This article contains spoilers for the "Ricky and Morty" season 8 finale.
The best thing that could have happened to "Rick and Morty" was for the online hype to die down. Rather than endless hate and arguments, the discourse around the show has become quieter and less amplified. On top of that, these past few years have seen the series survive big changes like the firing of Justin Roiland and Scott Marder coming aboard as showrunner. In spite of all that, "Rick and Morty" has continued to deliver funny, visually inventive, and otherwise great episodes, providing there is still life in the show even after a decade on the air.
Because of the comparatively muted discourse, combined with the general drop-off in media coverage of the show, "Rick and Morty" has been able to focus less on its continuity and more on simply telling hilarious and entertaining standalone stories. At the same time,...

Rick and Mortyco-creator Dan Harmon has offered an update on the series ahead of the series' Season 8 finale. He also shared some of his favorite moments from the show.
"I'm really bad at keeping track these days because we're so on schedule that we're ahead of schedule," Harmon told The Hollywood Reporter when the question came up during San Diego Comic-Con 2025. "I was told last night that at Comic-Con, we will be doing a table read of the two Beths episode [Season 8, Episode 6, "The Curicksous Case of Bethjamin Button"]. My response was very sincerely, 'Maybe I should punch that script up.' And [executive producer] Steve Levy said, 'It already aired on television.' I've become my own Chevy Chase now."
Harmon also hinted at the future of Rick and Morty. Recording of voice work for Season 9 is already underway with writing for some episodes of Season 10 complete. "Definitely very new, very alien," he said about being ahead of schedule.

“Rick and Morty”
Ahead of the Season 8 finale of “Rick and Morty” on Sunday, the cast shared their favorite serious moments from the series.
Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden said the “fear hole” from the Season 7 finale, with Sarah Chalke chiming in about the Season 8 finale as her standout. As the new voices of “Rick and Morty,” Cardoni and Belden opened up about revisiting these characters for a second time in the current season.
“We got to breathe a little bit in between episodes because Season 7 had to be done in about two months,” Cardoni said. “In Season 8, we took most of the year to explore these characters a little more and bring more of ourselves to the role. We’ve just been given these great stories to play with.

"Oh, Hi!" starts off like a rom-com, but also like a horror movie. We meet Iris (Molly Gordon) and her boyfriend Isaac (Logan Lerman) as they spend a nice weekend up in a secluded house out of the city, and during that first day, everything seems suspiciously perfect. Indeed, Iris and Isaac seem to be getting along a little too well, and we know this wouldn't be much of a movie if nothing went wrong.
Finally, the penny drops: While Isaac is handcuffed to a bed post-coitus, he reveals that he's not ready for a relationship. Iris is baffled, because it sure seemed like she and Isaac were already in a relationship. But Isaac doesn't see it this way. Despite inviting her for a weekend getaway upstate and being romantic with her throughout the whole first act, he doesn't see Iris as his girlfriend and has zero interest in letting that happen.

One of the most common tropes in modern television is that of the medical dramedy, and very few can match the success and impact of the USA Network's Scrubs. It is, however, expected that other shows could attempt to replace it in the subconscious of the audience and that is what Fox's upcoming medical comedy, Best Medicine, hopes to achieve. The upcoming show follows a doctor from Boston, who moves to a small practice in an east coast fishing village where he vacationed as a child. According to Variety, the series has added the exciting talent of Cree Chiccino, also known as Cree, to its cast. The Turtles All The Way Down star will play the role of Elaine Denham, a character described as "adorable, energetic, and ambitious, with enormous dreams," who harbors ambitions of becoming a YouTube star.

How does the 118 move on after Bobby's (Peter Krause) devastating death? 9-1-1 viewers will find out when the show returns this fall. ABC has announced that the highly anticipated ninth season of the drama series will premiere on Thursday, October 16, at 8 p.m. on the network. The show maintains the day and airtime that it has occupied since its move to ABC from Fox. The only development is that it won't be the only show in the 9-1-1 universe on ABC for much longer. The same night sees the premiere of 9-1-1: Nashville, a new series inspired by the flagship series. Closing the night at 10 p.m. is an all-new season of the long-running medical drama, Grey's Anatomy.
9-1-1 Season 9 will deal with a lot, but none more important than the aftermath of the death of Captain Bobby Nash. For the first time in the show's history, a main character died.

I grew up in the era of Scream-inspired slasher movies. I’m biased, no doubt, but I consider many of them among my favorite horror movies of all time. They’re horror tea, just hot and cozy and innately comforting and secure. Scream is a classic, of course, but I’m just as fond of Urban Legend, German-riff The Pool, and the arrow-through-the-heart cuteness of Valentine.
I Know What You Did Last Summer is no doubt the most resonant of the post-Scream era. Adapted from the Lois Duncan novel of the same name, I Know What You Did Last Summer was also written by Scream scribe Kevin Williamson, and in a lot of ways, it’s almost like an unofficial Scream sequel, what with the masked killer, meta commentary, and all. And like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer is getting the requel treatment with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson...

Per Variety, the Scrubs revival reboot has officially been given a full series order at ABC, and two original cast members, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke, are set to join fellow original cast member Zach Braff in the new show. News of the straight-to-series order broke today, with the reboot of the quirky hospital comedy aiming for the 2025-26 season.
Original series creator Bill Lawrence emphasized that the Scrubs reboot begins and ends with Jd and Turk, saying, "‘Scrubs’ means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together.” Indeed, the show was never really going to work without at least Faison on board, judging from the new logline which was also just released:
"Jd (Braff) & Turk (Faison) scrub in together for the first time in a long time- medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time.

Kevin James is a henchman trying to quit the mob in the first trailer for Guns Up. The movie marks the actor's return to the action genre after having played neo-Nazi leader Dominick five years earlier in Becky.
As the Guns Up trailer shows, quitting the mob is easier said than done, as James' character's final job goes off the rails. "With the clock ticking, the ex-cop has one night to get his unsuspecting family out of the city before he gets snuffed out," reads the synopsis for the action movie. The trailer features James' Ray Hayes showcasing his lethal skills, which leads to his son questioning whether he's "John Wick," the beloved assassin from the franchise of the same name, played by Keanu Reeves. However, after Ray's wife, Audrey (Christina Ricci), takes care of a few mob men herself, their daughter remarks to her brother that their dad "married John Wick.

So, we're getting a "Scrubs" revival. It's frustrating, because I'm a huge fan of Bill Lawrence's medical comedy that originally ran from 2001 to 2010 on NBC — and, for the last year of its existence in that form, ABC. Led by Zach Braff as Dr. John "J.D." Dorian, the show was funny, shockingly emotional, and surprisingly medically accurate, and its main cast of characters — Donald Faison's cocksure surgeon (and J.D.'s bestie) Dr. Chris Turk, Judy Reyes' tough but big-hearted nurse Carla Espinosa, Sarah Chalke's neurotic but brilliant Dr. Elliot Reid, and the stubborn and often enraged doctor who serves as J.D.'s unwilling mentor, Dr. Perry Cox, played by John C. McGinley — are uniformly excellent.
All of this sounds like it could add up to a promising reboot of the series, but I have my doubts, and it's because of Lawrence's recent comments on the forthcoming...

Bill Lawrence recently offered some insight into the upcoming Scrubsrevival series. According to the creator of the flagship show, real-life changes in the medical field have influenced the new series.
Speaking to TV Line, Lawrence touched on the series' divisive ninth season while confirming that the upcoming Scrubs revival is very much about the original leading duo of Jd and Turk. "I hate the narrative, like, 'Oh, the ninth year sucked.' No, it didn't," he said. "It's sour grapes, whatever, I'm so lucky to have done it. I didn't get to work on [that season] as much, but that writing staff did a great job."
Lawerence went on to praise the actors who joined the series in its ninth season. "I think Kerry Bishé, Michael Mosley, Eliza Coupe and Dave Franco have all gone on to have great careers because they were really good," he explained. "If it had been a...

There’s some terrific news circulating out there for those living with high expectations and anticipation of the hopeful Scrubs reboot. According to TV Line, the project’s executive producer, Bill Lawrence, who created the original series, plans to focus the follow-up on everyone’s favorite hospital buddies — Zach Braff’s Jd and Donald Faison’s Turk. His comments come after addressing the ninth season of the series that started it all, which only included a handful of original cast members, introducing plenty of new faces to the medical team.
Speaking about the pushback all those involved with the show’s final season received and explaining how it informed their decisions when looking forward to the next installment, Lawrence said,

While ABC’s in-the-works Scrubs revival will feature characters both old and new, unlike Season 9, which saw Dr. John Dorian pass the proverbial torch to a new protagonist — Kerry Bishé’s Lucy Bennett — a hypothetical 10th season will be told exclusively from Vanilla Bear’s perspective.
Series mastermind Bill Lawrence revealed as much to me during a recent Zoom, where he reflected on the sitcom’s divisive ninth season and confirmed that the revival is very much about Jd and Bff Turk.

The 2009 sitcom "Cougar Town" was never a massive ratings hit; it was constantly on the verge of cancellation, with ABC pulling the cord after season 3 and TBS picking up and then pulling the cord again in season 6. The show starred Courteney Cox of "Friends" fame as main character Jules, but it never came anywhere close to being the cultural phenomenon that "Friends' was. Still, it was a fun watch that offered a lot of fun cameos for "Friends" fans to enjoy.
For instance, halfway through season 1 Lisa Kudrow shows up as Jules' mean dermatologist. In the season 2 premiere Jennifer Aniston stops by to play Jules' therapist, and this character isn't that nice either. Finally there came Matthew Perry in season 5, who asks Jules out on a date after she crashes into his car; the storyline was extra sweet considering Perry and Cox had played lovers on "Friends" for its final five seasons.

The will-they-or-won’t-they relationship has been around long before sitcoms were even a thing, and though it can prove fruitful comedically, it also has its many pitfalls. If the characters don’t end up together, the audience isn’t satisfied (like The Wonder Years), but if they do end up together, the show loses a big avenue for comedy (like Frasier), and often a dramatic tension. As a result, many sitcoms try to drag out the will-they-or-won’t-they dynamic for as long as possible, which can end up being so tiresome that most viewers are ready for a won’t they.
Here are four shows that tried to keep their will-they-or-won’t-they relationships going way beyond their expiration date…
1 Ross and Rachel on ‘Friends’
Ross’ feelings for Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) are introduced in the very first episode of Friends, but they don’t get together until well into Season Two.

Note: This story contains spoilers from “Rick and Morty” Season 8, Episode 3.
Only three episodes in and “Rick and Morty” has already pulled out the big guns. After last week’s episode, which featured a rare adventure with Space Beth (Sarah Chalke), “The Rick, the Mort and the Ugly” zoomed in on one of the oddest and most beloved parts of this multiverse, the Citadel of Ricks.
“There was probably [writers] room excitement to tag back in and see what’s left of the Citadel. People might think that it’s utterly destroyed. We see that there are survivors from it,” Scott Marder, the showrunner and executive producer of “Rick and Morty,” told TheWrap.

Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon explains how the series avoids falling into bad habits with its South Parkrule.
Per Bleeding Cool, Harmon broke down the ways in which Rick and Morty is influenced by South Park, or rather by the concerted effort that the former's creative team makes to avoid trying to race the latter when it comes to touching upon current events. "We have a South Park rule," Harmon said, "Which is, 'Let's not play a South Park game because South Park can do it faster and better than us.' So it's one thing for the thing you're referring to is like, 'Oh, they're in Squid Games outfits,' so it's a direct reference."
Harmon went on to explain the creative team's conscious efforts to make sure any pop culture references made inRick and Morty have a timeless quality to them that will translate successfully as the years roll on.

Rick and Morty recently returned for its eighth season, and as it stands, the new season currently has the record for the highest-rated of them all. It's also notably seeing a big bump compared to last season's score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Currently, Rick and Morty Season 8 is holding a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. This number may fall as more episodes and reviews are added during the season, but it's nevertheless a tremendous start for Season 8. It's up significantly from Season 7's score of 77%, which is the lowest of the series. Previous seasons had consistently performed strongly with critics. Season 1 has a near-perfect score of 97%, followed by Season 2 at 91%; Season 3 at 96%; Season 4 at 96%; Season 5 at 86%; and Season 6 at 91%.
"Rick and Morty Season 8 continues what the series does best, letting the main characters' exciting dynamic shine with the backdrop of wild adventures," Screen Rant reviewer Felipe Rangel said of the new season.

Another Scrubs castmate just signed up for the revival (before it's even greenlit). Actor Judy Reyes wants to revisit Carla Espinosa, teasing that the possibilities are endless for her after the 15-year hiatus.
Scrubs fans will have to rally for Donald Faison's return, now that his co-star Judy Reyes wants in on the revival series. "Sure! Reyes reprised Carla Espinosa throughout Scrubs' entire run, from 2001 to 2009. The character was the show's emotional anchor, especially during its awkward and difficult moments.
In the series finale, Carla's parting words with J.D. (Braff) revealed her vulnerabilities. On his last day at Sacred Heart, J.D. asked Carla if there was anything he could do to repay her kindness. She said she wanted to know:...

Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty” is back for Season 8, and the nearly year-and-a-half break has resulted in a burst of creative energy for a show that, at its best, can only be loosely described as a sci-fi sitcom. Creators Scott Marder and Dan Harmon have returned to the core Smith family dynamics (partly inspired by “Succession”), now severely impacted by Rick (Ian Cardoni) and Morty’s (Harry Belden) rippled universe mayhem. Season 8 offers up some provocative existential problems, along with eye-popping world-building, and even more imaginative body horror. At the same time, there are a few callbacks to feed the fanbase.
Here are some early highlights: In Episode 1 (“Summer of All Fears”), Morty and older sister Summer (Spencer Grammer) return from being prisoners inside a simulated “Matrix” as punishment for not returning Rick’s phone charger. Summer became a ruthless tech firm leader while Morty suffered Ptsd from going to war.

Fans have been clamoring for a follow-up or reboot of the popular medical comedy Scrubs, and that became a reality when it was announced a few months ago that creator Bill Lawrence was on board to make that happen. At the time, the stars of the original series were said to be in talks to return, but now word has come that someone very important to the original cast of characters is officially returning: J.D. himself.

Original star Zach Braff joins the cast of Scrubs reboot, we hear. More on the show’s plans below.
We reported last December that Scrubs, one of the funniest medical shows of the noughties, is due a reboot. Original creator Bill Lawrence, who went on to also create the critically acclaimed AppleTV+ series Shrinking and Ted Lasso, is on board to bring the sit-com back on our screens.
The project seems to be steadily moving on and it’s now being reported that Zach Braff is returning to Sacred Heart Hospital as Doctor John Michael Dorian, or Jd.
Deadline reports that Braff’s casting didn’t happen easily as the negotiations went on for months. Braff reportedly wanted to film the series in Los Angeles rather than Vancouver and there seems to have been issues regarding pay as well. The long-gestating Scrubsreboot has just taken a major step forward, with original star Zach Braff now officially set to return as John “J.D.” Dorian. Speculation about a possible reboot or series continuation of the hit medical comedy had been rife for years before official confirmation that the project was in development at ABC in December 2024. While original series creator Bill Lawrence would later confirm that a writer’s room was being assembled in February this year, there was still no official confirmation of which original Scrubs cast members would be returning.

The series is in development at ABC from 20th Television. Now that the deal with Braff has closed, the studio is expected to start approaching the other original cast members, including Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes.

A new Scrubs universe series is currently in the works at ABC, as has been previously reported. The latest update on the project should be very exciting for fans of the original, as one of the main stars of the original Scrubs is set to make his return.
Per THR, it's been announced that Zach Braff is officially returning in ABC's upcoming Scrubs reboot. Braff will reprise his role as Dr. John Dorian, aka. J.D., one of the main characters from the Og series. The update follows the reports that Scrubs was getting an update back in December, though series creator Bill Lawrence and some of the show's cast members have long been teasing their desire to revisit the show. As of now, ABC and 20th Television have not offered an official comment on the casting.
One hurdle that stood in the way of the new series moving forward was Lawrence's busy schedule.

J.D. is back in the building for the Scrubs reboot. After years of discussing a way to resuscitate the medical sitcom with creator Bill Lawrence, original series star Zach Braff has signed on to reprise his role as the iconic physician and self-described sensitive guy, bringing the show's return one step closer to reality. Development on the reboot officially got underway back in December, and optimism about a comeback at ABC has only grown since then, with Disney TV chief Eric Schrierhighlighting the "creative desire" of all involved as a big motivator. With Braff officially back in the fold, it may open the door for more original cast members to get their scrubs back on and join in the fun.
That Braff is reuniting with Lawrence isn't necessarily surprising. Braff has been vocal over the years about where he imagines J.D.'s story would go after the series concluded...

Dr. John Dorian is back on call: Zach Braff has signed on for the Scrubs update that’s in development at ABC.
Braff will reprise his role from the 2001-10 series as John, aka J.D., the narrator and central character for most of the show’s first run. ABC confirmed it was developing a Scrubs reboot in December, after creator Bill Lawrence, Braff and other members of the cast had for years said they’d like to reunite.
ABC and 20th Television, which is producing the reboot, declined to comment.
“We’re gonna do it, you guys know,” Lawrence said during a Scrubs reunion panel at the Atx TV Festival in 2022. “If you ever have an excuse to work with people you want to spend time with anyway, run to it.”
Despite the willingness of those involved, the path to the ABC project wasn’t a straightforward one. Lawrence currently...

Zach Braff is heading back to where it all started: “Scrubs.”
Braff, who starred in the original “Scrubs” series from 2001-2010, has joined the cast of the reboot show, which is currently in development at ABC, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.
The news comes months after news broke in December that a follow-up of the hit medical comedy is early development at 20th Television for ABC. “Scrubs” executive producer Bill Lawrence is attached to EP the new series, but he won’t be returning as showrunner as he balances his other series, including Warner Bros. TV’s and Apple TV+’s “Shrinking,” “Ted Lasso” and “Bad Monkey.”
With Braff, who led the cast as Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian, confirmed for the reboot, it can be expected that the new series will look towards casting the series’ additional stars, including Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley and Judy Reyes.
