Red Sonja Star Matilda Lutz Dons Classic Chain-Mail Bikini In New BTS Photo And Featurette
Image
On the heels of the recent teaser trailer, IGN has shared a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming Red Sonja reboot, and it highlights some action-packed new footage of the She-Devil with a Sword laying waste to her enemies.

In addition, the movie's official Instagram page has posted some new stills and a BTS photo of star Matilda Lutz wearing Sonja's iconic (not to mention infamous) chain-mail bikini.

The trailer actually shows the bikini right at the end - but not with Lutz in it! We assume Sonja will wear the two-piece armor for a few brief scenes as she competes as a gladiator at the behest of the villainous Draygan before returning to her (slightly) less revealing and more practical costume.

Have a peek behind the scenes at the making of the new sword & sorcery movie Red Sonja: pic.twitter.com/VnY0ixCXrj

Red Sonja shares a behind-the-scenes promo and a chainmail bikini selfie
Matilda Lutz in Red Sonja (2025)
A reboot of Red Sonja spent nearly fifteen years in development hell before going into production in 2022 with director M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) at the helm. Before Bassett signed on, the project had passed through the hands of directors Robert Rodriguez, Simon West, Bryan Singer, and Joey Soloway, with Hannah John-Kamen, Rose McGowan, and Amber Heard being considered for the lead role. Matilda Lutz ended up starring in the film, which is set to receive a theatrical release (courtesy of Samuel Goldwyn Films) on August 13 before arriving on digital on August 29. With those dates swiftly approaching, a behind-the-scenes look at the film’s stunts, fights, cast, and horses has been shared on social media, along with a selfie Lutz took while wearing the title character’s iconic chainmail bikini.

Bassett directed the film from a screenplay by Joey Soloway (Transparent) and Tasha Huo (Netflix’s Tomb Raider anime). This version...

Sydney Sweeney's Worst Movie, According To IMDb
Image
Star of "Euphoria," "The White Lotus," and "The Handmaid's Tale," Sydney Sweeney has shot to fame in recent years and has been consistently impressing audiences. The in-demand actress started young, appearing on an episode of NBC's "Heroes" as a child in 2009 and making her film debut around the same time, in the independent horror "Zmd: Zombies of Mass Destruction." From these early appearances as a child star, Sweeney has gone on to accrue a seriously impressive list of credits, appearing in the Netflix comedy-drama "Everything Sucks!" and Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood."

While Sweeney herself has regularly proved popular with audiences — her casting is often a highlight of the movies and series with which she has been involved — not every project she has been a part of has enjoyed resounding success. On IMDb, Sweeney's lowest-rated film has scored just a 3.4 out of 10, though it's a...

Red Sonja stands in the way of a conqueror in the new trailer for the long-delayed film
Image
It’s finally here, folks. After years of delays, with names like Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan once attached, the remake of Red Sonja is about to be released. Samuel Goldwyn Films snagged the U.S. distribution rights for the Millennium Films production. Red Sonja Trailer: The She-Devil With A Sword Returns For Revenge In Bloody First Footage
Image
It had been so long since we had any updates on the Red Sonja reboot that a lot of fans had given up hope of ever seeing the movie, but we got word that the project had found a US distributor in Samuel Goldwyn Films back in March, and the first official trailer has now been released (via EW).

The teaser finds the She-Devil with a Sword (Revenge star Matilda Lutz) captured by the ruthless Dragan (Robert Sheehan) and forced to fight in a gladiatorial-style arena. Sonja manages to escape, and joins forces with a group of fellow warriors to seek vengeance against Dragan and his wife, Dark Annisia (Wallis Day).

There's plenty of bloody action, some fantastical creatures (brought to life with surprisingly decent CGI), and Sonja's infamous chain-mail bikini even makes an appearance - though not with her in it!

Check out the trailer below along with a new poster.

Nick Jonas Set As Kiss Singer Paul Stanley In STX Movie ‘Shout It Out Loud’
Image
Exclusive: Nick Jonas is near closed on a deal to star as Kiss lead singer Paul Stanley in Shout It Out Loud, the McG-directed film about the formation of the venerable hard rock band in the 1970s. The film will go into production at the end of the year or in early 2026, with STX fully financing. The most recent draft is by Darren Lemke. Previous drafts were done by Ole Sanders and the first writer of the script was William Herron.

I’m told that Jonas will do his own singing, and he’ll need time to train to replicate the jet-engine vocals of Stanley. Besides headlining in the sibling band The Jonas Brothers, Jonas has also proven his chops onscreen. His rise began with the 2016 toxic masculinity hazing drama Goat. He shone in the Mma series Kingdom, as a young gay man who grows up in a family...

Sylvester Stallone Action Sequel 'Rambo: Last Blood' Finds Success on Netflix
Image
One of the most divisive action movies in the repertoire of Hollywood icon (and now a so-called "Special Ambassador" tasked with saving the industry) Sylvester Stallone is climbing the charts on Netflix. Released back in 2019, Stallone leads the final outing for one of his most beloved characters, John Rambo, in Rambo: Last Blood, which finds the hero battling a cartel after someone close to him is kidnapped.

Rambo: Last Blood is now #7 on the Netflix chart, just behind the likes of other action outings Miss Congeniality, Rogue Agent, and the Die Hard-esque Aftermath, which holds the top spot. Directed by Adrian Grünberg from a screenplay co-written by Matthew Cirulnick and Sylvester Stallone, Last Blood stars Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Adriana Barraza, Yvette Monreal, Genie Kim aka Yenah Han, Joaquín Cosío, and Óscar Jaenada alongside Stallone. February 1 Will Be a Frustrating Day for Jason Statham Fans
Image
February will bring several new additions to Max's streaming library, including a Jason Statham-led action movie sequel. Perhaps frustratingly, its predecessor will not be joining it.

On Feb. 1, 2016's Mechanic: Resurrection will be hitting Max. Directed by Dennis Gansel, the film is a sequel to the 2011 movie The Mechanic, which was itself a remake of Charle Bronson's 1972 actioner of the same name. Mechanic: Resurrection was a box office success, earning over $125 million worldwide – a sizable improvement over the first movie's haul of $76 million. For some fans of Statham, however, the movies are still best enjoyed together, so Max subscribers looking to first watch 2011's The Mechanic won't be able to do so on the same streaming platform in February.

Jason Statham's 'The Mechanic' and 'Redemption' are Leaving Netflix on December 31, 2024
Image
As the end of 2024 approaches, Netflix are making it a sad goodbye to the year for fans of two Jason Statham action movies, as The Mechanic and Redemptionwill be dropped from the streamer on December 31 as their syndicated content shifts around for the new year. In short, get your fix now before it is too late.

The Mechanic, a remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson movie under the direction of Simon West, is a classic example of the brand of action Statham kills every time. In his first outing as near-perfect assassin Arthur Bishop, the Brit has to avenge the death of his mentor, keep himself alive, and teach his mentor’s son a few life-lessons along the way. You know, they usual. Meanwhile, Steven Knight’s directorial debut, Redemption (also known as Hummingbird), puts the actor in the role of ex-special forces soldier Joey Smith, who assumes the identity of...

New Year's Eve Will Be a Terrible Day for Jason Statham Fans
Image
The end of the year is not something to celebrate for Jason Statham fans, as Dec. 31 may be a rather unfortunate day for fans of the action movie actor who are subscribed to Netflix.

As per Netflix, Dec. 31 will mark the last day Statham's The Mechanic and Redemption are available to stream on the platform. Both movies are considered favorites for many fans of the actor. The Mechanic, released in 2011, served as a remake of the 1972 movie starring action genre legend Charles Bronson. Statham's version earned over $76 million at the box office upon release, and despite its initial mixed reviews, the movie has come to a place where it's fondly celebrated by fans as one of the action star's underrated films. It spawned a sequel in 2016's Mechanic: Resurrection, which was a box office hit with over $125 million earned, though

McG in Talks to Direct Kiss Biopic ‘Shout It Out Loud’ for STX
Image
McG is in final talks to direct and produce “Shout It Out Loud,” a biopic about the legendary rock band Kiss with founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley serving as executive producers, individuals with knowledge of the talks confirmed to TheWrap.

With their signature face paint, over-the-top stage costumes and pyro-filled live shows, Kiss has built up one of the most wildly passionate fanbases ever seen in music history since their debut album 50 years ago.

In 1975, the band broke out with their first live album “Alive!,” which is considered to be one of the greatest live albums ever recorded and began a slew of hit songs that includes “Detroit Rock City,” “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” and their most famous single, “Rock and Roll All Nite.”

While lead guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss departed from the band, Simmons and Stanley continued Kiss with replacements Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man — Cast, Plot, Director And More Info
Image
For a comic book movie franchise that has never reached the heights of most Marvel or DC films of the last two decades, "Hellboy" has remained shockingly resilient. To that end, Mike Mignola's beloved character is set for yet another big-screen reboot in the form of "Hellboy: The Crooked Man." This time around, the character will be headed back to the 1950s for a folk horror adventure based on one the most celebrated storylines from the comics.

This will be the character's first film since 2019's "Hellboy." Starring David Harbour, it proved to be a critical and commercial disaster. Be that as it may, Millennium Media is set to try to bring the character to life once again with a lower-budget take on the material. So, when will you be able to see the movie? Who is playing Hellboy? Who is directing this time around? We've got all of...

The episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw covering 2001 Maniacs was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Kier Gomes, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

Robert Englund doing a demented Colonel Sanders impression. Lin Shaye putting on a deadly song and dance routine. Enough politically incorrect elements to offend pretty much everybody. Buckets of gore. Gratuitous nudity. And a cameo appearance by Eli Roth, playing his Cabin Fever character. Put all of this together and you get 2001 Maniacs (watch it Here). The director calls it a “splatstick” movie. Splatter combined with slapstick comedy. We call it The Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.

‘Expendables 4’ Trailer: Old Blood Meets New Blood
Image
The official trailer for Expendables 4, written as Expend4bles – looks great in print, sounds weird if you say it as it’s spelled – shows Jason Statham and Megan Fox getting physical while the tagline declares: “Some relationships are built to last and some relationships are…Expendable.” The two-minute trailer then shows action fans a montage of select members of the ensemble cast, including Sylvester Stallone, Curtis 50 Cent Jackson, Dolph Lundgren, and Andy Garcia.

Directed by Scott Waugh, the fourth film of the action franchise also stars Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Randy Couture, Jacob Scipio, and Levy Tran.

Kurt Wimmer, Tad Daggerhart, and Max Adams wrote the screenplay, based on characters created by David Callaham. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, Robert Van Norden, Jeffrey Greenstein, Jonathan Yunger, Spenser Cohen, Anna Halberg, and Stephen Paul executive produce. Additional executive producers include Gareth West, Allen Dam, Michael S. Constable, Lati Grobman,...

Hellboy: The Crooked Man: Everything We Know So Far About The Comic Book Movie Reboot
Image
A new "Hellboy" reboot is coming! Created by artist and writer Mike Mignola in 1993 for Dark Horse Comics, Hellboy is a larger-than-life half-human, a half-demon superhero. Through the decades, Hellboy has found steady success in printed publications and continued to appear on the page even 30 years after his origin. In a comics landscape that is consistently changing, Hellboy has managed to stay endlessly relevant.

While the monster hunter has been successful in the arena of comic books, his arrival on the silver screen is mired with uncertainty. The character has been previously brought to life in Guillermo del Toro's two-part film franchise starring actor Ron Perlman as the harbinger of the apocalypse. While the first two films made a "little bit of profit," a third never materialized as studios saw it as a "dangerous" project, del Toro once revealed.

A 2019 reboot of the film starring actor David Harbour was a commercial and critical failure.

Red Sonja: How M.J. Bassett broke the reboot out of development hell
Image
A reboot of Red Sonja spent nearly fifteen years in development hell before going into production last year with director M.J. Today The Hollywood Reporter posted an interesting article about how Red Sonja was able to escape from development hell… and it basically boils down to a director’s enthusiasm for the material and a producer’s desperation to get the movie made.

The 50-something Bassett says she has been borderline obsessed with Red Sonja since her childhood, and “I cursed every time they announced someone else (as director). I kept telling them, ‘When you change again, let me know.’” And they did let her know when Soloway...

Red Sonja: Rhona Mitra joins the cast, Oliver Trevena drops out
Image
Near the end of August, it was announced that the long-awaited Red Sonja reboot was filming with M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) directing and Matilda Lutz (Revenge) taking on the lead role. In early September, we heard that Oliver Trevena (The Rising Hawk) had joined Lutz in the cast – and Trevena’s character was the only one, other than Red Sonja herself, we ever got a description of. The actor had been cast as Tr’aal, “a gladiator-type warrior who joins Sonja in her fight against an evil emperor”. Unfortunately Deadline reports that Trevena has since had to drop out of Red Sonja due to scheduling issues. They also report that Rhona Mitra of Doomsday and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is in the cast, but no details about her character have been revealed.

Bassett is directing the film from a screenplay by Joey Soloway (Transparent) and Tasha Huo (Netflix’s...
