'Mission: Impossible 2' Is the Only Time Tom Cruise Had This Box Office Win
Image
Silver screen staple Tom Cruise is one of Hollywood's most entertaining leading men and a certified action superstar, with an illustrious career spanning four decades and countless big screen knockouts. In 1996, he proved himself to be one of the industry's most fearless and devoted actors when he began portraying super spy Ethan Craft in the blockbuster Mission: Impossible franchise, dazzling audiences with his gravity-defying stunts and commitment to his craft.

2000's Mission: Impossible II proved to be a major triumph for Cruise, as the electrifying sequel dominated the box office and its competition and became the highest-grossing movie of the year, raking in more than $546 million and further cementing Cruise's status as the cinema's biggest daredevil. Though Cruise would go on to star in a slew of hits like Collateral, War of the Worlds, and Top Gun: Maverick, the celebrated performer has been unable to achieve the same feat he...

‘Kung Fu’: Ben Levin & Kim Rhodes Join Season 3 Of CW Series As Recurring

Rhodes will portray Carrie, a blunt, funny professional who works as a representative for a large restaurant investment group. When Carrie’s company takes an interest in Harmony Dumplings, Mei-Li (Kheng Hua Tan) is quick to decline their overtures, but when an unexpected friendship blooms between her and Carrie, Mei-Li opens herself up to a possible alliance.

‘Kung Fu’ Season 2: Nicky Battles Her Long-Lost Cousin In First Trailer (Video)
Image
The CW‘s martial arts action-adventure series Kung Fu is set to return on March 9, and the first trailer teases an intense family showdown. “Nicky Shen doesn’t know it yet; there’s a girl out there, her cousin. She is the key to everything,” reveals crime boss Russell Tan (Kee Chan) in the new teaser (watch below). We then see Nicky (Olivia Liang) fighting with her long-lost cousin Mia (Vanessa Rao) as Tan continues his take over of the city of San Francisco. However, while the cousins might start out as enemies, the trailer also hints that the two badass women could eventually join forces. “Who are you?” Mia asks at the end of the clip. “I’m family,” Nicky replies. Developed by Christina M. Kim, Kung Fu is a reboot of the popular 1970s series of the same name and follows Nicky, a young Chinese American woman who...

Guy Maddin at an event for The Saddest Music in the World (2003)
‘The Twentieth Century’: Film Review
Guy Maddin at an event for The Saddest Music in the World (2003)
With his perverse (and some might say perverted) look at the early life of Canada’s longest-serving Prime Minister W. L. Mackenzie King, Winnipeg-born, Montreal-based multi-hyphenate Matthew Rankin proves himself far more than simply the artistic heir to fellow Canuck Guy Maddin. His low-budget, high-concept recounting of political life in the Dominion of Canada circa the turn of the 20th century is both satiric and scurrilous; the more familiar one is with Canadian history, the funnier it is. But even without prior knowledge of our neighbor to the north, it can be enjoyed for its combination of supreme creativity, jaw-dropping audacity and amusing tongue-in-cheek dialogue. Following its world premiere at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival, it was named best Canadian first feature and acquired by U.S. distributor Oscilloscope, which will release it in May.

Like Maddin, Rankin ransacks film, theater and art history for his visual style. Here, he creates...
