Before joining Fleetwood Mac, he was in a band with Stevie Nicks called Buckingham Nicks.

Fleetwood Mac was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 6608 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA.

Brother of Gregg Buckingham, a silver medalist in swimming in the 1968 Olympics.

Lives in Los Angeles with his wife and children.

His son, Will Buckingham, plays guitar, as well.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 (as a member of Fleetwood Mac).

Has three children: William (b. 1998), Leelee (b. 2000), and Stella (b. 2004).

In January of 2019 he had a heart attack and underwent emergency open-heart surgery. His wife told reporters that he was recuperating from the surgery but that his vocal cords had been damaged.

Grandfather founded Keystone Coffee, his father founded Alta Coffee as well.
