Nancy Nagrant Playing Relative of Original ‘Friday the 13th’ Character in ‘Crystal Lake’
Image
Casting continues on the upcoming Friday the 13th television series “Crystal Lake,” with filming on the project underway as we speak. The series from Peacock and A24 is set to be an expanded prequel to the original slasher classic from 1980, and that’s been reflected by many of the casting announcements that have been hitting our desk in recent weeks.

Callum Vinson is playing a young Jason Voorhees in the series, with Linda Cardellini starring as Mrs. Voorhees. Cameron Scoggins is playing Dorf, also a character from the original Friday the 13th, with Nick Cordileone as “Crazy Ralph,” Danielle Kotch as Claudette, and Phoenix Parnevik as Barry, all characters from that original movie.

The fan website Friday the 13th Franchise additionally reports today that Nancy Nagrant has joined the cast as Kay Christy, a relative of Steve Christy from Friday the 13th (1980)!

Steve Christy was played by Peter Brouwer in Sean Cunningham’s slasher classic,...

Friday the 13th: Best Endings in the Franchise
Image
Another Friday the 13th is upon us – unfortunately, we’re just talking about the date, not the release of a new Friday the 13th movie. But while the future of Friday the 13th currently depends on what happens with the Crystal Lake TV series, we can still go back and revisit the awesome F13 movies we have received over the years… and now we have decided to go through our Friday the 13th films collection and pick the top 5 Best Endings in the Friday the 13th Franchise!

Friday The 13th Part III (1982)

This one is all about the chase. While Steve Miner’s Friday the 13th Part III was at one time expected to be the last movie in the franchise (so they made it extra special by shooting it in 3-D), the way Jason is dispatched doesn’t feel like a finishing blow. An axe to his hockey mask-protected...

Friday the 13th Fans Get an Amazing Streaming Surprise for January
Image
Fans of the Friday the 13th movie series have a good reason to go binge-watch the original series of eight films from Paramount Pictures.

As reported by ComicBook, the first eight Friday the 13th films have been made available to watch for free on the free streaming platform Pluto TV. This includes all of the original movies to have Friday the 13th as part of the title, all of which were made under the Paramount umbrella. They are also the complete set of films from the franchise to be released in the 1980s, with the eighth film dropping in 1989. For some fans of the franchise, it marked the end of an era before the ninth installment, Jason Goes to Hell, took the movie series in a wildly different direction.

Image
Stand-up comedian / actor Bill Burr just made his feature directorial debut with the Netflix-released comedy Old Dads (you can read the JoBlo review at This Link), which is cool and all… but here on Arrow in the Head, the horror side of the JoBlo Network, we’re more interested in hearing Burr’s opinions on horror films. The video can be seen at the bottom of this article, and over the course of its five minutes he admits that the final jump scare in Friday the 13th really did scare the hell out of him, says that the franchise...

Three years ago, Paramount Pictures gave the 1980 classic Friday the 13th (watch it Here) a Blu-ray steelbook release to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary. Now the folks at Fridaythe13thFranchise have caught word that Paramount is set to give the film a 4K steelbook release on October 10th – three days before an actual Friday the 13th rolls around on the calendar. It looks like this steelbook will be using the same artwork as the Blu-ray steelbook, but it will also come with a slipcover featuring artwork that was used for Waxwork Records’ vinyl release of the film’s score.

‘Friday the 13th’ (1980) – Movie Review
Image
Sean S. Cunningham directs this legendary Friday 13, the first of an endless saga of terror films that gave rise to one of the bloodiests baddies in the history of movies: Jason Voorhees

Friday 13 was the second slasher in the history of movies which for many might not seem to be much, but for fans of horror films, this was a revelation and for producers a product with great rentability.

Premise

In the Crystal Lake camp two kids have died recently, and now the camp attempts to open its gates again with new monitors who arrive at the camp to prepare everything. However, someone does not seem to agree with this and starts methodically killing off the campers.

Friday the 13th The Movie

They say good movies don´t age, well, Friday 13 has aged and a lot. I watched it the other day and it seemed like a very old film,...

Friday The 13th Full Movie Franchise Timeline Explained
Image
Sean Cunningham’s Friday the 13th (1980) is one of the most iconic franchises of the slasher era, but the timeline of the events quickly becomes convoluted — and the problem begins from the very first sequel, Friday the 13th Part 2. With the Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake on the way, there's no better time to look back at the timeline. The low-budget film that Cunningham made in response to the huge success of John Carpenter's 1978 horror masterclass Halloween was given a strong marketing push by the studio. The television commercials and print ads created audience awareness uncommon for such an under-the-radar film with no marketable stars. The violent shocker ended up grossing nearly 40 million domestically, easily making the top twenty film releases that year.

Friday the 13th spawned seven sequels under the Paramount banner, as well as three New Line Cinema follow-ups (sans the Friday the 13th title...

“It’s got a death curse!” One of the most well known slashers in American horror doesn’t need to be refreshed in most horror fans minds because they know it very well. What the crew thought would just be a simple slasher film turned out to be a movement that spurned an entire franchise around it even spawning a remake in the 21st century. For me personally, this is the film that got me into horror to begin with. I remember...
