Film Review: Teenkahon (2014) by Bauddhayan Mukherji
“Teenkahon” is one of the smartest and most sophisticated Bengali films of recent times. This sophistication lies in the story-telling approach which is rare in Bengali films. The three stories of love of different kinds – Nabalok, Post Mortem and Telephone, set in three different periods are brilliantly handled by the director Bauddhayan Mukherji, who paces the movie in such a timely way that it gives the feeling of a single story with three different phases of love in life where the climax reaches and unfolds in an unexpected way in the last story, which is scripted brilliantly by the director himself.

The movie deals with the difficult subject of extramarital affair which starts through the adolescence of “Nabalok” – the protagonist of the first story. The lovely visuals exploit the narration beautiful and kick start the amazing journey of Teenkahon. The second story “Post Mortem” deals with the...

Mutual back-scratching and back-biting go hand in hand in Tollywood: Parambrata Chatterjee
He used to be the blue-eyed boy of almost every urban filmmaker, but seems to have lost the hot seat to some of his contemporaries. Now, after bagging the most coveted copyright in the Bengali film industry, Parambrata Chatterjee is back in business with Feluda. In a freewheeling chat with us, the actor-director-producer spoke about his journey from Topshe to Feluda, the copyright tiff with Sandip Ray and things that he no longer finds interesting in Tollywood. Excerpts: Anukul has released and everybody is praising your work… I was waiting to work with Sujoyda (Ghosh) again. In the five years since Kahaani, we’ve planned so many things — some never happened, some will happen in the coming years. But this came as a sudden opportunity and we pounced on it. Now that it’s receiving so much appreciation, I feel ratified and satisfied to the hilt. In Tollywood, nobody rubs anybody the wrong way.

Yes, the scooter has seen better days. So has John Biswas. There was a time when he knew joy.His grand-daughter Angela who was left to John’s care while his father went abroad. In a merciless twist of fate Angela is kidnapped for ransom and killed.
