Loretta Devine, Tia Mowry, Richard Roundtree, Anthony Alabi, Talia Jackson, Jordyn Raya James, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, and Cameron J. Wright in Family Reunion (2019)
Family Reunion is coming to an end.

Netflix on Monday handed out a renewal for a third and final season of the multicamera comedy.

This also marks the lowest episode order for the series, down from 20 and 15 episodes in seasons one and two, respectively.

Series creator Meg DeLoatch had handed over the showrunning duties to Adrienne Carter (Everybody Hates Chris) and Arthur Harris (Living Single).

DeLoatch will still have a creative involvement, but she will not be running the show on a day-to-day basis for the final episodes.

DeLoatch was named the showrunner of the CBS comedy series The Neighborhood, complicating a return to Family Reunion full-time.

“I am so excited that Family Reunion will be returning for a third season,” said DeLoatch in a statement.

"I will always be grateful to Netflix for giving me the opportunity to finally tell my story and the platform to share the beautiful,...

The streamer announced the renewal on Monday, as well as the news that the show’s swan-song season will consist of 10 episodes with Adrienne Carter and Arthur Harris serving as showrunners and executive producers. (Former showrunner Meg DeLoatch, who created Family Reunion, is now doing the honors on CBS’ The Neighborhood, but will continue to executive-produce Family Reunion Season 3.)

‘Family Reunion’ Renewed for Third and Final Season at Netflix
Image
Netflix renewed family sitcom “Family Reunion” for a 10-episode third and final season.

The series follows the McKellan family who moved from Seattle to Georgia in the series premiere to be closer to extended family. Now there are three generations living in the same house, and house is stuffed full of people. During the first two seasons, which were split into two parts each, the characters had to adjust to their new lifestyle, which included three-hour church services and “huge humidity hair,” as the network puts it. As complicated as things could be, there has been a lot of family bonding and learning and growing along the way, as well, and the final season should continue that pattern.

“I am so excited that ‘Family Reunion’ will be returning for a third season,” said creator and executive producer Meg DeLoatch in a statement. I will always be grateful to Netflix for...

Asante Blackk Remembers Ja’Net DuBois: ‘She Was a Huge Ball of Light That Lit Up The Stage’
Asante Blackk, Marquis Rodriguez, Caleel Harris, and Ethan Herisse in When They See Us (2019)
“When They See Us” and “This Is Us” actor Asante Blackk reminisced on the brief time he recently shared with late actress Ja’Net DuBois as they worked on the live rendition of the ’70s sitcom “Good Times.”

DuBois, who played the Evans family’s neighbor Willona Woods in the original series, died in her sleep in her Glendale, California home on Tuesday, Feb. 18. She was believed to be 74.

“I remember it was the day before we were getting ready to go live and we were all in rehearsal — dress rehearsal, in the makeup, trailer and everything. I saw her and at first, I didn’t recognize her,” Blackk told the audience at the “Black History: Inspiring Stories on Television” panel hosted by the Television Academy. “She said, ‘You were so amazing in ‘When They See Us.’ And I go, ‘Thank you so much.’ Then she goes, ‘That’s when you say,...

Houston Residents Trapped by Floodwaters Receive Chicken, Biscuits (and Prayers) from Good Samaritans
Adrienne Carter in Ebbie (1995)
As the water recedes in most of the Greater Houston area in the days after deadly Hurricane Harvey, some communities remain isolated by pockets of standing water.

James Brown and his wife Adrienne Carter are just one couple unable to get out of their Southeast Houston neighborhood because of two feet of water remaining on the major thoroughfare of Telephone Road.

But, as captured in a video posted by Houstons’ local CBS affiliate, Khou, the community has rallied around the neighborhood to bring much-needed food and supplies to those who are stuck.

“Want some chicken ma’am?,” refinery worker Steven Clark...
