‘McLeod’s Daughters’ (Photo credit: Millennium Pictures).
Posie Graeme-Evans, co-creator of the Nine Network drama McLeod’s Daughters, is working on a feature film spin-off with producer Sue Clothier and screenwriter Emma Jensen.
Screen Tasmania is funding the early development of McLeods of Drovers Run, scripted by Jensen and produced by Graeme-Evans and Clothier.
Based on an origin story by Graeme-Evans, the plot sees tragic, unfinished business that begins in 1850s Scotland at the ancestral home of the McLeods return to haunt the present day family.
The logline reads: “In the end, family is all we have when the past will not die. That’s a good thing. Right?”
Graeme-Evans is convinced there is still a huge appetite for the McLeod’s franchise. Currently screening on Stan, the series won the Meaa’s The Great Australian Binge vote for Australia’s most favourite show.

Tagline: "They come from the darkness." There are a number of haunted houses in horror films, of late. Out of the Shadows, from Bronte Pictures, was shot in Australia. It has already been released in this country. In the film, a pregnant woman moves into her dream home. But, a stranger is living just down the hall. Now, Kat (Kendal Rae) must uncover this shade's past, or lose herself to insanity. As well, the film stars: Goran D. Kleut (Alien: Covenant), Lisa Chappell and Jake Ryan. A trailer for the film was released in October. Now, the film's official artwork is hosted here, for fans of haunted house thrillers. It is hard not to think of Terror Film's The House on Pine Street (2016), when watching the trailer for Out of the Shadows. Both films deal with a very pregnant woman and a strange haunting. Also, both films have haunted cribs...

The new Australian thriller Coffin Rock, from producer David Lightfoot (whose credits include Wolf Creek and Rogue) and his Ultrafilm company, was deep into postproduction when Fango got a word in with ultra-busy Ayisha Davies. Having served as 2nd unit production manager on Rogue and produced several shorts (including one called The Bloody Sweet Hit), Davies is excited to talk up Coffin Rock, her first feature as producer.
Starring Lisa Chappell (seen in several episodes of Hercules: The Legendary Journies), Robert (Storm Warning) Taylor and Sam Parsonson, Coffin Rock is about “a married woman who’s so desperate for a child that she sleeps with a stranger in a drunken mistake,” Davies tells Fango. “The young stranger’s claims to paternity then turn out to be quite deadly.”
Davies goes on to describe Coffin Rock, which is also the feature debut of its writer/director Rupert Glasson, as “a kind...
