On the precipice of a new millennium, the world held its breath for the Y2K bug, a digital apocalypse that never quite arrived. One More Shot resurrects that specific, widespread anxiety and distills it into a personal crisis. The film is set on New Year’s Eve 1999, a night crackling with the ambient fear of a global system crash.
Our guide through this temporal minefield is Minnie (Emily Browning), an anaesthetist whose professional life is in order but whose personal life feels distinctly out of sync with her peers. She is a woman adrift, prodded into attending a party by the news that her ex-flame, Joe, the one who presumably got away, will be present.
Here lies the hope of rewriting a personal history. The mechanism for this revision is not a souped-up car or a complex machine, but something far more pedestrian and potent: a dusty bottle of tequila.

This Australian time-loop comedy starring Emily Browning, Aisha Dee and Ashley Zukerman is pleasingly derivative

Ah, the pleasures of the time loop comedy! This wacky sub-genre could easily have been a novelty deployed once or twice then heard of no more, but the genius of Groundhog Day almost single-handedly entrenched it in the zeitgeist. Harold Ramis’ 1993 classic spawned an ever-expanding array of stories involving protagonists who find themselves doomed to repeat the same time period – be it day, night, wedding ceremony or alien invasion– again and again.
Or could that be “blessed” to repeat it? While Bill Murray’s grouchy weatherman found himself trapped in a small town with crappy weather, Emily Browning’s protagonist Minnie in One More Shot can choose whether she wants to rewind time or keep moving forward. The narrative of Nick Clifford’s modestly enjoyable Australian film takes...

It’s been only a year since Prison Break returned to Netflix globally, allowing subscribers outside the US to enjoy all five seasons and ninety episodes, which we’ve now learned will be leaving the streamer again soon. Created by Paul Scheuring for Fox, the crime drama debuted on August 29, 2005, and concluded with a nine-episode fifth season that ran from April 4 to May 30, 2017. Later on, it made its way to Netflix, where it was initially removed internationally in January 2022, but returned in September 2024, months after Netflix US re-added the show in July.
As part of a content licensing deal with Disney for legacy Fox titles, Netflix re-added the hit action thriller to its catalog for a single year, which is set to end next month. With that, Prison Break will not be available to subscribers in all international regions, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, all of Latin America, Europe,...

Prison Break was revived — and not for the first time — on Netflix last year when it was added to the platform and topped Nielsen charts for months straight. This prompted Hulu to greenlight a Prison Break reboot near the end of 2024, one that reportedly had no plans to bring back any former Prison Break stars. However, this didn’t stop fans from speaking their mind, with many calling for original stars Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller to return as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows. Purcell, who is also known for his work as Mick Rory in DC’s Arrowverse, decided he’s heard enough. Purcell took to his personal Instagram to definitively respond to the rumors, shutting them down and confirming he will not return in the Prison Break reboot.
The Prison Break reboot is reportedly set in the same universe as the original Prison Break, but featuring all-new characters.

Hulu’s plans for a Prison Breakreboot continue to expand, with their pilot adding a Justified and The Americans star to their growing cast roster. First announced in November 2023, work on the reboot of the popular 2000’s crime thriller began gathering steam in March when Emily Browning (American Gods), Lukas Cage (The White Lotus) and Drake Rodger (The Winchesters) were first announced as series regulars. Since then, the Prison Break reboot’s cast list has also expanded to include Mayans M.C. alums Clayton Cardenas and Jr Bourne, as well as Georgie Flores (Kappa Kappa Die) and Myles Bullock (Runaways).
Per Variety, Justified star Margo Martindale has now been tapped to join the pilot as Jessica Strand, “the Warden of one of the deadliest prisons in America.” Other cast additions include another Mayan M.C. star Ray McKinnon as private detective Joe Dahl. The Prison Break reboot is building its cast one eerie guest star at a time. Hulu’s upcoming pilot set in the world of the original Fox series has just added four more actors in major guest roles — and they’re bringing some serious genre cred with them. As reported by Variety, Ray McKinnon, Margo Martindale, Donal Logue, and Lili Taylor have joined the pilot in guest spots. The new series hails from Mayans M.C. co-creator Elgin James, and while the exact plot is still under wraps, it’s clear this version of Prison Break is putting together a crew that could rival Michael, Linc, Sucre and T-Bag.
McKinnon will play Joe Dahl, a private detective haunted by a long-cold case. Martindale takes on the role of Jessica Strand, the no-nonsense warden of one of the most dangerous prisons in the country. Logue appears as Holt Keane, a grieving...

Elgin James’ Prison Break pilot from Hulu and 20th Television has added some heavy hitters to its supporting cast, including Ray McKinnon, Margo Martindale, Donal Logue, Lili Taylor and Sylvester Powell (All American: Homecoming). Production is set to begin next week in West Virginia.
The project reunites McKinnon with James, who collaborated on Mayans M.C., which the latter co-created and the former starred in. McKinnon, who played the evil Lincoln Potter in Sons of Anarchy and its spinoff, Mayans M.C., will also reconnect with his former co-stars Clayton Cardenas and Jr Bourne, who have series regular roles in the Prison Break pilot. McKinnon and Logue had major roles in FX’s hit biker drama Sons of Anarchy.

Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) has a special gift. During the five seasons "Prison Break" was on the air, he showed that there wasn't a single penitentiary on the planet he couldn't break in or out of. Granted, he didn't visit every prison in the world, but the show establishes that he knows how to get out of any sticky situation, so why should we believe that there are any cells that could keep him locked up? For viewers, Michael's escapades provided some edge-of-the-seat entertainment, even when the series started getting ridiculous and running out of steam.
Then again, prison wasn't the only problem Michael had to contend with on "Prison Break." At one point, he suffers from a brain tumor that puts his life in danger, requiring him to get an experimental treatment. However, his problems further intensify when he enters into business with some bad people and gets caught up in an explosion.

This post contains spoilers for "Ghost Ship."
In 2002, Steve Beck's "Ghost Ship" sailed into theaters and became a decent commercial success, grossing $68.3 million at the global box office against a $20 million budget. It was no critical darling either, as the film seemed more preoccupied with scary special effects (which look dated now) than telling a coherent story that leaves a strong impression. Still, while "Ghost Ship" is not the kind of horror movie you watch for its riveting plot, it makes for a perfectly enjoyable slasher that doesn't adhere to logic or practicality. It's also derivative as heck for the most part, although "Ghost Ship" doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. The film unabashedly embraces its gimmick-laden B-movie roots and plays as a typical 2000s horror movie, swapping out competent storytelling for ultra-stylized gore.

Five years after 300 and two years before Man of Steel, director Zack Snyder co-wrote and directed a 2011 dark fantasy adventure film that caused a bit of controversy. Now, Sucker Punch, which Snyder co-wrote with Steve Shibuya, is streaming on Paramount+.

The Prison Break reboot at Hulu may not be giving us another season with Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), but it is giving us quite the new cast to make up for it. According to a new report from Variety, the Elgin James-created reboot has cast three series regulars — and they all come from majorly successful shows.
Emily Browning, Lukas Gage, and Drake Rodger have been cast to lead the show for the pilot episode that has been ordered by the streamer. And while you may not know those names off the top of your head, you absolutely know their faces and have likely seen (and loved!) at least one thing they have done in recent years.
Set in the same world as the original Prison Break, but telling an entirely new story of its own, the show will focus on three characters to be played by the actors above.

Spoiler Alert !!!This review’s about to spill the tequila on One More Shot. If you haven’t seen it yet, tread carefully—you’ve been warned!
Alright, let’s talk about time travel. Who hasn’t wondered what they’d do if they could turn back the clock for just a minute? You know, fix a mistake, take a different path, or maybe just relive a moment that felt too good to be true. One More Shot, helmed by Nicholas Clifford, plays with this idea, wrapping it up in a fun little bow with time-traveling tequila, set on New Year’s Eve, 1999.
At first, I thought this could be a fun, quirky ride—you know, like a rom-com with a twist. But, like that one shot of tequila, you regret it the morning after; the movie’s initial thrill fades quickly, and you’re left wondering what exactly just happened.

When it comes to revisiting the gateway horror media that haunted our youth, we often find ourselves baffled by the silly and often laughable things that used to scare us. However, sometimes the opposite is true. Sometimes we look back on a piece of media that we enjoyed as children only to realize that it was much darker than our naïve brains could fully comprehend at the time.
A great example of this is Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, a series of Young Adult novels defined by their generally gothic tone and frequent use of gallows humor. While these books were a tremendous hit among the Scholastic crowd (and often served as a dreary substitute for kids who weren’t into Harry Potter), they also contained numerous gruesome deaths and genuinely disturbing plot points that still distress readers to this day. And with the 2000s seeing a...

It says a lot about the human condition, or at least the human ego, that the majority of our post-apocalyptic stories are about people who survive the apocalypse and become way more kickass. As opposed to, say, stories about the cockroaches who live on after we destroy ourselves, which is probably a more plausible scenario. The apocalypse looks like a pretty bad time in movies like “Fury Road” and “The Matrix” but the post-apocalypse is going to be pretty darned cool if those movies are any indication. At least that’s what Hollywood is selling.
Paul W.S. Anderson is no stranger to the post-apocalyptic subgenre. He’s made multiple “Resident Evil” films set in the aftermath of a zombie outbreak. Those films starred action hero Milla Jovovich as a superpowered post-apocalyptic warrior named Alice. But that was then and this is now, so he’s mixing it up a little with “In the Lost Lands.

Zack Snyder has developed an infamous reputation for being divisive among fans. While no one can deny that he is an auteur with a specific stylish approach to filmmaking, his work has not necessarily impressed the fans and the general public. His first two films Dawn of The Dead and 300 remain his most beloved works which showcased the best of Snyder as a director.

When Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch premiered in 2011, it was met with a polarizing reception. Critics and audiences were off-put by its unique style, ambitious narrative structure, and the way it blended genres. As someone who initially viewed the film through a less mature lens, I found myself unimpressed by its convoluted plot and perceived lack of substance. Hell, I even watched it twice upon release to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. As time went on, I had moved on from the stale taste it bestowed upon me. So much so that I had even skipped any future Snyder offerings, yes, this includes his Dceu output. Maybe I’ll get to those one day. Who knows? However, one thing I do know is for certain: Zack Snyder loves himself a director’s cut of his films. Recently, he has expressed his determination to give his first original film the ol’ Snyder Cut treatment,...

Movie adaptations of The Twilight Saga were successful but received criticism for lack of self-awareness and tension, focusing more on romance. The cast members were not all the right age for their characters, with some members appearing too young and others appearing older. Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner were both actually the same age as their characters in the first Twilight movie.

It's not a controversial statement to say that Zack Snyder can be a polarizing filmmaker. His fans will defend him until they're blue in the face, while his detractors will liken him to cinematic cancer. Me? I'm more of a Snyder agnostic. I like some of his movies, I dislike others. But there's one positive thing I can say for sure: the man knows how to craft an image. Like many filmmakers of his generation, Snyder got his start in music videos, and that taught him how to create memorable, evocative imagery that looks, for lack of a better word, cool.
"Cool" seems to be Snyder's approach to his visuals in general — and you know what? He frequently succeeds. Even if you don't like the Snyder film you're watching, there's a good chance it'll still be loaded with cool images. Because of Snyder's penchant for visual fireworks, his movies often lend themselves to great trailers.
