The Handmaid’s Tale is ending. But to borrow a quote from Margaret Atwood, the end is not the end. And the Hulu series wasn’t the beginning of The Handmaid’s Tale, either.
Back in 1985, Atwood published her best-selling novel of the same name, a near-future dystopian tale about a totalitarian regime, the Republic of Gilead, overthrowing the U.S. government and stripping women of their rights amid a global fertility crisis. The story was told from the point of view of a woman who is renamed Offred after she’s captured, separated from her daughter and forced to be a “handmaid” in Gilead (fertile surrogates for the elite ruling class).
Over the years, Offred’s harrowing and heroic story burrowed itself into the imaginations of readers. Among them was Bruce Miller, who was tapped to adapt the book into the terrifyingly timely Emmy-winning series — after a years-long development process that included lost TV rights,...

Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 must accomplish several changes to fix serious problems that are making the series more difficult to enjoy. The Christopher Meloni-led spinoff of Law & Order: Svu originally focused on Meloni's Elliot Stabler returning to New York and joining the Organized Crime Bureau so he could solve the murder of his wife. Since then, there have been frequent Law & Order: Organized Crime showrunner changes, leading to the series repeatedly reinventing itself.
Although Stabler is a big draw, Organized Crime has long struggled to achieve the large, passionate audience that the other shows in the franchise enjoy. Organized Crime season 5 will air on Peacock, which is meant to solve that problem. However, it is difficult to tell whether the move to Peacock will work, given continued production shake-ups and the lack of a confirmed release date halfway through the 2024-25 television season. Law & Order: Organized Crime premiered in April 2021 with the highly anticipated return of Christopher Meloni’s Detective Elliot Stabler, but a big change before season 5 puts the future of the show in question. The former partner of Olivia Benson during the first twelve seasons of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit returned to New York to investigate the murder of his wife as he joined the Organized Crime task force. The series also explores Stabler’s relationship with his family, including his mother and children.
Organized Crime sets itself apart from other Law & Order shows, including the original and Svu, by focusing more on Stabler’s personal life. The multi-episode cases also give the series the cinematic feel of an action crime drama epic. Law & Order: Organized Crime will return for season 5, but this time on Peacock due to low ratings on NBC last season but stronger viewership on streaming.

Now that Randall has patched things up with his brother and series protagonist Elliot (Chis Meloni), he should make several more appearances. Norris is arguably best known for his role as Hank Sharader on Breaking Bad. Some of his other acting credits include United States of Al, Claws, Better Call Saul, and even The Big Bang Theory.

It’s official: There will no longer be an all Law & Order Thursday night on NBC. For its fifth season, Law & Order: Organized Crime is moving to the streaming service, Peacock. That breaks it up from airing Thursday nights after Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, which also means that chances are there won’t be many (if any) crossovers. And of course, that leads to the inevitable question of what that means for the will they/won’t they slow burn of Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Svu‘s Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Organized Crime was created by Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, and Ilene Chaiken. It follows the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they take on New York City’s most vicious and violent criminal syndicates. “Law & Order: Organized Crime” has been renewed for Season 5, with the show now officially set to move from NBC to Peacock.
The news comes after weeks of speculation that the show would make the jump to the streaming service from the broadcast network. The Season 4 finale will air on NBC on May 16 and stream the next day on Peacock.
Moving “Law & Order: Oc” to Peacock is not altogether surprising. The show has lagged behind fellow Dick Wolf series “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: Svu,” and the three “Chicago” shows at NBC while still maintaining solid viewership. It also reportedly does very well on Peacock, particularly given its more serialized storylines, a departure from Wolf’s typical procedural format.
It was also the last Dick Wolf broadcast show awaiting word on its fate for next season. The other two “Law & Order” shows and all three “Chicago” shows were renewed back in March.

It’s a done deal — NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime starring Christopher Meloni has been renewed for a fifth season, which will be streaming exclusively on Peacock. As Deadline previously reported, Season 5 is expected to consist of 10 episodes, less than what the Wolf Entertainment series produced for NBC under normal circumstances but on the high end of an original streaming series whose seasons typically consist of 8 episodes. John Shiban is returning as showrunner.
The move gives the NBCUniversal streamer an original Dick Wolf drama series to go with the Wolf library and next-day runs of the company’s remaining NBC series Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu, which are among the platform’s most viewed titles.

The L Word: Generation Q Season 4 is not happening, leaving fans disappointed with unresolved storylines. The season 3 finale had unresolved character arcs that would have benefited from more episodes. The show's legacy continues with a new project, The L Word: New York, aiming to capture queer life in a fresh setting.
The L Word has been a trailblazer in the representation of LGBTQ+ lives on television, particularly those of lesbian and bisexual women, but The L Word: Generation Q season 4 isn't happening. The show's bold and dramatic narratives set in Los Angeles captured the complexities and vibrancies of sapphic relationships, earning it a special place in the hearts of many, especially within the queer community. Fast forward to 2019, Showtime rebooted this iconic series with The L Word: Generation Q, introducing both familiar faces and new characters, and continuing to explore LGBTQ+ experiences with an expanded representation.

Reneé Rapp debuted at Coachella on Sunday afternoon and was joined by Kesha on the stage.
Kesha performed her song “Tik Tok” and made a slight change to the lyrics.
Instead of singing, “Wake up in the morning feelin’ like P. Diddy,” Kesha and Rapp sang, “Wake up in the morning like F*** P. Diddy.”
The change in the lyric comes as Sean Combs faces sexual assault allegations and is accused of sex trafficking.
Rapp took the stage at the Outdoor Theatre at the Music and Arts festival, where she had kind words to say about Kesha.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this, I think, is the hottest person on the earth. Everybody put your fucking hands together for Kesha,” Rapp said, introducing her colleague.

One of the three Law & Order shows currently on the air is in danger of getting canceled, but it may not be the end of the line if that happens. As it stands, the series is likely to move over to Peacock to continue on if its run at NBC is over.
Per Deadline, the spinoff series Law & Order: Organized Crime is still on the bubble at NBC. This may have fans of the series concerned, given how the network has already renewed both Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for additional seasons. NBC has also been doling out cancelations lately, giving the boot to shows like Quantum Leap and Magnum P.I., leaving it hard to know what might happen with Organized Crime.

Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu will be back for the 2024-25 season after NBC renewed the pair of shows but spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime is in a slightly more precarious position.
The network has renewed Law & Order for Season 24, while Law & Order: Svu will be back for Season 26.
The future of Law & Order: Organized Crime, which is in its fourth season, is still in discussion at the network. It has been the lowest rated of Dick Wolf’s NBC shows and has had a number of showrunners over its course. Matt Olmstead started out as showrunner, replaced by Ilene Chaiken, who was replaced by Barry O’Brien. Bryan Goluboff was named showrunner for Season 3 but left after three months, replaced by Sean Jablonski, who also left shortly after due to “creative differences” and was replaced by David Graziano. John Shiban is showrunner for Season 4.

On January 18, 2004, Showtime made history with “The L Word”: a spaghetti-strapped melodrama about twiggy lesbians living against a golden-filtered backdrop of mid-aughts Los Angeles.
The stroke of entertainment genius from creator/executive producer Ilene Chaiken premiered that Sunday night in two parts, introducing a revolutionary cast of LGBTQ characters who would change the face and ritual of lesbian pop culture forever. From the moment Jenny (Mia Kirshner) laid eyes on Marina (Karina Lombard)…even before Bette (Jennifer Beals) and Tina (Laurel Holloman) tried to steal that dude’s sperm…or Shane (Katherine Moennig) showed up wearing that leather vest….countless TV-loving shes, theys, and gays saw themselves reflected in a fizzy fictional universe that was finally, mercifully grounded in a semi-authentic lesbian reality.

Fans of Jessica Chastain and Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” are in for another disappointment: The Oscar winner confirmed there is “zero possibility” she will star in the film adaptation.
Netflix first announced a feature film version of the 2017 novel — about a fictional Old Hollywood movie star who gives her final interview — back in 2022. Despite her absence in "Top Gun: Maverick," Kelly McGillis has had a successful career in film since the original "Top Gun" and has continued to act in various genres, particularly in the horror genre. In 2009, McGillis publicly came out as a lesbian, reflecting on her struggles with self-acceptance and embracing her sexuality. In recent years, McGillis has shifted her focus to raising her daughters, committing to her sobriety, and teaching acting at the New York Studio for Stage and Screen, while also managing her genetic condition, alpha one antitrypsin disorder.
Fans of the original Top Gun might be wondering what happened to Kelly McGillis, especially since she didn't return for the blockbuster sequel, 2022's Top Gun: Maverick. John Shiban has been named executive producer and showrunner for “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” NBC announced on Thursday.
The Christopher Meloni-led “Law & Order”spinoff, which has gone through a series of showrunners since its debut in April 2021, is set to air its fourth season midseason.
He replaces Sean Jablonski, who stepped down in March, having been named to the position in Sept. 2022 after Bryan Goluboff’s exit. Previously, Ilene Chaiken served a 14-month stint as executive/producer and showrunner; the show’s co-executive producer Barry O’Brien was promoted to showrunner after her Feb. 2022 exit.
Shiban was an executive producer on the Netflix crime series “Ozark,” which starred Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. He was nominated for both an Emmy and a WGA Award for writing the 2020 episode “Boss Fight.”
Previously, he was under an overall deal at Sony Television while serving as showrunner and executive producer of the Hulu series “Shut Eye.

Eight of Wolf Entertainment/Universal Television writers rooms are opening this week following the end of the writers strike. Additionally, two new showrunners have been named: “Chicago Fire” Season 12 will be run by Andrea Newman, formerly co-showrunner with Derek Haas; and “FBI: International” Season 3 will be run by executive producer Matt Olmstead.
Haas, who co-created “Chicago Fire,” was the previous showrunner of “FBI: International” as well. He exited Wolf Entertainment last November after 10 years.
While Season 3 of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” was first run by Sean Jablonski then later “Svu” showrunner David Graziano, the team is searching for a new Season 4 showrunner. This will be the show’s seventh showrunner, as Barry O’Brien, Bryan Goluboff, Ilene Chaiken and Matt Olmstead previously held the title. The spinoff has not yet set a date to return to the writers room.

Whether it’s superhero fatigue or something else, there’s no denying that the MCU and the DC Universe are falling on hard times. Secret Invasion set record lows for Marvel, as did the reviews for Ant-Man the Wasp: Quantumania, and The Flash stumbled to become the lowest money maker in Warner Bros. history.
But let’s get a little perspective, shall we? These movies aren’t great, but superhero movies are, on the whole, better than what came before the MCU launched in 2008. Throughout the 80s and 90s, superhero movies were almost embarrassed to be about superheroes, forcing Batman into a lame revenge plot for the 1989 film and refusing to let Frank Castle wear his death’s head logo in the Cannon Films direct-to-video release. With the embrace of the genre has come better effects, brighter costumes, and outrageous plots that better reflect the high stakes the genre demands.

The Real L Word aired on Showtime from 2010 to 2012. It was one of the first reality television series to follow the lives of a group of lesbian and bisexual women who lived in Los Angeles. The original cast starred me, Jill Goldstein who was my fiancé at the time, Tracy Ryerson, Rose Garcia, Whitney Mixter and Mikey Koffman.
With a successful career behind the lens in entertainment, I’m often asked why Jill and I chose to put our lives on camera. The answer is simple: Seeing relatable stories and experiences on television can be validating and empowering.
As our narrative in the series was about wedding planning (which was legally unrecognized and unlawful in 2010 in California), we told our story to be seen and heard, to be visible outside of our community, to normalize our love for one another as no different than a traditional union between a man and a woman.

In honor of honor Lesbian Visibility Week, the cast of "The L Word" headed to the White House on April 25 to speak to the press about issues affecting LGBTQ+ people. Stars Leisha Hailey, Jennifer Beals, and Kate Moennig - who play Alice, Bette, and Shane, respectively on the original series and the three-season reboot "The L Word: Generation Q" - were joined by original series creator Ilene Chaiken and the White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. The White House tweeted a stream of their appearance, and Chaiken and Hailey, who are both lesbians, urged queer people and their allies to speak up and continue to fight in the current political climate.
Jean-Pierre, who, Chaiken noted, is the first openly lesbian press secretary, said that "The L Word" and "Gen Q" are "two Showtime series that chronicle the friendship, the love, the challenges, and the triumphs of strong, funny, and resilient queer women.

Ilene Chaiken and cast members of The L Word: Generation Q appeared at the White House daily briefing on Tuesday to speak out on attacks on the Lgbtqi community.
They were at the White House to mark Lesbian Visibility Week.
“We’re delighted that The L Word lives on and speaks to a new generation,” Chaiken told reporters. “But we’re painfully aware that our struggles are far from over. We face new threats against our community, from online harassment to legislative acts of violence to actual physical violence. Astonishing, backward, mean-spirited attacks by groups and individuals who, in trying to deny our humanity, only diminish their own.”
Chaiken is co-creator, writer and executive producer of The L Word. She and the cast members were the latest showbiz figures to get the briefing room platform, following others including the cast of Ted Lasso, Cyndi Lauper and Matthew McConaughey.

Jessica Chastain is sharing her autograph policy. The Oscar winner was recently captured in a viral video turning down signing a copy of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” novel following her performance in Broadway revival of “A Doll’s House” at the Hudson Theatre, outside of which she regularly greets fans.
“I can’t sign that, just because I’m not doing it,” Chastain says to the fan in the video. The “Molly’s Game” star later took to Twitter to explain her reasoning for declining to sign books such as these.
“I’ve been asked multiple times by fans, to sign books that I’m not attached to contractually. Because it feels wrong, and like I’m taking credit for someone else’s work, I’ll say I can’t sign because I’m not doing it,” Chastain wrote. “That doesn’t mean I’ve read a bad script.

Exclusive: The L Word: Generation Q is no longer available on Showtime’s streaming service and the Showtime Anytime app. The removal comes on the heels of the series’ cancellation by the network after three seasons.
While the sequel has been removed, the groundbreaking original L Word series remains on the service. As Deadline reported exclusively last week, a reboot, The L Word: New York (working title), is in development at Showtime with the 2004 series’ creator Ilene Chaiken attached.
The removal of The L Word: Generation Q also follows the purge of a number of short-lived Showtime series from the streaming platform at the end of January as part of Showtime’s integration into Paramount+, which includes the linear network being renamed Paramount+ with Showtime later this year. As part of the changes, the company will “divert investment away from areas that are underperforming” and that accounts for “less than 10% of our views,...
