Pierce Brosnan has teased his return as crime boss Conrad Harrigan, with the actor offering a promising update on the fate of his and Tom Hardy’s hit Paramount+ crime drama series, MobLand. Despite there being no official confirmation from the studio and streamer yet, speaking with MovieWeb’s own George Edelman, Brosnan revealed that he believes “they will be going ahead with a second season.”

Taboo was a brilliant but underrated 2017 series by the great Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), with an incredible cast — co-creator Tom Hardy, Leo Bill, Jessie Buckley, Oona Chaplin, Mark Gatiss, Tom Hollander, Stephen Graham, and Jonathan Pryce. Knight said at the time of its release that he had plans for two more seasons, but then... nothing. News about the show trickled out of the industry pipeline over the years, with Knight saying in 2021 that six episodes were written, and producer Dean Baker confirming a second season in 2023. Despite having only premiered yesterday, the fate of Tom Hardy’s new gangster series, MobLand, has already been revealed. Starring Hardy alongside fellow A-listers Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, and helmed in part by director Guy Ritchie, MobLand finds Hardy starring as a “fixer” tasked with easing tensions between two warring crime families.

2010′s Skateland, a Sundance Dramatic Comp entry played well in Park City and it found tlc support but the coming-of-ager didn’t find it’s audience when released theatrically so we’re hoping that Anthony Burns’ North of Hell (a dramedy with a little more acting clout) retains some of the filmmaker’s atmospheric prowess.

Gist: Based on a story by Carlo Allen, Ted Elrick and Tom Lavagnino, and scripted by Anthony Burns, this is about a seductive and scheming new hire causes dangerous problems for a businessman who is married to a bi-polar, obsessive-compulsive woman.

Release Date: With Sundance out of the equation, we now think this could land at Tribeca or Tiff.

Katherine Heigl has been attacked and described as "difficult" in a new article.

In a profile for The Hollywood Reporter, the former Grey's Anatomy star was described as difficult and "not worth" working with.

One source who worked on Heigl's movie Life As We Know It suggested that the actress brought on "desperately difficult situations", whether it was insisting on casting approval, having "wardrobe issues", refusing to leave her trailer, or questioning the script.

Another insider who claimed to work on the film 27 Dresses suggested that Heigl had a "sense of entitlement" when it came to promoting the project, with "movie star demands".

Meanwhile, one person quoted in the article suggested that producers of a pilot had resisted casting Heigl despite the fact that she fit the role because "she's not worth it".

The story centers on Don Champagne (Patrick Wilson), a successful businessman who seems to be living the good life. What most don't know, however, is his domineering wife (Katherine Heigl) viciously controls every aspect of his well-being.

Anthony Burns is directing from his own screenplay, which is based on an original story by Carlo Allen, Ted Elrick, and Tom Lavagnino. Darko Entertainment's Sean McKittrick and Jeff Culotta are producing alongside Anthony Burns and Aj Bowen.

Production is scheduled to begin next month in Louisiana.

Deadline is reporting that Patrick Wilson and Katherine Heigl have signed on to star in the dark comedy North of Hell for Dark Entertainment. Hmm… Heigl as an overbearing, bitchy type? Seems like typecasting to me. I try to avoid anything she’s in like the plague. That being said, Wilson is a solid lead and I usually enjoy his flicks, so I may have to check this one out.

Skateland Review

If you have warm recollections about skating rinks and jelly bracelets, then 80s-era indie drama Skateland will probably be a nostalgic movie stroll. It premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and finally got a limited theatrical release last week. Skateland is a solid coming-of-age drama, though the unexceptional storyline and characters offer nothing new. Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding Hood) stars in Anthony Burns’ directorial debut as a young man who finds his world suddenly changing. Ritchie and his pals live in small-town Texas in the early 80s, where Ritchie manages the local hotspot skating rink, Skateland. Ritchie is stuck in a rut, and unable to make any big life decisions he’s content to coast along hanging with his female best bud Michelle (Ashley Greene) and partying at the lake with loaded friend Kenny (Taylor Handley).

Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:

The 3D horror thriller Priest directed by Scott Charles Stewart and starring Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Karl Urban, Lily Collins and Christopher Plummer is opening in almost 3000 theaters. Tell me about Skateland.

There’s films that come along in your career as scripts that you really want to be a part of. I remember reading this scripts and calling my agent and manager and saying that I’d so anything to be a part of it. When the offer came through, the dates couldn’t work out with CSI, but then Skateland changed things and CSI worked things out so I could go out there and do it.

Cultivating a longing for a time one didn't live through is nostalgia's version of unrequited love. The result is pure, unfiltered by memory, uncolored by disappointment, sustained by imagination and its very impossibility -- a bulletproof romantic play.
