A Release Date Has Finally Been Set for 'Sonic the Hedgehog 4'
Image
The day before Sonic the Hedgehog 3 opened in theaters, Paramount Pictures announced that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 would debut in 2027. At the time, no specific release date was given, but following the third entry's impressive box office run and now being available on digital, the studio is planting a flag for a release date. Despite Sonic the Hedgehog 3 having done very well over the Christmas and New Year holidays, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is racing into the spring season.

Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures has set Sonic the Hedgehog 4 for a Mar. 19, 2027 release date. This puts it one week before Easter weekend, which was a similar release schedule that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 did, by opening one week before Easter in 2022. While 2027 feels like a long wait for fans, it is shorter than the two-and-a-half-year gap between Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will speed into theaters for a March 2027 release
Image
I should probably stop being surprised that the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has become so successful, especially after the third film has pushed the series over the billion-dollar mark. Paramount is keen to keep the little blue speedster and his pals around a little longer, as they’ve officially slated Sonic the Hedgehog 4 for a March 19, 2027 release.

The post-credit scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 did give fans a hint as to where the franchise will go next, but the fourth installment is still in the early stages with no director or star attachments at the moment. Jeff Fowler helmed the first three movies, so it stands to reason that he’ll be back for Sonic 4, but you never know.

Jim Carrey, who plays Dr. Ivo Robotnik in the franchise, has even expressed a willingness to return for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 if they have a good reason to do it.

'Sonic the Hedgehog 3' is Heading to Digital Platforms on January 21
Image
After a month in theaters, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is racing into premium video-on-demand for families to watch at home. The third entry in the popular Sonic the Hedgehog franchise features the titular blue hedgehog, voiced by Ben Schwartz, going up against fan-favorite Shadow the Hedgehog, voiced by Keanu Reeves, and Jim Carrey, pulling double duty as both Ivan and Gerald Robotnik. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was one of the big films of the holiday season, and after a solid performance at the box office, it will soon be available to watch at home.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3's official X account revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be available to purchase digitally on Jan 21, 2025. The sequel will be arriving on digital platforms like Fandango, Prime Video, and Apple one month and a day after the movie opened in theaters on Dec. 20, 2024. No date has been announced for Sonic the Hedgehog 3...

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 In The Works For Early 2027 Release Date
Image
As audiences across the globe race to theaters to check out the Blue Blur's third adventure, Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a fourth installment, titled Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and have already slated it for an early 2027 release.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 features two post-credit sequences, both of which set up future stories, so this announcement was more of an inevitability than not, but it's certainly nice of the studio to make it official before the latest film's launch.

Early tracking buzz is projecting an opening in the $55 million to $60 million range for the Jeff Fowler-directed threequel, which likely means it will top the weekend box office, swiping the crown from Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King.

Critics have been much higher on Sonic 3 as well, with the film currently boasting a franchise-best 88% Certified Fresh certification on review aggregator RottenTomatoes (compared to 57% for Mufasa), so it could perform even...

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ Receives High Critics and Audience Ratings, Surpasses Previous Movies
Image
Remember how the live-action version of Sonic the Hedgehog had a rough start? The fans were horrified by the leaked design of the character, as Paramount initially opted for a more original design, which was panned by fans, so they decided to listen to them and simply keep the original design, and this turned out to be the best decision they made.

The first movie was a massive hit, and so was the sequel, so it was no surprise that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was quickly announced, as the movie is coming to theaters, we are happy to report that the franchise is seemingly improving with each new title.

Namely, the first critics and audience scores for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 are in, and we are extremely happy to confirm that it has been dubbed the best Sonic movie yet, surpassing the previous two titles in both the critics and audience score categories.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 races into development with plans for a Spring 2027 release
Image
For what is the most predictable news ever on this side of the Green Hill Zone, Paramount is developing Sonic the Hedgehog 4! Word about another film in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise races into news feeds as Sonic the Hedgehog 3 debuts in local theaters. Analysts expect the threequel to bank $50M to $60M in chili dog dollars during its debut and much more as the movie continues to run rings around the competition.

According to online chatter, an after-credits scene in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 hints about where Sonic the Hedgehog 4 could go. I’d look up the details, but I’m treating myself to a screening of Sonic 3 tonight and don’t want to get spoiled. Plus, the movie just came to theaters. Let’s leave a little to the imagination. My uneducated guess is that Paramount has heard my pleas for the next film to include Amy Rose,...

Sonic 3 Review: The Hedgehog (and Shadow) Fails to Live Up to the Hype
Image
The following contains spoilers for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, in theaters Dec. 20, 2024.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movies are all about propulsion. If they move fast enough from one plot point to the next, with enough quips to keep the story from dragging, then people -- children, at least -- won't have enough time to consider just how hollow an endeavor this franchise truly is. Sonic 3 barrels ahead without expounding upon the series' most burning questions. For reasonably cognizant adults, making heads or, ahem, Tails of the Sonic lore might be a fruitless endeavor, but this is a movie designed solely for adolescents raised with digital devices in their hands. For kids, Sonic 3 delivers; but just what exactly it delivers is anyone's guess.

It's hard to overstate what a cultural phenomenon Sonic the Hedgehog is. He means a lot to a lot of people, despite never offering much more than loop-de-loops and an innate cockiness.

Jim Carrey On Retiring From Acting: “You Can’t Be Definite About These Things”
Image
Jim Carrey is clearing up his comments about retiring from acting after he claimed he was stepping away from the limelight following Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Carrey reprises his role as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 only two years after he said he was retiring.

“You can’t be definite about these things. I said I’d like to retire but I think I was talking more about power resting,” Carrey told ComicBook. “Because as soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people you really enjoy working with, things tend to change.”

In 2022, when the Bruce Almighty star was promoting the sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog, he said he was retiring from acting.

“I’m being fairly serious,” he said in an interview to Access Hollywood at the time. “It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink,...

Jim Carrey On Returning For A ‘Mask’ Sequel: “It’s Not Really About The Money”
Image
Jim Carrey is open to reprising his role in a The Mask sequel but under one condition.

The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 star said in a recent interview that he would be down to revisit the character he played in the 1994 comedy.

“Oh gosh, you know, it has to be the right idea. If somebody had the right idea, I guess… It’s not really about the money,” Carrey told ComicBook. “I joke about the money… But I never know. You can’t be definite about these things.”

He continued, “I said I’d like to retire, but I think I was talking more about power-resting. Because as soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people that you really enjoyed working with and stuff, it just – things tend to change.”

In 2022, when the Bruce Almighty star was promoting the sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog, he said he was retiring from acting.

Jim Carrey wants to play the Grinch again, but doesn’t want to go through the “excruciating” makeup process
Image
Jim Carrey was absolutely covered in prosthetic makeup for How the Grinch Stole Christmas, but his famous rubber face couldn’t be contained, and the actor used the wonderful makeup to great effect. However, Carrey was not a fan of the makeup process, likening it to “being buried alive.” That said, it is a role he would love to return to, provided they could figure out an alternate makeup process.

Carrey recently spoke with ComicBook.com and was asked which character he would love to play again. “Oh, gosh, you know, if we could figure out the Grinch,” Carrey said. “The thing about it is, on the day, I do that with a ton of makeup and can hardly breathe. It was an extremely excruciating process. The children were in my mind all the time. ‘It’s for the kids. It’s for the kids. It’s for the kids.’ And now,...

Paramount Pictures Revives “Ugly Sonic” For ‘Sonic The Hedgehog 3’ Promo
Image
Paramount Pictures brought back the original Sonic character design for a special Sonic the Hedgehog 3 promotion.

In 2019, the studio released the first trailer for the big-screen adaptation of the classic Sega video game. Backlash on social media over the character showing so many teeth quickly took over, which forced Paramount to redesign the character.

Ahead of the premiere of Sonic 3 on December 20, the company revealed an “Ugly Sonic” Christmas sweater, part of a special giveaway to promote the new film. The ugly Christmas sweater is one of the prizes for the “12 Hours of Sonic” giveaway.

Following the backlash over Sonic in 2019, director Jeff Fowler took to social media to address the character would undergo a design.

“Thank you for the support. And the criticism,” he shared on Twitter, now known as X after Elon Musk’s takeover. “The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes.

Jim Carrey Wants To Reprise His ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ Role Under One Condition: “Anything Is Possible In This World”
Image
Jim Carrey has an idea of how he can reprise his role as The Grinch after starring in the 2000 film How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

In a new interview, Carrey says he would want to play the Dr. Seuss-created character again, but with one major change.

“Oh, gosh, you know, if we could figure out the Grinch,” Carrey told ComicBook when asked what character he would like to play again. “The thing about it is, on the day, I do that with a ton of makeup and can hardly breathe. It was an extremely excruciating process.”

He continued, “The children were in my mind all the time. ‘It’s for the kids. It’s for the kids. It’s for the kids.’ And now, with motion capture and things like that, I could be free to do other things. Anything is possible in this world.”

Jim Carrey said he was retiring, so why did he return for Sonic the Hedgehog 3? “I need the money”
Image
Two years ago, Jim Carrey said he was retiring unless “the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink,” but the actor returned for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Does this mean the Sonic sequel was that magical gold ink script? Not quite.

“That night’ve been hyperbole, yeah,” said Carrey when asked about his past comments on the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 red carpet. “I came back to this universe because I get to play a genius, which is a bit of a stretch. And you know, I bought a lot of stuff and I need the money, frankly.“

Carrey naturally reprised his role of Dr. Ivo Robotnik for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but he actually pulls double duty as Gerald Robotnik, Ivo’s grandfather and the creator of Shadow the Hedgehog. Director Jeff Fowler knew they wanted Carrey to play both roles, but he acknowledged...

Jim Carrey On Why He Returned For ‘Sonic 3’: “I Bought A Lot Of Stuff & I Need The Money, Frankly”
Image
Jim Carrey revealed why he returned for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to reprise his role as Doctor Robotnik.

During the film’s UK premiere in London, the Ace Ventura Pet Detective star joked about why he signed on to do the third installment of the film based on the Sega video game.

“I came back to this universe because, first of all, I get to play a genius, which is a bit of a stretch. And, you know, it’s just… I bought a lot of stuff and I need the money, frankly. Yeah,” Carrey told the Associated Press.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 first reactions praise the sequel as the best of the trilogy
Image
History has shown us that video game movies rarely work. Sure, there are a few notable exceptions, but I never expected Sonic the Hedgehog to be one of them. But here we are, with the first reactions to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 praising it as the best of the trilogy.

Collider’s Steven Weintraub said Sonic the Hedgehog 3 “is definitely the best one yet. The addition of Shadow (voiced by Keanu Reeves) adds a great antagonist that isn’t empty calories. But the reason to see the Sonic movies is Jim Carrey. He’s such a brilliant performer and he never gives less than his everything. Was a lot of fun watching him play off himself. He plays two roles in the sequel.“

ComicBook.com’s Chris Killian added, “It’s not often that each movie gets better in a trilogy, but #SonicMovie3 is the best of the bunch. There...

Jim Carrey Dances With Jim Carrey As Robotnik & His Father In New Sonic 3 Video
Image
A new video for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 shows Jim Carrey dancing with himself as his two Sonic universe characters. Carrey is known for playing the live-action character Ivo Robotnik in the Sonic franchise films. This Sega adaptation series will soon continue with the December 20 release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which will reunite Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails while also introducing the character of Shadow to this Sonic trilogy. In addition to Carrey, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 features a leading cast including Ben Schwartz, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, Tika Sumpter, Tom Butler, Alyla Browne, and James Marsden.

A new music video from Jelly Roll shows a look at Dr. Robotnik and other key Sonic the Hedgehog 3 characters.

Lee Majdoub gives Jim Carrey a haircut as part of Dr. Robotnik’s quest to get his groove back in a new Sonic the Hedgehog 3 promo
Image
Lee Majdoub, who plays Agent Stone in Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise, gives Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik a makeover in the latest promo for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and the egg-headed villain has never looked better. The glow-up is part of the villain’s sinister plan to look spiffy when he confronts the Blue Blur, Sonic, in the duo’s third altercation since Paramount launched the Sonic film series in 2020.

In the latest Sonic the Hedgehog 3 promo, Jim Carrey says he’s been growing his hair for a year and a half before trusting Majdoub to buzz his head clean to restore Dr. Robotnik’s signature look. The two actors look to be having a lot of fun during Carrey’s makeover, being careful not to nick the maniacal villain’s unwieldy mustache in the process. As Majdoub runs the buzzing blades across Carrey’s dome,...

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 releases a new poster as tickets go on sale next week
Image
Fans of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, both games and movies, are excited to see the next chapter of the film series, which brings in one of the games most popular characters, Shadow. Keanu Reeves joins the franchise as the voice of Shadow and wanted to remain faithful in his interpretation as director Jeff Fowler explained, “He really wanted to create a very fan-faithful version of the character. He did research.“ The anticipation grows as Paramount now releases a new poster of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and announces that tickets will go on sale on November 25. The movie races into theaters on December 20.

The official synopsis reads,

“Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the big screen this holiday season in his most thrilling adventure yet. Sonic The Hedgehog 3's Runtime Is More Concerning For Shadow's Introduction
Image
The highly anticipated franchise film, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, recently revealed its runtime, and many are concerned that there won't be enough time to properly delve into the movie's most exciting cast addition. Set to be released on December 20, 2024, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will see the return of the iconic blue hedgehog, alongside his friends Tails and Knuckles, as they take on a mysterious new enemy named Shadow. Although the movie has plenty of exciting elements to offer audiences, the movie's 109-minute runtime feels a bit short for what viewers are hoping to see.

One of the biggest changes coming to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the appearance of Shadow. Like Tails and Knuckles before him, Shadow is an integral character in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and arguably, audiences have been waiting to see him since the very first movie's release in 2020. In this way, casting Shadow as the...

Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Director Confirms New Characters Will Be Teased For Potential Sequel
Image
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director Jeff Fowler hints at what teases will be given in the upcoming movie. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is the sequel to 2022's Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which continues to tell a story about the classic Sega character. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 features a leading cast including Ben Schwartz, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, Tika Sumpter, Tom Butler, Alyla Brown, James Marsden, and Jim Carrey. It is set for release just before Christmas, coming out on December 20.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Fowler discusses what potential teases will be at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director says Keanu Reeves wanted to create a “very fan-faithful version” of Shadow

I continue to be surprised at just how well the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has done. Sure, the series didn’t get off to the best start with the Sonic who emerged from the depths of hell, but the production was able to turn things around and deliver two very successful films (plus a Knuckles TV series) with a third on the way. Speaking of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the upcoming sequel will bring Shadow into the series, and he’ll be voiced by none other than Keanu Reeves.

During a Q&a for Sonic Revolution’s Shadow Revolution stream, director Jeff Fowler had nothing but praise for Reeves’ work on the film, adding that he did his homework and came very prepared. “It’s so awesome that we got Keanu Reeves to voice the character and he was so fantastic to work with,” he said. “He thinks the character...

Tyra Banks reveals her idea for Life-Size 3. Life-Size was originally a 2000 TV movie featuring Lindsay Lohan as a young girl named Casey Stuart who, in the wake of her mother's death, casts a spell to bring her back to life but accidentally brings her doll to life. Banks starred as the resurrected doll opposite Lohan's Casey, with a supporting cast that includes Jere Burns, Anne Marie DeLuise, Garwin Sanford, Tom Butler, and Jillian Fargey. Almost two decades after the original was released, Life-Size 2 was made in 2018, wherein Banks reprised her role.

When asked about the possibility of another Life-Size movie, Banks mentioned that she "feel[s] like [they] should do one." Banks even had a specific idea for what Life-Size 3 could be, posing "what if she [Lindsay Lohan] was a doll?" This would involve Casey being "magically turned into a doll" in some way.

Idris Elba reacts to Keanu Reeves’s Sonic 3 casting, saying their collaboration is destiny in the making
Image
Paramount Pictures is going full steam with its Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise by attaching some of Hollywood’s hottest stars to voice iconic characters from the expanding Sega series. It broke the internet when Idris Elba said he was voicing Knuckles the Echidna for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I could hear the rapturous screams from my office in Canada as fans of the Blue Blur rejoiced. Now, Paramount is rekindling the fire by bringing Keanu Reeves into the fold as Shadow the Hedgehog for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Speaking about Reeves joining the cast, Idris Elba believes it was his destiny to work alongside the John Wick actor, and he couldn’t be happier about his good fortune.

“I’m a big fan of his,” Elba said about Keanu Reeves in an interview with IGN. “I’ve heard that he’s a fan of mine, and we are destined to make something together.

‘Sonic 3’ Finally Confirms Main Cast Members with a Few Exciting Surprises!
The first movie was a massive hit, and so was the sequel, so it was no surprise that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was quickly announced, and we can confirm that the movie is set for a December 20, 2024 theatrical release.

And while we’ve had several updates related to the movie, including Jim Carrey’s confirmed return as Dr. Robotnik, today is a big day as the main voice cast of the movie has finally been confirmed, all of that amidst flooding rumors that Keanu Reeves will be voicing Shadow,...

Keanu Reeves' Sonic 3 Casting Was Predicted Years Ago by Viral Video
Image
It has been revealed that Keanu Reeves will voice a popular franchise character in the upcoming sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 3. A sneak peek at how that might turn out is revealed in a video that's going viral on social media --- more than two years after it was first posted.

Shared on X by @SonicpoX, the video features animations of Shadow the Hedgehog from the Sonic games, but with Keanu Reeves' voice dubbed in. The post, dated April 7, 2022, additionally asked, "What if 'Keanu Reeves' voiced Shadow the Hedgehog?" This post has resurfaced and is again going viral, with one new comment reading, "Yeah that'd be crazy," while another asked of predicting the future, "How tell me how you did it."

Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Keanu Reeves will voice Shadow
Image
We’ve known that Shadow the Hedgehog would be appearing in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for some time but didn’t know who would be voicing the character… until now. First reported by John Campea and confirmed by THR, Shadow the Hedgehog will be voiced by none other than Keanu Reeves.

The audience at CinemaCon got a glimpse of Shadow during Paramount’s panel, during which a first-look trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was screened. The character first appeared in Sonic Adventure 2 as a dark version of Sonic who does whatever it takes to achieve his goals. The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has included some unexpected voice actors, such as Idris Elba as Knuckles, so it should be fun to see what Keanu Reeves does with Shadow.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Confirms Jim Carrey's Return as Dr. Robotnik
Image
Jim Carrey is set to reprise his villainous role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The news comes shortly after the teaser trailer was shown at CinemaCon.

After much speculation about whether iconic actor Jim Carrey would return for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, his role as Dr. Robotnik has been officially confirmed. At CinemaCon, which was attended by Cbr, Carrey was not in attendance, but the actor was very visible in the latest installment's teaser trailer that was screened at the event. Appearing on the screen, Carrey's Eggman is seen in a much more plump state than before, joking about binging on carbohydrates.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director celebrates wrapping the sequel’s production with a new image
Image
After racing toward the finish line at top speed, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 director Jeff Fowler is wrapping up production on the Blue Blur’s latest adventure! Fowler announced the film’s production wrap via Twitter/X with a new photo from the set. In the image, Fowler holds a giant clapper with drawings of the threequel’s primary animated cast, including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. The latest addition to the cast, Shadow, takes the spotlight on the clapper, while Tails and Knuckles give the anti-hero the stink eye. Meanwhile, Sonic appears unbothered by Shadow’s presence, shrugging off the new player’s prominence. If you look past the clapper, you’ll find Fowler wearing a shirt saying “Keep Calm and Jim Carrey On,” a nod to the comedic actor’s franchise return as Dr. Robotnik.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3: James Marsden says the sequel has wrapped filming, but is he also teasing a Deadpool 3 cameo?
Image
I honestly never expected that a Sonic the Hedgehog cinematic universe would be a thing, but here we are. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 kicked off production last year, and James Marsden recently spoke with The Playlist and confirmed that filming has just wrapped.

“Yeah, we just wrapped, actually!” Marsden said. “I feel really proud of what we created, and the response from the fans, we just had to get the animation right on that first movie, but great family, all positive. Jim’s just having a ball, he’s in his inspiration zone… So it’s a joy to watch him have a good time, like really enjoying it again. It’s great, very lucky to be a part of it, and I think fans are gonna be excited about all the new characters.“

Marsden also happened to mention that the production was near the same stages where Deadpool & Wolverine was shooting,...

Freddy vs. Jason (2003) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Robert Englund and Ken Kirzinger in Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
A new episode of the Real Slashers video series has just been released, and with this one we’re looking back at a movie that gave us two iconic slashers for the price of one: the 2003 monster mash Freddy vs. Jason (watch it Here)! Somehow it’s been over twenty years since that long-awaited match-up reached theatres screens, and you can hear all about what happened when Freddy Krueger crossed paths with Jason Voorhees in the video embedded above.

Directed by Ronny Yu (who previously worked with another iconic slasher on Bride of Chucky) from a screenplay by Damian Shannon and Mark J. Swift (with an uncredited polish by David S. Goyer), Freddy vs. Jason has the following synopsis: Get ready for the ultimate showdown! It’s been nearly ten years since Freddy, from the Nightmare on Elm Street series, invaded people’s dreams to exact his deadly form of revenge and murder.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Reviews & Reactions Continue to Be Decidedly Mixed
Image
Legacy sequel Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has now premiered in LA, and further reviews and reactions for the follow-up have now come flooding in. And they range from dazzling praise to a major misfire. Since debuting at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, the response to Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has been decidedly mixed, so let’s wade into these latest reactions to Harrison Ford’s last ride...

We begin with MovieWeb’s own David Reddish, who heaps praise on Harrison Ford’s return saying, “There’s only one Harrison Ford, and there’s only one Indiana Jones. Dial of Destiny knows as much, and treats both star and character with proper respect,” and calls Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny “a terrific send-off.”

“Here, one last time, is a great Indiana Jones adventure, a movie true to the legacy of the series, and...

How Kate Mara and Famous Pals Inspired a Filmmaker to Finish His Documentary About a Battle Against Big Pork
Image
Two years ago, Kate Mara watched a rough cut of “The Smell of Money” – a documentary about Elsie Herring’s decades-long fight to stop a multibillion-dollar corporate hog farm from spraying animal waste on her family’s land in North Carolina – and signed on to become an executive producer alongside David Lowery. Directed by Shawn Bannon, “The Smell of Money” examines not only how and why hog waste is killing innocent people, but also environmental racism, corporate malfeasance and global warming. The docu follows Herring and other residents as they wade through a nine-year legal battle against Smithfield Foods, whose facilities process tens of thousands of pigs per day, making the company the largest producer of pork in North America.

After debuting at the Sarasota Film Festival in March, the doc is making its international premiere at Canada’s Hot Docs film festival on April 30. Mara and Bannon spoke to...

Box Office: ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ Rings in 67 Million-Plus Projected Opening, ‘Ambulance’ Stalling
Image
As the box office opens two films featuring high-octane speedsters this weekend, one has emerged a clear victor. Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” looks to top the charts this weekend with an impressive opening between 67 million to 69 million, while Universal’s R-rated actioner “Ambulance” will likely fail to clear double digits.

“Sonic” unleashed on the box office on Thursday to the tune of 6.3 million in previews and has only gained steam since, playing in 4,234 locations. The Sega sequel is outperforming its 2020 predecessor, which opened to 58 million at a time when Covid-19 was still a nebulous threat to most North Americans. That “Sonic 2” is opening even stronger isn’t only good news for Paramount’s hunt for sustainable IP, but it also shows that family audiences are largely ready to return to movie theaters for the right movie.

‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Blu-ray Review

Stars: Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Lee Majdoub, Neal McDonough, Tom Butler, Frank C. Turner | Written by Patrick Casey, Josh Miller | Directed by Jeff Fowler

Things didn’t exactly get off to a flying start with the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. When the initial trailer was released, fans were not happy at all with how Sega’s lead mascot looked. Especially his ‘human-like’ teeth it seemed. Personally, I wasn’t that bothered but the filmmakers were it seems, as Sonic got a quick makeover in time for its release and everyone was happy. But with all that going on, is the movie actually any good?

Fans of the games will definitely be pleased. Right from the opening scenes we see where Sonic grew up and we see him run. Most importantly, both of these things feel like they have been ripped straight out of the video game.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, some lucky people in the U.K. were able to watch around 25 minutes of footage from Infinity War and all of the early reactions have been extremely positive. The miniature reviews of the movie do it a great service, but they don't give much away, except for one key note.

Joe.Ie out of Ireland released their review of the Infinity War footage and proclaimed it to be funny, epic, and noted that the villains look "spectacular." The review also goes on to say that fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are, "in for a treat." Zoo Review: Season 2 Is Unabashedly Crazy Like a (Feral, CGI'd) Fox
Billy Burke, Kristen Connolly, Alyssa Diaz, Nonso Anozie, James Wolk, and Gracie Dzienny in Zoo (2015)
If Tuesday’s two-hour premiere was any indication, CBS’ Zoo is going all in with Season 2.

Whereas Season 1 of the James Patterson adaptation took things a bit seriously as it explored the mystery of a manmade genetic mutation within the entire animal kingdom that turned our fine feathered and furry friends against us, Season 2 — or at least the effects-laden premiere, which for all I know blew the entire budget — is going full-tilt bananas (no pun intended, monkeys). We’ve got multi-animal assaults, a luxury jet that would make S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Zephyr jealous, new characters and...

Star Wars, sad Affleck and the gathering pace of pop culture
facebook

google+

Are we too quick to consume movies and TV before moving onto the next big thing? Ryan looks at the gathering pace of pop culture...

On the 26th March, Yahoo UK’s Tom Butler sat down with Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill for a brief filmed interview about Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Both Hollywood stars wore jumpers. Cavill looked relaxed and chipper. Affleck, on the other hand, wore the heavy-lidded look of someone suffering from jet lag.

It was that wan expression, as the pair were asked about the grim critical reaction to Batman V Superman, which saw the clip shared all over the world. As Cavill responded to the question (“What really matters is what the audience thinks...”), Affleck looked at the floor, unblinking. He appeared to nod gently as Cavill spoke eagerly, although it’s equally possible that he was just comforting himself by rocking backwards and forwards.

Ben Affleck seemingly has existential crisis when asked about 'BvS' criticism
Ben Affleck
Batman v Superman is getting pummeled by movie critics. NPR, as just one example among so many, called the superhero blockbuster “a ponderous, smothering, over-pixelated zeppelin crash of a movie.” It appears that all the criticism is getting to Batman himself, Ben Affleck. In an interview with Tom Butler from Yahoo Movies, Affleck and his co-star Henry Cavill were asked about the negative reviews (or as Butler politely calls it, “a mixed response.”) That’s when someone from the YouTube channel Sabconth decided to have some fun at the Dark Knight’s expense. As you’ll see in the video below, Affleck seemingly zones out as Cavill answers the question. He ultimately rejoins the interview just long enough to offer a terse response. And it’s all accompanied by the most appropriate of Simon & Garfunkel songs. Here’s the video…...

Comedian Tone Bell Joins The Cast Of The Flash Season 2
It’s not safe being a journalist in Central City. In fact, it may be even more perilous than being a politician in Star City. Regardless, season two of The Flash has now cast comedian Tone Bell for a multi-episode arc when The CW series returns in 2016. He won’t be a character from the comic books though; instead, he’s taking on the role of Iris West’s boss.

Bell is playing Scott Evans, the brash new editor at Central City Picture News. Devoted to hard journalism, Evans will push Iris (Candice Patton) and all his reporters to dig deeper into their stories and report the truth about what’s really happening in Central City. His predecessor at the paper, Eric Larkin (Tom Butler), was recently killed in a confrontation with Earth-2 villain Dr. Light (Malese Jow).

The comedian currently stars in NBC’s Truth Be Told, a series...
