Bella Thorne, Jack Kilmer To Topline ‘The Tower,’ Fantasy Drama Filming Under SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement; Adam Sigal Directing
Image
Exclusive: Bella Thorne (Divinity) and Jack Kilmer (Palo Alto) have been set to topline The Tower, one of 102 projects to have been granted a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement following the launch of the actors strike. Also set for the fantastical drama, from filmmaker Adam Sigal (Nandor Fodor and The Talking Mongoose), are Cam Gigandet (Violent Night) and Chris Mullinax (Chariot).

The film currently in production is billed as a dark tale about a mysterious mermaid trapped and forgotten for years in the water tower of a small Southern town. Sigal described it as his “attempt to interpret the isolation and wanderlust I felt growing up in a small Southern town.”

The Tower is among the projects that began shooting shortly before the SAG-AFTRA strike launched and went on pause in the wake of the walkout until the securement of a SAG waiver. Producers are B.I. Rosen, Frederic Demey, James Bruce,...

'The Voice' UK: Five best blind auditions week five - watch
Following the fifth episode of The Voice UK, Digital Spy presents our top five blind auditions from the show.

Jamie Bruce - The 6' 5" singer blew the judges away with his deep voice. His version of 'Try a Little Tenderness' got will so excited he even forgot to pose as he turned his chair. Despite the 'Scream & Shout' star saying he was "blown away" by his voice, the 34-year-old went with Tom.

Paul Carden - His previous band experience was obvious as he pranced around the stage holding his microphone stand in a Freddie Mercury-esque way. Danny turned his chair right at the last minute and the Scouser won a slot on his team with a gravelly take on the Bruno Mars track 'Locked Out of Heaven'.

Jordan Lee Davies - The 22-year-old admitted to not being your average-looking popstar, but as the son of a bodybuilder he...

'The Voice' UK teams so far: Who is your favourite?
It's week five and the teams are filling up quickly. Each coach added to their vastly different teams, but which is your favourite? Digital Spy takes a look at the new additions.

Team will

High-pitched Jordan Lee Davies won a place on the producer's team after his version of The Darkness hit 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love'. The South Wales boy was praised for his range, but will his falsetto win the public vote?

will also turned for duo Nu-tarna after hearing their very loud version of Katy Perry's 'Part of Me'. Kelly and Elesha made will spin for the huge amount of energy in their performance, but will it be too much for the public?

will currently has the smallest team, with a total of nine performers. He still has three spaces to fill.

Team Jessie

Last week Jessie was the most prolific coach,...

Watch Evan Ross And Harold Perrineau In “Case 219″ Trailer
Still making the rounds on the festival circuit, Case 219 is an intense dramatic film that deals with teenage school violence and the ramifications it causes. It stars Evan Ross, Levin Rambin, Taylor Nichols, Melora Walters and Harold Perrineau.

Based on the novel Shooter by Walter Dean Myers, the story of a high school shooting rampage unfolds in a series of tense and suspenseful documentary style interviews conveyed through the eyes of a Los Angeles Times journalist. The film penetrates the everyday lives of the shooter’s best friends and family in pursuit of learning what triggered the violent acts. These provocative and haunting interviews leave the audience with the dilemma of who is really to blame.

Director and screenwriter James Bruce discovered the book Shooter when his teen-age son, Samuel, handed it to him and said, “Dad, you should make a movie out of this book.” After reading Shooter,...

Bryan Cranston Pays A Visit To The Spin Doctor
Comedy Central's Atom.com released an original web series The Handlers, a comedy about a group of spin doctors doing whatever it takes to get their client elected. Three time Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Malcolm in the Middle) stars as State Senator candidate Jack Power, a hapless politician who's constantly finding himself in hot water. Not to fear: his crack team of ambitious campaign operatives will stop at nothing to keep him in the running, like encouraging intentional on-air verbal slip-ups involving genitalia to improve ratings, and proposing daily engagement with prostitutes to appeal to the common man. The Handlers group consists of actors Matt Braunger, Andrea Cansler, Josh Dean, and Gary Anthony Williams. Interestingly, the series is based on Henaut President, an French web series featured on Dailymotion.com from Michel Muller, Antoine Benguigui, David Elkaim, and Vincent Poymiro. The Handlers shares...

Saturday Night Live (1975)
'Breaking Bad' star Bryan Cranston on his Golden Globe nomination and upcoming 'SNL'-esque Web series
Saturday Night Live (1975)
Bryan Cranston was in bed when his Golden Globe nomination in the Best Actor category for Breaking Bad was announced yesterday, but who can blame him? Between his work on six feature films and his upcoming Saturday Night Live-meets-Curb Your Enthusiasm Web series on Atom.com, The Handlers, the actor hasn’t had much time for R&R since concluding season 3 of his critically lauded AMC drama (EW critic Ken Tucker’s pick for best show of 2010), which returns this summer.

In an interview with EW, Cranston talked about his nomination and the political satire show that he...

Uncovered: 1995 New York Underground Film Festival Picks
I’ve remarked a couple of times on the site in the past that there’s little to no reference sources online for the first two New York Underground Film Festivals, held in 1994 and 1995. The official Nyuff website has had its archives offline for, I think, over a year now. If you go to their site, they simply direct you to what’s available on the site Archive.org. (And, from my own experience, it’s a safe bet not to assume your stuff will be on Archive.org forever — it can really vanish at any minute.)

At Archive.org, the Nyuff archives only go back to 1996. I don’t know if the fest had a web presence those first two years or not, but whether they were ever there, the optimum point is that they’re not there now and probably never will be. And my own personal assumption...

Shaun Cassidy
'Missing' in action at CBS
Shaun Cassidy
CBS might be extending its crime brand into the reality genre.

The network has ordered a pilot presentation of a procedural reality show called "Missing You," in which a team of investigators takes on a different missing-persons case each week.

One of the show's executive producers is '70s teen sensation Shaun Cassidy, who has since gone on to produce such scripted TV fare as ABC's 2005 series "Invasion" and the CBS cult fave "American Gothic."

If the project is picked up, "Missing" will provide a reality counterpoint to the network's scripted crime fare including "CSI" and "The Mentalist."

CBS has toyed with a similar idea before, teaming with Mark Burnett in 2004 to develop "Recovery," a show about the search for kidnapped children.

With CBS' dramas and comedies performing well, and reality competition veterans such as "Survivor" and "Big Brother" continuing to be strong on the unscripted side, the network has...
