'The Cleaning Lady’ Fans Get a Win After Devastating Cancellation Blow
Image
The Cleaning Lady was recently cancelled after four seasons on Fox. During its run on the network, the drama series had new episodes available to stream on Hulu, a day after their TV debut. All four seasons are still available to stream on Hulu. However, more people will now be able to access the entire series as the complete season has also become available to stream on a new platform. While Season 4 aired, The Cleaning Lady Seasons 1 – 3 were available to stream on HBO Max, but the fourth season was exclusive to Hulu. The streamer has now revealed that Season 4 is finally joining the rest, giving Max subscribers access to Thony De La Rosa's complete story, as it were.

Inspired by the 2017 Argentine television series La chica que limpia, The Cleaning Lady follows Thony De La Rosa, a Cambodian surgeon who immigrates to the US seeking medical care for her ailing son.

Fox Just Confirmed Our Worst Fears For Its 4-Season Fan-Favorite Drama's Future
Image
The Cleaning Ladyseason 5 gets a definitive update, as the future of the fan-favorite crime drama becomes clear. Based on an Argentinian series, the Fox dramafocuses on Thony De La Rosa (Daredevil's Élodie Yung). A Cambodian-Filipino former surgeon, Thony gets by as a cleaning service worker alongside her sister-in-law. Everything changes, though, when she witnesses a murder.

Since the adaptation's debut in January 2022, loyal fans have invested in Thony's maneuvering within a criminal organization. But signs of trouble for The Cleaning Lady season 5 were evident as soon as new episodes premiered. Fox made it official in June, cancelling the crime drama after four seasons.

Asked whether the drama seriescould be saved by another channel or platform, TVLineshoots down that possibility. The outlet makes clear, in the response below, that there are no plans to pick up The Cleaning Lady elsewhere:

The chances are, alas, zero. I am assured that The...

'The Blacklist' Star, 65, Reveals Why the Show's Controversial Ending Happened the Way It Did
Image
Crime on television can be quite something as it often brings audiences in contact with charismatic and enticing crime bosses. In NBC's crime drama, The Blacklist, we were introduced to one such character in Raymond “Red” Reddington, played by James Spader. The series wove an intricate web of stories that ranged from the actual blacklist itself, the real identity of the Boston crime boss and his relationship with another key character in the series, Megan Boone's Elizabeth Keen. Keen herself would depart in Season 8, with the show deciding to kill her off. The Blacklist was renewed for a tenth and final season on NBC in 2022, and its somewhat ambiguous ending didn't quite land with its audience.

The Blacklist Season 10 would end with Red being killed by a bull after escaping to Spain. Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) would find Red's body and place his hat on the body. Speculations...

‘Alert: Missing Persons Unit,’ ‘The Cleaning Lady’ Canceled at Fox
Image
Fox has canceled its drama series Alert: Missing Persons Unit and The Cleaning Lady.

The decision comes shortly after the two shows wrapped their 2024-25 seasons: Alert aired its last episode on May 27, and The Cleaning Lady finished up on June 3. They end their runs on Fox after three and four seasons.

The cancellations are not a big surprise, as Alert and The Cleaning Lady were at the lower end of Fox’s ratings for the season. In seven-day linear ratings (not including streaming), Alert averaged 2.16 million viewers and The Cleaning Lady, 1.68 million, well below the totals for renewed dramas Doc (4.6 million) and Murder in a Small Town (3.15 million). Fox also canceled first-year drama Rescue: Hi-Surf in May.

With the cancellations, Fox has just two shows still awaiting word on their futures. Animated series The Great North is running through the summer, and the network probably won’t make a decision for a while.

‘Cleaning Lady,’ ‘Alert: Missing Persons Unit’ Canceled at Fox
Image
Both “The Cleaning Lady” and “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” have been canceled at Fox, Variety has learned.

“The Cleaning Lady” had aired four seasons at the broadcast network, while “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” had aired three. Both shows wrapped up with their respective season finales in the past two weeks.

Fox announced their fall schedule going into their upfront presentation to advertisers in May, with both “Cleaning Lady” and “Alert” in limbo at that time. The two shows now join fellow Fox drama “Rescue: Hi-Surf” on the chopping block.

Previously, Fox gave out massive four-season renewals for “The Simpsons,” “Bob’s Burgers” and “Family Guy,” while also bringing “American Dad” back to the network. The medical drama “Doc” has also been renewed for a second season, while Fox has picked up the one-hour comedy “Best Medicine,” dramatic thriller “Memory of a Killer,” and the multi-part scripted event “The Faithful.”

In less than twenty-four hours, Fox’s The Cleaning Lady returns with Season 4, finally providing the answers fans have been waiting for. As Thony De La Rosi’s (Élodie Yung) precarious journey continues on Tuesday, March 25, the show’s new showrunner, Daniel Cerone, has teased a couple of things in store for the resilient character, who now has a new job and a new position in Jorge’s (Santiago Cabrera) cartel.

During an interview with TV Insider, Cerone noted that Thony “is no longer a counterpuncher scrambling to survive” and is “sick of being exploited by both sides of the law.” Plus, in The Cleaning Lady’s new installment, the formerly successful surgeon who was forced to become a snitch by the FBI is now “taking control of her life,” especially since she knows where all “the bodies are buried.”

‘The Cleaning Lady’ Boss Teases Thony’s Romantic Side & New Problems in Season 4
Image
The misadventures of beleaguered immigrant Thony De La Rosi (Elodie Yung) in the U.S. continue for a fourth season of The Cleaning Lady, but the Cambodian-Filipina onetime highly successful surgeon “is no longer a counterpuncher scrambling to survive,” says new showrunner Daniel Cerone. Needing to stay in the States after her visa expired to save the life of her then sick young son Luca (now played by the scene-stealing Khalen Roman Sanchez) and seemingly with no other options but deportation, after being in the wrong place at the wrong time, she was pressed into being a crime scene cleaner for Sin Cara, a Las Vegas cartel with roots in Mexico. But now, “sick of being exploited by both sides of the law [she was forced to become a snitch by the FBI] and a woman who knows where the bodies are buried, she is taking control of her life,” Cerone reveals. “We consider this as a repiloting of the...

'Dexter' Sequel Casts Neil Patrick Harris in Mysterious Guest Role
Image
Production on Dexter: Resurrection is in full swing in New York, and as things continue to evolve, new cast members are still coming aboard the sequel series, including How I Met Your Mother veteran Neil Patrick Harris. Harris starred in the popular CBS sitcom from 2005 to 2014, appearing in 208 episodes as Barney Stinson, a brash and opinionated womanizer known for his expensive suits and “legendary” catchphrases.

Per Variety, Harris joins the already stacked cast of Dexter: Resurrection in a guest-starring role, but other than that, little is known about his part in the series other than his character's name: Lowell. It remains to be seen if he will be a friend to Michael C. Hall's titular serial killer, or if he'll end up on his kill table at some point over the course of the 10-episode season. The series follows the phenomenal success of Dexter: Original Sin, which recently concluded...

Cretton will run the banner with Jeyun Munford, formerly an executive at Universal and Lionsgate, who will act as the company’s president, running both film and television arms.

With a focus on empowering filmmakers and creatives, one of Hisako’s mission statements is a commitment to transforming the film and television landscape by highlighting marginalized stories and pushing them into the mainstream. The company is founded on the underlying conviction that storytelling has the power to unite audiences worldwide through shared emotions and experiences.

One of the first projects out of the gate for Hisako will be the big-screen live-action take on Naruto, one of the most popular mangas of all time.

‘Constantine 2’ Story Being ‘Hashed Out’ With Keanu Reeves, but ‘Script Has to Be Written’; Director Wants a ‘Real Rated R Version’
Image
Variety reported last fall that Keanu Reeves was in talks to return for a sequel to “Constantine,” the 2005 superhero horror movie based on the graphic novels from DC Comics and Vertigo Comics. Francis Lawrence, the 2005 film’s director, offered a small but notable update on the project. The filmmaker is set to return alongside Reeves for the sequel.

It turns out a script for “Constantine 2” still does not exist — it got held up by the WGA strike, which is now over — but the two men and original producer Akiva Goldsman are hashing out the story.

“So ‘Constantine 2’ got obviously held up by the writers strike,” Lawrence recently told GameSpot. “And we had to jump through a bunch of hurdles to get control of the character again, because other people had control of the Vertigo stuff. We have control.”

“Keanu and Akiva Goldsman and I have been in meetings...

‘The Blacklist’ Moving To Thursdays, Sets Date For Two-Hour Series Finale On NBC
Image
NBC drama series The Blacklist, now in its 10th and last season, is moving into its final weeks with some changes ahead. Beginning June 1, the show, which currently airs on Sundays at 10 pm, will move to Thursdays. Back-to-back episodes will air that night, June 1, at 8 pm and 9 pm, with subsequent episodes airing weekly at 8 pm.

This marks one final scheduling move for the longtime utility player — its 11th — to a night where NBC originally slotted the show as a power play in February 2015. Following a red-hot debut and a meteoric early ratings run in the Monday 10 Pm berth, NBC shifted The Blacklist to Thursdays eight episodes into its second season, with the move promoted by the drama getting the post-Super Bowl 2015 slot just before its Thursday debut.

In the first of back-to-back June 1 episodes, titled “The Hat Trick”, Red (James Spader) provides the Task Force with three criminal cases that are deeper than they appear,...

The only soul Satan himself would come up to collect is getting a follow-up film. “Constantine” is back.

Variety can confirm that Warner Bros. will make a sequel to the 2005 supernatural action film “Constantine” starring Keanu Reeves. The blockbuster star will reunite with original director Francis Lawrence, best known for taking over the “Hunger Games” franchise after the first film.

“Constantine” has been a hot property in Hollywood, sparking a NBC series created by Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, and was even more recently being developed into a new series for HBO Max by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions. However, sources tell Variety that the HBO Max series is now dead, although the streamer had been in early talks with an actor for the lead role before the new movie came together. “Dexter” and “The Blacklist” producer Daniel Cerone has boarded the U.K. adaptation of Japanese crime drama format “Connected,” Variety can reveal.
