From The 100 to The Newsroom to Underground to True Blood (my personal favorite) to her roles in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story anthology, actress Adina Porter has a long list of credits to her name. But it’s her role in the most recent Ahs iteration Cult, that earned Porter her first Emmy nomination. The actress visited the New Hollywood Podcast to share her journey to this significant milestone in her life.

A New York native, Porter started off on stage and made her way to television, but one thing that the Ahs star prides herself on is that, as a black actress, she has never compromised her look to cater to a role she wanted. She has never changed her hair, her body and wears her dark skin as a badge of honor. It has and continues to work for the actress because she is slaying the game and inspiring others.

Halle, Oprah, Beyonce, Mariah & More Rumored To Be In New Tyler Perry Film
A couple of weeks ago it was reported that Lionsgate Films had tapped Tyler Perry to write, direct and produce an adaptation of the 1975 play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf." The film is slated to be the first project for Perry's 34th Street Films production company, housed at Lionsgate.

Well during that time we discovered that "For Colored Girls" will begin shooting in Atlanta in November, with Lionsgate planning a release next year. In case you hadn't heard the play is a series of 20 poems telling stories of love, abandonment, domestic abuse and other issues faced by black women.

Lionsgate has picked up feature rights to Ntozake Shange’s stage play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.” Music video helmer Nzingha Stewart will direct and adapt the film. The play was first performed back in 1975 then made into a 1982 telepic for “American Playhouse” which starred Shange, Laurie Carlos, Trazana Beverly, Alfre Woodard and Lynn Whitfield The play consists of 20 poems which tell of love, domestic abuse, abandonment among other issues faced by many black women.
