There's a Reason Mary Cooper Looks So Similar in 'Tbbt' and 'Young Sheldon'
Image
Since its spectacular debut in 2007, the fan-favorite sitcom The Big Bang Theory continues to attract and entertain audiences all around the globe, with the juggernaut hit going on to become one of the most popular TV shows of all time and launching a lucrative and enduring franchise. Tbbt ran for 12 dazzling seasons and was the recipient of numerous accolades, like 10 Primetime Emmys, with its massive success leading to the development of two knockout spin-offs: Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

The coming-of-age series Young Sheldon serves as a prequel to Tbbt and chronicles the genius Sheldon Cooper's upbringing in the small Texas town of Medford during the late '80s and '90s. Zoe Perry memorably starred as Sheldon's devoted mother Mary for seven seasons, taking over the role from film and TV great Laurie Metcalf, who sporadically appeared as the character throughout the course of Tbbt.

“Die Jason! Die!”: Six Badass Horror Movie Fans Like Tommy Jarvis [Friday the 13th Week]
Image
Presented by Paramount Scares, Friday the 13th Week sees Bloody Disgusting heading to Camp Crystal Lake for a series of features that celebrate the Voorhees family and their influence. Yesterday, Rachel Reeves highlighted other camp-adjacent scares. Today, Luiz H.C. takes inventory of all the horror movie fans in horror similar to franchise hero Tommy Jarvis.

Writers may come up with nightmares and directors bring them to life, but everyone knows that it’s the horror fans that really keep the genre going. That’s why it’s always refreshing to see scary movies show some appreciation towards the community, like that time Jason Voorhees was (rather brutally) defeated by a young monster movie enthusiast played by Corey Feldman, aka Tommy Jarvis.

In light of the 40th anniversary for both Jarvis and Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter, we’ve come up with a list celebrating six other badass horror fans in horror movies.

10 Best 2000s Sitcoms (That Everyone Forgot About)
Image
Situational comedies, or sitcoms, are some of the most popular TV shows out there. As much as people may love their medical dramas and police procedurals, there is something to be said for a show that can make an audience laugh consistently. There are tons of famous sitcoms out there. Some of the earliest, like Beverly Hillbillies or Gilligan's Island helped pioneer and sanctify television for the world. Other, more modern examples like The Office and Abbott Elementary have become cultural phenomena. Sitcoms take a variety of forms, but their primary goal is always to entertain through comedic means.

The platonic ideal of a sitcom is a classic two-camera show, often filmed on a sound stage and supplemented with a laugh track. These shows are quick and cheap to produce and can attract huge levels of viewership. However, the genre's definition is pretty loose. It just refers to any situation where comedy may arise.

Easy A Cast & Character Guide
Image
Academy Award winner Emma Stone stars as Olive Penderghast in Easy A. Easy A marks Amanda Bynes' final film role. Other Easy A cast members include Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson, Lisa Kudrow, and more.

Easy A is one of the quintessential rom-coms of the 2010s, partly due to its all-star cast, which includes a two-time Academy Award-winning actress and a handful of Emmy Award-winning performers. The 2010 teen romantic comedy, directed by Will Gluck and written by Bert V. Royal, is partially inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne's renowned 1850 novel The Scarlet Letter as it depicts a teenager, played by Emma Stone, who becomes known as the school's resident tramp. Similar to Hester in The Scarlet Letter, Easy A's protagonist dons a scarlet "A" on her clothing to embrace her perceived identity.

Emma Stone was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her...

Young Sheldon Set Image Reveals New Look At Pastor Rob After His Season 7 Absence
Image
Dan Byrd hangs out with the Medford High School crew as Pastor Rob in new Young Sheldon set images. Pastor Rob's absence in Young Sheldon season 7 was for the better, allowing the Coopers' narrative to take center stage. Young Sheldon season 7 focused on repairing George and Mary's marriage, making Pastor Rob's absence crucial for the storyline.

After his absence in Young Sheldon season 7, a brand-new set photo reveals a fresh look at Dan Byrd as Youth Pastor Rob. Introduced in Young Sheldon season 5, episode 2, "Snoopin' Around and the Wonder Twins of Atheism," Pastor Rob's arrival in Medford didn't seem big at first. Eventually, however, it became clear that his presence was going to be a threat to the Coopers, as he developed a borderline inappropriate relationship with Mary. Despite this, Pastor Rob was never to be seen again beyond season 6 and didn't even return for George's funeral in the Young Sheldon finale.

Young Sheldon: Big Bang Theory Already Explained Marys Possible Affair
Image
Young Sheldon explores a potential affair between Mary and Pastor Rob, adding drama and depth to her character in contrast to her devout image. Young Sheldon retcons a crucial narrative, casting George Sr. as a faithful husband, diverging from The Big Bang Theory's hinted infidelities. The shift in narrative impacts audience, with some feeling relief at the change, while others see it as diluting character depth and dramatic impact.

Mary's (Zoe Perry) potential cheating scandal with Pastor Rob (Dan Byrd) in Young Sheldon was explained in The Big Bang Theory. While The Big Bang Theory might have hinted at Sheldon's Father's infidelities, Mary Cooper's (Zoe Perry) storyline captured attention in the prequel. Initially, viewers anticipated that George Sr. would be the one to stray; however, Young Sheldon has instead subtly pivoted to explore a potential affair involving Mary with Youth Pastor Rob (Dan Byrd).

The Hills Have Eyes (2006) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Wes Craven at an event for Scream 4 (2011)
Earlier today, we took a look back the Wes Craven-directed 2005 thriller Red Eye… so we figured, why not follow that up by taking a look at a remake of a Craven horror film that was released the year after Red Eye reached theatres? The movie we’re taking about is the 2006 version of The Hills Have Eyes (watch it Here), a remake of Craven’s 1977 classic. It’s time for this one to be revisited, and you can hear all about it in the embed above.

While the original film was written and directed by Craven, Alexandre Aja directed the remake from a screenplay he wrote with Grégory Levasseur. Here’s the synopsis: Bob Carter and his wife Ethel, along with five other members of the family, are heading for San Diego with their camper van. An accident strands them in the desert and while two of the men go for help,...

15 Best Young Sheldon Episodes
Image
It’s almost time for a second emotional goodbye to one of comedy’s best characters: Sheldon Cooper.

Fans fell in love with the character of Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, which ran for 12 years and starred Jim Parsons. In the spinoff prequel Young Sheldon, Parsons passed down the torch to Iain Armitage. However, Parsons still narrates the series as adult Sheldon and executive produces.

Young Sheldon allows audiences to travel back to Sheldon’s childhood in East Texas, truly giving us the opportunity to meet his family in a way that we hadn’t with their appearances on The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon wouldn’t be who he is without Mary (Zoe Perry), George Sr. (Lance Barber), Missy (Raegan Revord), Georgie (Montana Jordan), and his Meemaw (Annie Potts).

Let’s be honest, the show is just as fun as The Big Bang Theory was, albeit in a different...

Young Sheldon Season 7 Hints At An Unexpected Character Return
Image
Young Sheldon season 7 recap video hints at the return of Pastor Rob, adding drama to the final season. The inclusion of Pastor Rob suggests that his storyline with Mary needs a proper resolution in the show. While there are many arcs to explore, it's disappointing that Young Sheldon will end after season 7.

A brand new Young Sheldon season 7 hype video hints at the return of a divisive character. Sheldon and the rest of his family are just a month away from returning to the small screen for the final time, and their upcoming comeback is expected to be met with nervous anticipation. Aside from having to transition Sheldon from Texas to his eventual life in California, as seen in The Big Bang Theory, the shortened Young Sheldon season 7 also needs to tackle all the other lingering plot lines that involve the Coopers.

Young Sheldon season 6 was a milestone year for the CBS comedy.

How Old Hilary Duff Was In A Cinderella Story
Image
Hilary Duff was only 15 years old when she filmed the iconic rom-com A Cinderella Story, despite her character being 17 years old and a high school junior. The follow-up movies in the A Cinderella Story series did not feature Hilary Duff, opting instead for standalone projects with different actors in the Cinderella role. While there are now a total of six films in the A Cinderella Story series, the original film remains the most successful and beloved among fans.

One of the quintessential 2000s romantic comedies is A Cinderella Story, starring Hilary Duff, one of the quintessential teen stars in the early aughts. Duff rose to fame when she landed the role of the titular character in the Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire, which aired from 2001 to 2004. Following the conclusion of the television show, Duff focused on movies, starting with the Warner Bros. Pictures film, which is a modern-day adaptation of the classic Cinderella fairytale.

Pastor Rob Steals George’s Thunder In New Young Sheldon Season 6 Clip
Image
Pastor Rob steals George's thunder in new Young Sheldon season 6 clip after Mary's co-worker re-emerges at Medford High School to help with its football team. Dan Byrd's character was introduced on Young Sheldon season 5 as the Youth Pastor at Mary's church. There was an initial conflict between him and the Cooper matriarch, but they eventually develop a friendship. Mary, however, couldn't help herself but become attracted to her younger co-worker, a crush that only grew as the year progressed. Since Mary was fired by Pastor Jeff, however, the pair haven't spent that much time with each other. It doesn't seem like they will reunite anytime soon, which arguably factored in Mary and George being able to somehow fix their marriage.

It's uncertain if Mary is still infatuated with Pastor Rob, but CBS is bringing back the character to ring in the new year with the episode "College Dropouts and the Medford Miracle.

Young Sheldon Reveals Origin Story Behind Use of This Word on Big Bang

It’s the Sheldon Cooper origin story we didn’t know we needed — and one we certainly never expected to receive.

During Young Sheldon Season 5, Episode 6, “Money Laundering and a Cascade of Hormones,” Adult Sheldon (voiced by Jim Parsons) revealed why he’s always referred to sex as “coitus” on The Big Bang Theory. It all started when twin sister Missy began asking some “uncomfortable questions” at church, which prompted youth pastor Rob (played by recurring guest star Dan Byrd) to suggest to Mary and Pastor Jeff that they talk to the Sunday School kids about the birds and the bees.

Easy A Might Get a Sequel, But Will Emma Stone Return?
Image
A sequel to the 2010 teen comedy hit Easy A starring Emma Stone is reportedly in the works, with star Aly Michalka, who featured in the original movie, revealing several details of the potential project. Michalka, who played Stone's character's best friend in Easy A, even suggests that characters from the first movie would return. Does this mean we could see Emma Stone reprise one of her breakout roles?

"There are talks that there might be a sequel. That actually is semi real...It would be kind of like a new retelling but you'd see some of the characters from the original come back into the story."

While it does not sound like Easy A 2 is necessarily set in stone, this update from Michalka does line up with previous suggestions of a sequel. Back in 2019, Bert V. Royal, the screenwriter behind the original movie, had been tapped to write and direct a spin-off.

Seth MacFarlane to Reboot ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ With the Lucas Brothers (Exclusive)

Seth MacFarlane is reviving the age old rivalry between jocks and nerds. The comedic actor is developing a reboot of the seminal ’80s comedy “Revenge of the Nerds” at 20th Century Studios.

MacFarlane will produce the reboot through his production company Fuzzy Door, along with Erica Huggins, who brought the project to the Lucas brothers and is spearheading development.

The upcoming version won’t be a remake of the 1984 comedy, which hasn’t aged all that well and has been criticized in recent years for depictions of rape. Instead, the contemporary reimagining will pontificate about today’s nerd culture and what even constitutes a geek in the 21st century.

Together, Becky (Ashleigh Lathrop), Ian (Dan Byrd), Samantha (Jessica Rothe), Wilson Wilson (Desmin Borges) and Grant (Javon “Wanna” Walton) unearthed hidden meanings cloaked within the pages of the comic, predicting threats to humanity. They realized these are not just the makings of a conspiracy; they are very real dangers coming alive right now in their world.

The group embarked on a high-stakes adventure,...

In the previously-unseen clip, Becky (Ashleigh Lathrop) goes to meet with a man who didn’t appear in Season 1. It turns out this is the collector who sent the winning bidder to the fan convention to get “Utopia” for him.

Now, this guy still wants the comic book he paid for and he wants it now, and he’s willing to trade Becky medication to treat her Diels in return for betraying Jessica Hyde (Sasha Banks), Wilson Wilson (Desmin Borges), Ian (Dan Byrd), Alice (Farrah Mackenzie), Grant (Javon Walton) and really the entire world.

‘Utopia’ Creator Gillian Flynn on Why She Killed Off That Character So Soon
Dan Byrd, Jessica Rothe, Desmin Borges, Farrah Mackenzie, Ashleigh LaThrop, Sasha Lane, and Javon 'Wanna' Walton in Utopia (2020)
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Episode 2 of “Utopia.”)

Despite the fact Jessica Rothe was heavily promoted as one of the leading ladies of Gillian Flynn’s “Utopia,” her character, Samantha, was shot and killed by Jessica Hyde (Sasha Lane) at the end of Episode 2, leaving behind Becky (Ashleigh Lathrop), Wilson Wilson (Desmin Borges) and Ian (Dan Byrd) to follow the crazed woman who just murdered their friend.

So why did Flynn kill off Sam, the girl who knows the most about the “Utopia” comic book conspiracy, the leader of the pack, and an all-around good person who was just trying to help?

Well, for starters, Sam was born just to die.

“I will say that Sam is a character that I created, she wasn’t in the original [British series ‘Utopia,’ which was created by Dennis Kelly] and she was created largely to die, despite the actress, Jessica Rothe, being so,...

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for “Utopia” Season 1 through the finale.)

The Season 1 finale of Gillian Flynn’s “Utopia” gave fans many questions to ponder while we await a Season 2 renewal from Amazon, including what the heck is Wilson Wilson (Desmin Borges) doing in a car with freakin’ Kevin Christie (John Cusack) and why did he trick Becky (Ashleigh Lathrop) into joining them?

“I see it as a betrayal, for sure,” Lathrop told TheWrap. “Wilson and Becky have a really interesting relationship and, unfortunately, some scenes got cut. There was a whole other side storyline for one of the things, but one of the biggest things between the two of them is that they kind of are friends — but also have a contentious relationship. Like, Wilson doesn’t trust Becky and thinks that she’s [part of Christie’s team] Harvest and has all these suspicions about her. So I think when Becky gets in...

By the end of the first season of Gillian Flynn’s “Utopia” the crew that has been trying to solve the conspiracy at the center of a comic book in order to save humanity from a virus gets separated into factions that will surely lead to some serious complications in a potential second season of the Amazon series.

Christie (John Cusack) has Becky (Ashleigh Lathrop) and Wilson Wilson (Desmin Borges) in his grasp, after Wilson Wilson seemingly came over to his side and tricked Becky into coming too. Grant (Javon Walton) has been arrested by the police. Jessica Hyde (Sasha Lane) finally made it Home, which turns out to have been a really bad idea, as she’s seriously sick with we don’t know what, and the hostage of Agent Milner (Sonja Sohn), a woman she believed to...

Dan Byrd, Jessica Rothe, Desmin Borges, Farrah Mackenzie, Ashleigh LaThrop, Sasha Lane, and Javon 'Wanna' Walton in Utopia (2020)
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of “Utopia.”)

Gillian Flynn’s “Utopia” launched Friday, introducing us to Dr. Michael Stearns (Rainn Wilson) and Dr. Kevin Christie (John Cusack), two men who could not have more different approaches to living their lives in this crowded world, as Christie believes “how much evil do you have to do to do good?” is a valid question to ask and Stearns’ answer is a hard “none evil.”

By the end of the first season of the Amazon Prime Video thriller series, we learn that Christie, a.k.a. Mr. Rabbit, has been pulling the strings of Stearns’ life for years, using him and the flu he discovered (the Stearns Flu) as an excuse to create a “vaccine” that is embedded with a “world-changing” omnivirus that will sterilize all of the humans who are given it. This is Christie’s “cure” for overpopulation.

A strange virus is causing fatalities throughout Middle America. A group of folks who’ve been chatting online for some time think there’s some bigger, deep-state conspiracy behind it all; they’ve found a series of documents that they believe possess clues as to the nefarious forces behind not just this pandemic, but a host of other so-called “natural disasters” and catastrophes. Meanwhile, protesters are storming the streets and demanding answers, while a rich, morally suspect authority figure — and his equally dubious adult son — promise a miracle vaccine any minute now.
