Northwest Passage: a tough portrayal of frontier warfare blighted by racism
Based on a guts-and-glory novel, this film depicts all native Americans as degenerate subhumans, makes Major Rogers look like Peter Pan and is surprisingly hardcore about cannibalism

Northwest Passage (1940)

Director: King Vidor

Entertainment grade: D

History grade: C

Rogers' Rangers were an independent company within the British army during the seven years' war in North America.

Fictional mapmaker Langdon Towne (Robert Young) meets a fellow who appears to be dressed as Peter Pan. Sportscake™: Matthew Mitcham, Cheeky Rugby Players, and More!
Since discontinuing The Week in Sports feature back in December, we've had a lot of requests to revive it. There's just something about images of handsome male athletes in action that our readers never tire of looking at. Who knew we had so many sports enthusiasts around here!

Anyway, while we can't bring it back as a regular feature, we did promise that The Week in Sports would make an occasional appearance around these parts. And this week we did come across a trove of amazing sports wire photos, so we felt we had to share.

This bounty of athletic beefcake – or "sportscake™" as we're calling it – includes shots of Matthew Mitcham and other divers at the Fina Diving World Series, Lebron James, Roger Federer, a bunch of cheeky rugby players, and more! Who knows, maybe it'll give you some ideas on guys to vote for in the Hot 100.

Enjoy!
