Trivia

Robert Brownjohn

Edit
  • He was a heroin addict for many years, which led directly to his early death.
  • Famous for his opening credit design on two popular James Bond films, From Russia With Love and Goldfinger, he can be seen as Freddie Jones's tough bodyguard Paul in the movie Otley, which was a satire of the spy/espionage genre.
  • He did the opening credits for The Night of the Generals, co-starring Tom Courtenay, and then played a thug constantly chasing Courtenay in his one acting role, Otley.
  • Designed the famous album cover (a photograph of his sculpture) for The Rolling Stones album Let It Bleed.
  • He was the first to provide the opening sequence artwork for a Bond film with an original song named after the movie, that being Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey (both Dr. No, which he didn't work on, and From Russia With Love, his first, used the Bond theme for the opening).
  • Was part of the 1950's jazz scene, friends with the likes of Miles Davis and Billie Holiday, to name just a few.
  • Born in American with English parents, who ended up moving to England with his own family, eventually working on the two James Bond films in which he's best known.
