplomatically:

When Mike White launched “The White Lotus” in 2021 as a limited series, the production was confined by pandemic protocols, making for a small-in-scope yet star-studded season.

Robert De Niro’s first foray into series television proved to be an endurance test for the legendary actor, who compared filming Netflix’s “Zero Day” to swimming the English Channel — with no sight of either shore.
“It is like doing three features back to back,” De Niro said at a preview event in London on Wednesday. “I was in most of it. And so I had to keep up with everything, even as simple as knowing the lines. So I likened it to being in the English channel — swimming to England from France, looking behind me and not seeing France, looking ahead, not seeing England. Exclusive: Hulu is not proceeding with Downforce, opting not to pick up the comedy pilot starring Eve Hewson and Murray Bartlett to series, sources tell Deadline.
From the Silicon Valley duo of Alec Berg and Adam Countee, Downforce follows Victoria (Hewson), the estranged daughter of a storied racing team’s owner, Sir Trevor (Bartlett), who is thrust back into the family business, leaving the pair to find common ground or risk destroying the team’s legacy.
The cast also includes Harry Delano (Freud’s Last Session), Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen), Amar Chadha-Patel (The Decameron) and Arturo Del Puerto (For All Mankind).
The project, a dream pairing of two in-demand actors in The Perfect Couple and Bad Sisters’ Hewson and The White Lotus and The Last Of Us‘ Bartlett, originated at the now defunct ABC Signature where Barry co-creator Berg and Countee had been under overall deals. The banner was...
