Linus Corragio: Motorcyles, Mayhem, and Madness
On occasion Linus Corragio resorts to commercial mores, such as with his motorcycle, "chopper," motif, and with his forgivably money making furniture. But, on the whole, he has an absolutely intuitive natural talent for design and composition as well as an artisan's tactile sense for material applied with abstract expressionist fluidity.

Corragio has taken the precedent set forth by Picasso’s famous “Bull’s Head,” from 1942, made simply with the seat and handlebars of a bicycle, to an entirely unique and mature stylistic format, sometimes referential; at times wholly abstract. Yet, one cannot truly attribute Picasso -- this is Corragio's own thing. Akin to punk or grunge rock, this is junk sculpture.

His most recent solo exhibition took place at the Elena Ab gallery in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, May 16 - June 30, 2015. The walls were replete with prints and paintings relating to his 3-D works which came close to overloading the gallery,...

Currents In Photography
Currents In Photography comprises five adventurous artists in a thematic exhibition that explores the boundaries of photography; what a camera can do, or perhaps what the word photography even means. How far can one step outside of the box and still be in it? I needed to ask if Kaethe Kauffman's work was part of the exhibition, thoroughly confused as to whether it was a photograph at all. The work looks like collaged charcoal drawing on paper. Turns out charcoal drawing is employed along with several other techniques, photographed and reproduced by an inkjet printer, then worked back into again. The resulting mystical images are neither directly figurative nor abstract. Those leaning more towards abstraction still appear to be some thing -- perhaps visions experienced by the meditating figure pictured in the other works. His or her corporeal form is seated Buddha style surrounded by a shattered aura that bursts into monochromatic fragmentation.

"Supernatural" Recap: "Avengers Initiative: Kansas Edition"
Avengers Initiative: Kansas edition a.k.a. The Wannabe Hunters

We open with a pair of adolescents making out in a car, on a deserted road in Conway Springs, Kansas. Turns out, the girl is Krissy Chambers, the obnoxious teen who “helped” Dean take down a couple of Vetalas, a while back.

A few minutes later, a blue van pulls up near the car, and we get the stereotypical “who’s there?” moment when a random shadow passes by the car a few times. At first the boyfriend, Aiden, tries to start the car, but as I said, “typical moment”... and the car won’t start. The boyfriend waits a couple of heartbeats, then makes a run for it, leaving her pleading ass behind.

The shadow, a young man, breaks the passenger side window and grabs her, yanking her out of the opening... And just as I’m about to...

Top 10 Twilight Zone twists
Before I began writing for Shadowlocked in early 2010, I used to jot my media-related thoughts down on a humble little personal blog of mine. Though the blog itself will remain nameless, as such self-promotion would be unseemly, I can say that two articles contained within were far and away the most popular and most read pieces. Both were lists on The Twilight Zone. I have wanted to revisit the Zone for some time and various ideas have ever simmered on the back burner while I have written for Shadowlocked. Happily, it would seem that I've managed to stumble into that vaunted Fifth Dimension once again.

Something about the little sci-fi show that could has held a special place in the hearts of countless fans of classic TV, suspense, and the supernatural for decades. Rod Serling's incredible creation could terrify, amuse, and titillate, but perhaps was on the top of...
