Above the North Atlantic Ocean, a terrorist group hijack Oceanic Flight 420. The countdown begins as the Nsa try finding a way to combat the situation before the plane’s fuel runs out. Director Hawkins (Alec Baldwin) plans to shoot down the plane before it does catastrophic damage on the ground, although Deputy Toyin (Jo Martin) wishes to put faith in their asset; an Interpol agent working undercover amongst the hijackers.

A key moment has Hawkins declare “This is not the beginning of some heroic story”, before calmly explaining his rationalisation of sacrificing a plane of innocent civilians to save other lives. While that moment begins explaining the boss’ mindset during this crisis, it also attempts to tell audiences not to...

Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Teams With Britain’s Royal Shakespeare Company To Make Puppets For Stage Show Based On Hayao Miyazaki’s ‘My Neighbour Totoro’
Image
Jim Henson’s Creature Shop animatronics and visual effects studio, based in Los Angeles, has teamed with Britain’s Royal Shakespeare Company to produce life-size puppets for the RSC’s stage adaptation of legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki’s 1988 hand-drawn classic My Neighbour Totoro.

The RSC’s most ambitious project to date — even more so than the award-winning theater company’s original productions of musicals Les Miserables and Matilda the Musical — My Neighbour Totoro now has creatives working on it at bases in London, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Los Angeles and Tokyo.

Show will feature the score that composer Joe Hisaishi created for the film, plus additional music that wasn’t used in the movie.

Set in 1950s Japan, the story follows the adventures of Satsuki and Mei, young sisters who move from Tokyo city to the countryside. Once there they encounter spirits and awesome creatures. Two furry ones capture their imaginations: a...

Monster-Movie Mayhem: ‘The Dinosaur Project’ Review
Stars: Natasha Loring, Matt Kane, Richard Dillane, Peter Brooke, Stephen Jennings | Written by Sid Bennett, Jay Basu | Directed by Sid Bennett

The Dinosaur Project is the (fictional) story of a missing Congo expedition and the findings of the Cryptozoological Society to audiences around the world. The film features stunning recovered footage of creatures thought to be extinct for 65 million years. As the search for the missing crew continues, questions remain about the source of the missing footage and the manner in which it was discovered.

Before I go any further, heres the now-defacto disclaimer: This is a found-footage movie. And you all know how much I despise the sub-genre. When its done wrong its usually done Very wrong and when its good Well I cant remember the last time it was! What also works against The Dinosaur Project is that you just cant help but compare it to Jurassic Park...

Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines Celebrates Halloween with Torture and Mayhem: A Movie Review
*there are spoilers here. Director/writer: Declan O'Brien. Cast: Doug Bradley, Roxanne McKee, Camilla Arfwedson, Borislav Iliev, Peter Brooke, Paul Luebke, Kyle Redmond-Jones, Radoslav Parvanov, Amy Lennox, Duncan Wisbey, Oliver Hoare, George Karlukovski, and Simon Ginty. The Wrong Turn series of films has become a little confusing to follow. Two mutant hillbillies were killed in the original Wrong Turn film: Saw Tooth and One Eye. This left Three Finger alone to fight in Wrong Turn 2: Dead End and Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead. Three Finger's deformed son Three Toes would participate in the second sequel. And, in Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, the action begins after Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings and before the original Wrong Turn and the next two sequels. Are you confused now too? Director Declan O'Brien has had to play around with the timeline of this horror franchise a bit as many of the...

The Dinosaur Project Review
If there is one thing you can say about Sid Bennett’s The Dinosaur Project, is that it is exactly what you would expect from a found footage orientated, British film about dinosaurs. And that, unfortunately, is not a positive acknowledgement.

The film begins as a couple of local inhabitants in the Congolese jungle find a bag which has tapes of footage within it, documenting a British group of explorers’ improbable journey into the jungle where they discovered a colony of dinosaurs. Amongst those ambitious explorers – who had set off to Africa based on sightings of an unidentifiable sea creature – are Marchant (Richard Dillane), his troublesome teenage son Luke (Matt Kane), Dr. Liz Draper (Natasha Loring), and Charlie (Peter Brooke), amongst others.

As the group’s helicopter crashes in the wilderness, they find themselves stranded, and as they delve deeper into the forest, they unearth a settlement of the creatures that had been presumed extinct,...

A New UK Quad for The Dinosaur Project Rears its Prehistoric Head
A new and admittedly less interesting exclusive quad poster for new British adventure thriller 'The Dinosaur Project' has arrived. It's not a patch on the previous quad, featured below, but just another reminder that the cool looking feature is set to hit UK theatres next month. The Sid Bennett helmed horror is somewhere between 'Jurassic Park' and 'Monsters' and uses the found footage style to showcase a small expedition group who discover a lost prehistoric world. It stars gorgeous blonde Brit Natasha Loring ('Beaver Falls') as well as Matt Kane ('The Cut'), Peter Brooke ('Wrong Turn 5''), Richard Dillane ('Argo') and Stephen Jennings ('Starship Troopers 3: Marauder'). Afm '11: Sales Art for 'The Dinosaur Project'
The Dinosaur Project (2012)
Back in May StudioCanal has announced The Dinosaur Project which has already commenced principal photography in South Africa. Yet to settle on a title, the IMDb is listing Peter Brooke (Red Lights, The Dark Knight) cast as "Charlie Rutherford", Natasha Loring as "Dr. Liz Draper" and Matt Kane. In November 2010, TV programmakers Sid Bennett and Tom Pridham and producer Nick Hill walked into the London office of StudioCanal with an idea for a movie "about a father-and-son documentary team who discover dinosaurs in the African jungle." They had an outline, a showreel, a budget, a plan for the vfx and a clear timetable to progress rapidly into production -- but no script. StudioCanal took the bait. Budget is under $16 million. Check out the official Afm synopsis and art for what's being described as "the most exciting dinosaur action movie since Jurassic Park!

The film marks the directorial debut feature from CGI experts Sid Bennett and Tom Pridham, who recently formed their own production company, Kent Films. StudioCanal is handling world sales.

The project is described as “Jurassic Park meets Blair Witch in the style of District 9.” But producer Nick Hill also notes: “It’s not grainy hand-held; it will look beautiful and crisp and clear.”

The Dinosaur Project will tell the story...

Exclusive: David Cross Talks The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret
Iconic comedian David Cros tells us all about his upcoming IFC series that finds Todd Margaret destroying London one bad life choice at a time

David Cross has a strange reputation. Some consider him abrasive and too hyper-intelligent for his own good. Even he acknowledges that he can be a supreme dick on the not-so-rare occasion. A man with no patience for the dulling of American, he's really not a bad guy at heart. He's a comedian after all. And very approachable when not being scrutinized about some of his more lofty career choices such as Alvin and the Chipmunks. Sometimes, people have a problem with his attitude simply because he never hides under a fake fa&#231ade. He's just a dude, and that authentic average Joe enthusiasm sometimes throws people for a loop.

Approach David Cross as an admirer and a fan, he's as cordial and polite as any...
