Why Rick Moranis Retired From Acting at the Apex of His Career
Image
Moranis's rise to fame through comedy films like Ghostbusters and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids made him a household name in the '80s. After taking a long hiatus from live-action acting to focus on family and his children, Moranis is being wooed for a potential comeback. Despite his reluctance to return to the spotlight, Moranis may be persuaded to reprise iconic roles in reboots like Honey or Spaceballs.

Rick Moranis was part of a lineage of Canadian talent that funneled through comedy radio and Sctv, first gaining widespread attention in America for his role in Strange Brew in 1983. Just a year later, he leveled up, playing Louis Tully in the paranormal comedy Ghostbusters, which became a smash hit and helped make Moranis a movie star. Further supporting roles in hilarious films like Spaceballs and Parenthood galvanized his star before he wound up leading the family adventure comedy Honey, I Shrunk the Kids...

Robert Palmer Watkins in Mystery Action 'Last Three Days' Trailer
Thomas Wilson Brown, Roy Huang, Robert Palmer Watkins, Phillip Burton, and Robert Ashley in Last Three Days (2020)
"Jack - you don't look so good." Brotherhood Studios has released an official trailer for an indie action film titled Last Three Days, a mysterious sort-of-sci-fi crime drama starring Robert Palmer Watkins. This is being released direct-to-vod without any other premiere before, and it looks like straight-to-bargain-bin mediocre. Mixed up with a dangerous crime syndicate, an undercover cop wakes up to find he's missing his partner, his wife, and the last three days of his life. What caused this and where did they go? Caught in the middle of police corruption, hunted by the syndicate, and unable to trust his own perception of reality, Jack must race against time to save the life he's lost. Also starring Thomas Wilson Brown, Deborah Lee Smith, Roy Huang, Gina Hiraizumi, Clint Jung, and Holly Hawkins. Another bland crime syndicate film with masks on the bad guys, this time Japanese masks but that doesn't...

Girls Get Hunted at The Mooring This February
Terror has found a new home. Northern Idaho? Seems so, at least according to the makers of the new survival horror flick The Mooring that Lionsgate will be putting out on DVD this coming February.

Every 40 seconds, a person goes missing. In northern Idaho, a group of teenage girls attend a summer camp to help them connect with nature - without technology. They're told it will be a summer of change. When the girls' houseboat is suddenly stranded in the middle of a river, an odd couple comes to their aid. But what's supposed to be an act of kindness turns deadly and the girls find themselves on the run, pursued through the forest by a brutal, determined killer.

Karli Blalock, Larissa Hayden, Lilli Hendrickson, and Erin McIntosh are amongst the newcomers being hunted by “Little Russell” from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (actor Thomas Wilson Brown), now all grown...

Retro Active: Diggstown (1992)
by Nick Schager

[This week's "Retro Active" pick is inspired by Kevin James' Ufc comedy Here Comes the Boom.]

It's hustler versus hustler in the main event of Diggtsown, Michael Ritchie's underrated 1992 boxing comedy (based on Leonard Wise's novel) about the ever-entertaining art of the con. In a small Georgia enclave known as Diggstown, due to its being home to legendary fighter Charles Macum Diggs (Wilhelm von Homburg), virtually everything is owned by John Gillon (Bruce Dern), a businessman in a light blue suit and flashing a giant, cocky smile who intends to soon hand the reigns of his empire over to son Robby (Thomas Wilson Brown). That plan, however, is rudely interrupted by the arrival of professional con man Gabriel Caine (James Woods), recently paroled and motivated by inside information about Gillon from a Diggstown-hailing inmate known as Wolf (Randall "Tex" Cobb) to visit the area in order to pull off a grand scheme. Caine's release from jail after helping another pal break out,...
