Born in Bologna (Italy) in 1964, in his formative years Arnaldo Catinari studied Architecture at the University of Florence and later was admitted into Rome's Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, were he studied Directing with Gianni Amelio and Cinematography with Carlo di Palma and Giuseppe Lanci.
The beginning of his career as Director of Photography was divided between Italy and Spain and he quickly became much appreciated, as evidenced by the numerous awards received.
In 2015 he was called to curate the cinematography of "Suburra", the first original Netflix series in Italy. After the first two seasons as DoP, he was commissioned to direct the entire third season thus resuming the role of Director, suspended since 1992 after the movie "From the other side of the world", winner of the "Vittorio De Sica first work" of that year.
Overall, he has signed the cinematography of over 80 films, collaborating with some of the best Italian Directors, including names like Nanni Moretti, Paolo Virzì, Gabriele Muccino and Matteo Rovere.
