Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)
Spider-Man: Brand New Day villains reportedly confirmed; new suit showcased
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026)
He's done whatever a spider can countless times before, and he's ready to do it once again. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be Peter Parker's next adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (provided that he doesn't show up in Avengers: Doomsday first), and anticipation couldn't be any higher.

After the wall-crawler teamed up with multiversal variants of himself to stop the "Sinister Five", everyone is eager to learn what type of movie we're getting next. Will we witness yet another multiversal tale (as it had been heavily reported)? Or will the character go back to its roots and be the star of a street-level story? Fortunately, we might finally have an answer, and it came in the most unexpected way possible.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was seemingly discussed during the Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation. The villains of the movie were reportedly revealed, and they are ideal candidates for a grounded narrative.

Before Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man premiered on Disney+, there were rumblings that Vincent D'Onofrio would lend his voice to an animated version of the Kingpin of Crime, Wilson Fisk.

During a recent Q&a, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man showrunner Jeff Trammell discussed adding the Man Without Fear to the show and addressed the Kingpin rumours head-on.

"[Charlie Cox] has been awesome to work with," he started. "I did not know that we would get the opportunity to have him in the show. Very early on, I was like, 'Can we use Daredevil?' And they were like, 'Yes.' I was like, 'Can I use Charlie?...

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man EP Reveals When Future Seasons Will 'Hopefully' Be Released
Image
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will live up to its genial title. Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum confirmed plans to release yearly seasons of the well-received wall-crawler animated series, starting with a sophomore installment.

Ahead of the Daredevil: Born Again premiere event, Winderbaum commented, per Collider:

"We will have a Spider-Man season every year if I have anything to say about it," Winderbaum told Collider ahead of Daredevil: Born Again premiere. "What usually happens, as you know, in animation, is that there's a bigger gap between Season 1 and Season 2 than in subsequent seasons, and that'll be similar in Friendly. We will have to wait a little bit more than a year for Season 2, but then after that, it should come out on an annual cadence, hopefully."

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man Producer Reveals When Season 2 Releases And Promises Yearly Drops
Image
Marvel Studios has come to terms with the fact its current approach to television isn't working and now plans to release multi-season shows yearly. So, hopefully no more one-off series meant to tee up movies or waits of upwards of 18 months - 2 years before a new season drops.

That plan seemingly extends to animation as Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel Studios, has shared a big update on Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's future.

Talking to Collider, he revealed that "Season 2 [will be released] in '26, I think," before explaining, "We will have a Spider-Man season every year if I have anything to say about it. What usually happens, as you know, in animation, is that there's a bigger gap between Season 1 and Season 2 than in subsequent seasons, and that'll be similar in Friendly."

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man Showrunner Was Stopped From Using The Fantastic Four...And Big Wheel?!
Image
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man went from being a series no one seemed particularly excited about to a show it seems everyone is now raving about.

During a recent interview with The Breakroom, showrunner Jeff Trammell looked back at season 1 and revealed some of the characters he wasn't able to use. Among them was the relatively obscure Spider-Man villain, Big Wheel.

To bring you up to speed, the comic book version of the character was Jackson Weele, a New York businessman who had embezzled from his company. Fearing that he might be caught, he hired Rocket Racer to steal the incriminating evidence, only for the criminal to blackmail him.

In response, Weele turned to the Tinkerer to create a large metal single-wheeled vehicle - outfitted with all manner of weapons - and became the supervillain known as Big Wheel.

"We thought Big Wheel would be a fun addition, but it just...

Every Superhero in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Ranked
Image
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is Marvel's newest animated series and has reintroduced the character to audiences all over the world. Originally planned to be an animated origin show starring an early version of McU's Peter Parker, the show quickly grew into its own idea, including characters like Norman Osborn and Doc Oc. With all these brand-new, exciting ideas came a lot of opportunities for different versions of characters, particularly heroes.

As the show does take place in a somewhat similar reality to the MCU, many of the heroes in this show bear a striking resemblance to characters whom audiences have already come to know and love. Including the Spider-Menace himself, the show is packed full of comic book heroes big and small.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man Season 2 First Look Officially Reveals Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen
Image
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man wrapped up earlier this week but we already have a first look at season 2. In an unexpected move, the show will introduce Gwen Stacy...and Spider-Gwen!

You may recall us pointing out that the spider that bit Peter Parker hitched a ride on an unknown Midtown High student's bag after sinking its fangs into the teenager. Based on what we see here, we'd bet on that being Gwen.

In the finale, Peter severed ties with Norman Osborn and Oscorp but with Spider-Gwen wielding a device that looks a little like a pumpkin bomb at first glance, could it be that she's the company's new superhero? It's also possible Norman had more spiders than just the one we saw escape into the past.

This will be the first time we've seen Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen portrayed as being the same age and from the same universe since the short-lived 2017 Spider-Man.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man's Final Swing Might Be Better Than Anything We've Seen In The MCU
Image
Spider-Man is in safe hands with Marvel Studios but, in an effort to differentiate this web-slinger from those played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, some much-loved aspects of the character haven't really found their way into the MCU.

We've seen Tom Holland's Peter Parker protect Queens, battle Mysterio in London, and team up with his Variants at the Statue of Liberty. However, it wasn't until Spider-Man: No Way Home that fans got a "final swing" through Manhattan...and even that was shorter than most would like.

Chances are Spider-Man 4 will change things, but in the season finale of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (you can read a full breakdown of all the biggest moments and spoilers here), we get a truly spectacular final swing.

In fact, this is arguably better than anything we've seen in the MCU to date and Marvel Studios might want to take its cues...

Spectacular Spider-man's Josh Keaton Voices [Spoiler] In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man Finale
Image
Josh Keaton first lent his voice to Peter Parker in The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series and he's since reprised the role in several video games (his animated Spidey also made a surprise appearance in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse).

In recent years, Keaton has taken on the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America in What If...? and X-Men '97. Hudson Thames, meanwhile, plays the titular wall-crawler in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

This is a major departure from the comics where Richard and Mary were killed in a plane crash when Peter was still an infant. Why he's behind bars will likely be addressed in season 2; the question is, does Spidey know that this is what's become of...

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man Finale Clip Features Some Spectacular Comic Book Costumes
Image
We're hours away from Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's two-episode finale and Marvel Animation has just dropped a clip from the penultimate chapter, "Hero or Menace," featuring Spidey's classic red and blue costume.

After webbing up some of Big Donovan's gang, the wall-crawler comes face to face with Scorpion. The villain is now wearing a comic-accurate helmet to go with his suit, and this rematch promises to be epic after the beating Mac Gargan previously delivered to Spider-Man.

"I’m a huge fan of the MCU Spider-Man films, but if our show existed in the main MCU timeline, we would be severely limited in the types of stories we could tell and would have a pretty short shelf life," Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man showrunner Jeff Trammell previously said of forging his own path with the series.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Makes One Controversial Spider-Man Franchise an Even Bigger Failure
Image
Quick LinksYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Is an Alternate Version of the MCU StoryThe Series Proves Tom Holland Could’ve Played Spider-Man in Sony’s UniverseSony’s Spider-Man Universe Is Dead for Now

The Spider-Man franchise has touched just about every type of medium out there, from animation to theme parks. And for the most part, the franchise has achieved a ton of success for both Marvel and Sony for many years. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is another animated series featuring the wall-crawler and proving to be among the best there's been in a long line of them. The series comes from Marvel Studios and brings Peter Parker back to his high school roots, and while the story might appear repetitive on the surface, it's putting a lot of twists on the familiar mythos to make it a refreshing entry. The new animated series is also bringing to light one of...

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Is Doing Justice To A Villain The MCU Forgot
Image
Spoilers for "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" follow.

"Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" episode 7, "Scorpion Rising," sees Peter Parker (Hudson Thames) facing his greatest challenge yet -- and nearly losing his life to it. That challenge's name is Mac Gargan (Jonathan Medina), leader of a criminal gang called the Scorpions. The season had been building up a gang war between the Scorpions and their rivals, the 1 & 10th Street gang, represented by Peter's friend (and future enemy) Lonnie Lincoln (Eugene Byrd).

Episode 6, "Duel with the Devil," ended with the Scorpions discovering their rivals' hideout, and Mac getting fitted with green scorpion themed armor, complete with a stinger tail, by Otto Octavius (Hugh Dancy). The Scorpion springs his trap in the following episode. Spider-Man intervenes, but nothing he throws at Gargan keeps him down. Proving the tail isn't just for show, Scorpion stabs Spider-Man through his shoulder. Spider-Man is left bleeding out as the Scorpion approaches,...

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man: Charlie Cox's Returns As Daredevil To Battle Spidey In Amazing New Clip
Image
The hope among the vast majority of MCU fans is that Tom Holland's Spider-Man will finally cross paths with Charlie Cox's Daredevil in next year's Spider-Man 4 (Peter Parker and Matt Murdock only briefly crossed paths in Spider-Man: No Way Home).

Rumour has it Sony is more interested in another Multiversal tale. With the wall-crawler's next solo outing set to be released between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, that's probably a safe bet.

Time will tell, but in a newly released clip from Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, we get a taste of what a Spider-Man vs. Daredevil battle could look like on screen. This is only part of their clash in tomorrow's sixth episode, though it's every bit as spectacular as we'd hoped.

Cox reprises his Daredevil: Born Again role as this Variant of the Man Without Fear, with Hudson Thames lending his voice to the web-slinger.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man TV Spot Highlights Peter Parker's Prodigy, Ricochet, And Dusk Suits
Image
Peter Parker hit the big time in last week's episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, donning a spectacular Oscorp suit created for him by Norman Osborn.

However, before showing off his new look as Spider-Man, the teenager was outfitted with three different identities by his mentor: Prodigy, Ricochet, and Dusk. They all flopped, but the series did a phenomenal job translating them from page to screen.

In a new TV spot for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, you can take a closer look at Spidey's short-lived suits in action. And, if you need a reminder of how things played out, our episode recaps can be found here.

Collider recently spoke to Spider-Man voice actor Hudson Thames and asked if the series diverging from the MCU gave him a little more creative freedom with how he portrayed the web-slinger.

"Totally, I kind of had to, there, there was a period in between What If.

‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Just Tackled One of Marvel’s Most Niche Characters
Image
Who doesn't love a niche character? Kite-Man, Dr. Phosphorus, Madame Web. When our favorite comic book films and TV series do their homework and reference an out-of-left-field character, it's fun. Speaking of left field, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man just tackled one such character. Maybe. Lonnie Lincoln's (Eugene Byrd) unassuming coach, Grayfield (Roger Craig Smith), may eventually turn out to be none other than Marvel Comics' character NFL SuperPro. Who? That's right. But it's complicated.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 5 recap and ending explained
Image
Let's do a bit of a recap, shall we? Peter Parker has spent just a few months being a superhero in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and he has worn more than 5 costumes, gone up against three bionically-enhanced individuals, and accidentally revealed his secret identity to two other people. Needless to say, the wall-crawler has lived a few eventful weeks lately, but the worst is yet to come.

See, someone has been selling mechanic enhancements to small-time criminals and turning them into almost unstoppable nightmares. Audiences of the latest Disney Plus series were left in the dark for quite some time about the identity of this weapon dealer, but back in episode 4, the cat was finally out of the bag. Turns out that Doctor Octopus wants to make a name for himself in New York City, and he won't stop at anything to achieve that goal as evidenced in the latest episode of the series.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man Showrunner Breaks Down Episode 4's Big Harry Osborn Twist - Spoilers
Image
In the fourth episode of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Peter Parker dons a costume made for him by Norman Osborn. His white Oscorp suit proves a hit but, when the teenager returns to Oscorp to thank his mentor, he inadvertently unmasks in front of Harry Osborn.

The McU's Spider-Man didn't guard his secret identity as closely as some fans would like, though this Variant at least seems to be trying to stop those closest to him from finding out he's a superhero.

Talking to Screen Rant, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man showrunner Jeff Trammell explained why Harry discovered Peter's big secret and how that's likely to play into their relationship moving forward.

"I think there's a part of it where it's really fun to delve into Norman as a mentor, but Norman as a mentor can't kind of be like your day-to-day guy because he is so busy, it would be a detriment to Oscorp.

What Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Can Learn From Invincible
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Invincible."

"Invincible" has returned for its third season on Prime Video, releasing concurrently with the debut season of "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" on Disney+. With this new rival, does "Invincible" retain its title as "probably the best superhero series in the universe"? I'd say it does, and it comes down to how "Invincible" writes its lead character Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun).

It makes sense to compare these shows, because "Invincible," both the series and the original comic by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, is basically Spider-Man plus "Dragon Ball." (Viltrumites are more-or-less Saiyans. Omni-Man's look evokes Superman but his character arc is closer to Vegeta.)

Though Peter Parker doesn't have an alien warrior for a dad, he and Mark Grayson are quite similar people. Like Peter, Mark is a young man who gets superpowers but realizes being a superhero isn't as fun as...

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 3 recap and ending explained
Image
After two incredible debut episodes, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man quickly positioned itself as one of the best Disney Plus animated shows ever created. Its story re-imagines the wall-crawler in a way that faithfully honors the original Stan Lee and Steve Ditko version of the character while giving it some unique twists of its own along the way. Fans finally got what they wanted to see for a while now: A hero who looks out for the little guy.

Unlike its Marvel Cinematic Universe counterpart, this new iteration of Peter Parker never got the chance to meet fan-favorite characters such as Mj or Ned Leeds. Furthermore, Iron Man never entered the picture to teach the superpowered teenager how to be a hero, and the Vulture hasn't had the chance to cause any trouble (for the time being).

Instead, Spidey faces a major conspiracy that could lead him to uncover someone sinister...

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man Writer On Whether To Trust Norman Osborn Amid Green Goblin Speculation
Image
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man puts a new spin on many familiar faces, including Norman Osborn. Comic book fans will know him best as the Green Goblin, Spidey's greatest enemy and someone who Peter Parker can never truly trust (even when he's free of his darker half).

That doesn't mean this Marvel Animation series will head down that route, of course, but it seems inevitable that Norman will become the Goblin, whether it's later in season 1 or the recently confirmed second and third seasons.

Talking to Collider, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man showrunner Jeff Trammell discussed the decision to have Norman fill the role of Peter Parker's mentor and how he approached the preconceived notions fans are likely to have about the iconic villain.

"Yeah, so when you hear Norman Osborn is Peter Parker’s mentor, your mind immediately goes, this ain’t good. So, I think, you know, in crafting our Norman,...

“Our Norman Has Different Nuances”: ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Creator Teases Colman Domingo’s Multi-Layered Norman Osborne
Image
“With great power comes great responsibility” is probably a quote that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man creator, Jeff Trammell, thought about rather frequently when putting together the upcoming animated series. Delivering a fandom what they’re looking for is no small task, and, with so many characters to get right, that feeling of responsibility goes further than just the titular web-slinger. The vibrant production will also dig into the stories of several other characters both recognizable and not as well known, including Otto Octavius (Hugh Dancy), Matt Murdock aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox), and Lonnie Lincoln (Eugene Byrd), with Trammell and the rest of the creative team ensuring that they each personality gets their time to shine.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man Teaser Showcases The Villains We'll See In Upcoming Episodes
Image
The first two episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man premiered on Disney+ earlier this week and, on Wednesday, we're getting three more instalments of the Marvel Animation series (check back here then for our recaps).

Spidey has already squared off with Butane, but if the newly released teaser below is any indication, we'll soon see the wall-crawler battle everyone from Speed-Demon to Scorpion, and perhaps even Doctor Octopus. It also looks like the hero will go one-on-one with the Man Without Fear, Daredevil.

During a recent Reddit Ama, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man showrunner Jeff Trammell said, "I'm really excited for you guys to see our version of Scorpion. He is exactly as deranged and scary as he should be."

"Since we're telling a new story featuring our Peter, I wanted to open up the world to more Marvel characters that haven't been used," he added. "For me it was...

What to watch this weekend Jan. 31, 2025: TV awards contenders
Image
Apple TV+ has come a long way since its debut, when it was more of a nebulous idea than a fully functioning streaming platform. One of the service’s best comedies from those early days, the Emmy-nominated Mythic Quest, is still chugging along though. The show, which follows a group of coworkers at a video game studio, returns this week with a fourth season that proves the series is comfortable in its skin but is smartly evolving alongside its characters as they enjoy the fruits of their labor in an ever-changing video game landscape.

In its long-awaited return — the first two episodes of which are now streaming — Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao) is finally embarking on her own journey, which proves difficult for Ian (co-creator Rob McElhenney), who struggles with their diverging paths. Elsewhere, the success of a new game leads to questions of proper compensation for Dana (Imani Hakim), while the...

Bones Owes Everything to 1 Tiny Detail That Quietly Saved the Show in Season 4
Image
It’s no secret that Fox’s Boneswas and is the oddball of crime-fighting procedurals. The unexpectedly funny show dominated airwaves for twelve astounding years, and it’s still earning new fans. However, like any show, it had its moments. There are only so many new ideas, after all. While other procedurals are known for their grisly realism, Bones opted for a character-driven narrative. That’s not to say it’s a bad show; it’s a unique gem in its own league of American television. Still, like anything else, it eventually grew stale. Its second season earned an astounding 9.4 million average viewers per episode, yes. But the following season saw a small but considerable dip to 8.9 million viewers.

That’s around 600,000 lost viewers per episode. It’s not a world-shattering viewership dip, but no showrunner wants to see a ratings slump. Other procedurals may have responded by shaking up...

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Almost Featured a Teenage Jessica Jones
Image
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man showrunner Jeff Trammell shared the creative team’s original plans of introducing a teenage version of Jessica Jones. Marvel Studios’ newest Disney+ animated series is currently being led by Hudson Thames as the voice of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, after initially voicing the hero during the first season of What If…?

During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Trammell confirmed that before finalizing Nico Minoru’s inclusion in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, they originally considered introducing a younger version of Jessica Jones to become Peter Parker’s classmate. "There was another character that we considered. I don’t know if I can say," he said. "Well, I’ll say first that, yes, as we knew we were going to do something different. It was kind of like, for this story we want to tell, we need certain characters to fit these roles. And for me, I love Nico.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man Showrunner Hints At Role For The Spectacular Spider-man's Josh Keaton
Image
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is off to a good start on Disney+. The first two episodes premiered yesterday and, as we write this, it sits at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now, showrunner Jeff Trammell has dropped a big hint about what's to come in the Marvel Animation TV show by sharing a recent X post from The Spectacular Spider-Man star Josh Keaton.

As you can see below, Keaton appears to have attended some sort of cast event, prompting Trammell to say, "Huh... Would ya look at that..." We're not going to spoil whether the actor lends his voice to a character in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man - you'll have to wait and see - but in a Reddit Ama this week, Trammell repeatedly shared his love of the series.

"My favorites were the 90's series and The Spectacular Spider-Man," he told one fan. "They definitely influenced my storytelling, especially the slow-burn approach to building the villains,...

'Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's Jeff Trammell Responds To Lead Star’s Woke Worries
Image
The showrunner and head writer behind Marvel Animation's new Disney+ series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Jeff Trammell, has now commented on lead actor Hudson Thames’ questionable comments regarding fears that the series would be “annoying and woke.” Taking part in a Reddit “Ask Me Anything,” Trammell was asked about the comments, with the writer believing that Thames simply “misspoke.”

“Ha, I love Hudson and didn’t focus too much on what he said. I believe he simply misspoke, and I know that’s been weighing on him. I think we made a fantastic show that is going to appeal to a wide audience and hopefully captures what I love about this Spider-Man: that he’s a guy who cares deeply about the people around him and always tries to do the right thing.”

While the word “woke” has now been twisted into something negative (often being used as red...
