Not even two months after its theatrical release, the latest film from Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh, Black Bag, will hit streaming. Black Bag, which stars two-time Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender, will drop on Peacock on May 2.

The spy thriller stars Blanchett as Kathryn St. Jean, the wife of Fassbender’s British intelligence officer George Woodhouse. In Black Bag, George is tasked with investigating a list of would-be traitors, one of whom may be his wife, Kathryn. The film also stars Pierce Brosnan (MobLand), Gustaf Skarsgård (Evil), Naomie Harris (Moonlight), Tom Burke (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), and Marisa Abela (Barbie). The movie was written by David Koepp, who has written movies like Jurassic Park (1993), Mission: Impossible (1996), and Spider-Man (2002).

The Film Will Get a Physical Media Release

Black Bag, despite its 96% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, failed to make back its budget, having earned just $37.7 million against its budget of around $50 million to $60 million.

It’s rare to see a movie like “Black Bag” (2025), where every moment feels vital. Not a scene, an acting decision, or a dialogue feels wasted in this spy thriller, which is inherently about the game of truth, lies, and deception.
