Pete Davidson got real about one of the dumbest things he’s ever inked on his body—a tattoo inspired by Dave Chappelle that he now calls “so humiliating.”
While chowing down on spicy wings during a recent stop on Hot Ones, Pete told host Sean Evans about a wild moment from his early stand-up days.
He was around 19 or 20, doing a set, when he spotted Chappelle in the crowd. That alone made his brain short-circuit.
“This was before (Dave) was back, so seeing him was like crazy, going ‘What the f**k?'” Pete said, still sounding kinda shook. After the set,
Chappelle gave him props and some advice that Pete clearly took way too literally.
“He goes, ‘Jokes come and go, but swag is forever.’ And guess who got that tattooed on his chest?” Spoiler alert: it was Pete.
Looking back, he’s not proud of it.

Ghostface Killah has announced the long-awaited sequel to his 2000 classic, Supreme Clientele, with the album slated to arrive Aug. 22 via Mass Appeal.
The Supreme Clientele 2 announcement was accompanied by the release of a first single, “Rap Kingpin,” which features some characteristically dense, over-the-top, and reference-stuffed Ghostface bars (e.g. “Ghost is global, classic, soulful/Teddy Pendergrass on wax with the nasty vocals”). The track also incorporates samples of Eric B & and Rakim’s “My Melody” and Ghostface’s own “Mighty Healthy,” a highlight off the original Supreme Clientele.

If you can’t recall ever seeing Pete Davidson’s tattoo inspired by Dave Chappelle, no one would blame you. First, before Davidson began the torturously painful process of undoing the coloring book he’d made of his body, he sported about 200 tattoos, including one of Hillary Clinton. That makes finding the Chappelle ink a little bit like playing “Where’s Waldo?”
Second, the tattoo wasn’t a picture of Chappelle. Instead, it was a bit of advice that Chappelle gave Davidson when he was just starting out as a stand-up. “I’ve never admitted this because it’s so humiliating,” Davidson told Sean Evans on this week’s edition of Hot Ones. “But when I was like 20 at a comedy club, it might have been the Knitting Factory when Hannibal Buress used to run it, I did a set. I was like 19 or 20.”
While performing, Davidson noticed Chappelle watching from the back corner.

Pete Davidson is detailing his experience on indie film sets…and he’s not totally a fan. The “SNL” alum said during “Hot Ones” in the below video that “there’s not anything glamorous” about starring in independent films.
He recently appeared in TIFF 2024 indie crime comedy “Riff Raff” alongside Jennifer Coolidge, Ed Harris, Gabrielle Union, Lewis Pullman, Michael Angelo Corvino, and Davidson’s own personal icon, Bill Murray. Davidson and Murray played two gangsters who are hunting down an ex-criminal family over the holidays. Yet despite the star-studded cast, “Riff Raff” wasn’t a “comfortable” experience.
“The movie we did — it’s a tough one because it’s an indie, so there’s no budget and there’s not anything glamorous about it,” Davidson said. “No one makes money, no one’s comfortable, it’s strictly like for the art.”
Adding of working with Murray, Davidson said, “But yeah,...

Pete Davidson is revealing the details of the “humiliating” tattoo he had covered up.
The 31-year-old actor and comedian has been undergoing the process to remove all of his tattoos since 2020, but there’s one that he wanted to hide long before he started going under the laser.
Pete made his second appearance on First We Feast’s Hot Ones series and shared the tattoo that was so “humiliating” he covered it up.
Keep reading to find out more…
Pete shared on the episode that when he was “19 or 20,” he did a comedy set with Dave Chappelle in the audience. He explained that Dave complimenting him after his stand-up routine was finished that inspired him to get a tattoo across his chest.

Pete Davidson admitted that in his quest to remove all of the tattoos on his body, he had already covered up his most humiliating one, and it was a quote from his idol and fellow comedian Dave Chappelle.
While promoting his new films “The Home” and “The Pickup,” Pete Davidson went on “Hot Ones” Monday for the second time in his career. Toward the end of the show, host Sean Evans asked Davidson which of his many tattoos were the most painful to put on and take off.
Davidson, who previously had around 200 tattoos, shared that, even before starting the removal process, he’d already covered up his most embarrassing ink with an image from “Jaws.”

British comic and podcast host Nish Kumar knows the value of Netflix specials for A-listers like Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle.
But he sees emerging comedians like himself with slow-burn careers often getting their biggest boost globally from YouTube after years playing clubs big and small back home. “I’m primarily known in North America because of a British show called Taskmaster, which people outside the U.K. watch on YouTube,” Kumar told The Hollywood Reporter while performing at the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal.
Reruns of Taskmaster, a British comedy panel game show that included Kumar, have been viewed on YouTube as creator-driven online platforms increasingly disrupt the traditional media landscape, and podcasts like Crooked Media’s Pod Save the UK, which Kumar co-hosts with cultural journalist Coco Khan, transform the audio space.

Stephen Colbert makes me laugh so hard, sometimes it pisses me off. I loved him on Exit 57 and Strangers With Candy, but it was in 1997 — when I was the co-creator and head writer of The Daily Show — that I saw him do what I love most: roast the media while being the media.
He had a gig then at Good Morning America, and had produced a puff piece with just the right amount of satirical self-importance that felt perfect for The Daily Show. I immediately went to my then-colleague...

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Truth The job of the stand-up, it seems, is that of a surgeon. They dissect, examine, and expose the faults, flaws, and foibles of the public, the powerful, and themselves. In 1960, a Life critic observed this about Nichols and May’s humor: “They hold the human race on a pin and make it laugh at itself while it squirms.” That legacy carried forward- through George Carlin’s blistering social commentary and Richard Pryor’s raw, autobiographical confessions. We’ve since crowned the comedian as the modern philosopher. But even that idea- noble as it sounds- has been dismantled by comedians themselves. Norm Macdonald, never known for intellectual posturing, worked more in the tradition of Bob Hope: clear-cut, joke-first, unpretentious. However, in what was sadly his final Netflix special, Macdonald deadpanned, “[The public] expect [comedians] to know things nowadays.” And when “they say comedians are the modern-day philosophers.

Four Emmys. Three Oscars. Two Grammys. One-half of a legendary songwriting team who made an enduring impact on the soundtrack of Hollywood.
Alan Bergman — whose collaboration with wife Marilyn resulted in dozens of indelible songs performed from everyone from Frank Sinatra to Barbra Streisand to Michael Jackson, and soundtracked everything from In the Heat of the Night to Severance — died Thursday at the age of 99. (Marilyn died in 2002.)
The Bergmans formed a formidable lyric-writing duo, teaming with several of the greatest composers of the 20th century, including Quincy Jones, John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini, and Marvin Hamlisch.
They received the Trustees Award from the Grammys in 2013 and were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1980; the couple also received the organization’s highest honor, the Johnny Mercer Award, in 1997.
Here are 10 must-hear classics from their award-worthy songbook.

Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias had the top-performing comedy special on Netflix in the first half of 2025, per new data released by the streamer.
The news comes in sifting through the latest edition of Netflix’s biannual “What We Watched” report, unveiled on Thursday, which looked at streaming engagement on the platform from January through June.
Iglesias’ Gabriel Iglesias: Legend of Fluffy ranked 210th on the overall list of highest-viewed TV program during that window, with 7.8 million views since its January 6th debut.
Second on the list is 2024’s top-grossing touring comedian Nate Bargatze, who was ranked 275th with 6.7 million views for Your Friend, Nate Bargatze. His ranking was naturally affected by the fact that the special dropped on December 24, 2024, so the first days of viewership were folded into the report for the back half of 2024.

“Saturday Night Live” celebrated its 50th anniversary by setting a new record for Emmy nominations, a landmark that was never really in doubt.
The long-running comedy series went into this year’s nominations already holding the record as the most nominated program in Primetime Emmy Awards history, with its 341 total nominations far surpassing second place show “Game of Thrones.” It added an additional 31 noms on Tuesday, giving it a new record total of 372.
“SNL” also topped its previous record of 22 nominations in 2017. This haul comes after a relative slump that faced in the comedy variety show in the early 2020s.
“SNL’s” 31 nods consist of nominations across their various ventures and specials in the show’s 50th anniversary season. Entries like “SNL50: The Anniversary Special” and “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” were recognized in various categories like Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special.

When comedian Nate Bargatze started his career, he dreamed of one day selling out Bridgestone Arena in his hometown of Nashville.
“Not that I even knew it would happen,” he says. “But it would be a daydream to keep you going through the not-fun times.”
It wasn’t a short journey to the top. It took Bargatze more than 20 years of work at his craft, comprising thousands of performances, to achieve his goal of reaching stand-up’s upper echelons. But in April 2023, after making his way up from clubs to theaters to arenas, he got there, setting an attendance record in front of a crowd of 19,365.
A dreamer from the start, Bargatze realized in this moment that he could dream far bigger than he ever had before, wielding his influence to conquer new areas far flung from the stage, while sticking to his core ethos of bringing others along for the ride.

When Last Week Tonight With John Oliver switched Emmy categories from Variety Talk Series to Scripted Variety Series, it put an end to Saturday Night Live's six-year winning streak. Last Week Tonight, which has claimed nine consecutive program trophies, is now hoping to take home No. 10 this year. But SNL's milestone 50th season should prove to be a worthy competitor.
First things first: there are six submissions this year for Best Scripted Variety Series, which means there will only be two nominees. Television Academy members who vote on this category are instructed to watch an episode of each contender (a requirement that is not present in the other program races), and then vote "yes" or "no" for whether they think each one is worthy of a nomination. The two entries that receive the highest amount of support will receive bids, as long as they are both over 70 percent approval,...

It’s been decades since Julia Sweeney was in the zeitgeist thanks to “It’s Pat,” her series of popular Saturday Night Live sketches in which she played Pat, an androgynous, awkward individual who confuses coworkers and passersby: Is Pat a man or a woman? Pat would never say, each answer only further clouding the issue.
Sweeney developed the Pat character during her time with the Groundlings, and she brought them to SNL, where she worked from 1990 to 1994. In August of 1994, a full-length It’s Pat movie hit theaters, receiving terrible reviews and tanking at the box office, effectively killing the character in the culture. Sweeney went on to do a series of superb monologues in the late 1990s and 2000s, including God Said Ha! and Letting Go of God, while Pat drifted out of the collective consciousness. But that started to change in the late 2010s once queer and trans...

With Sean Combs’ sex trafficking and racketeering trial entering its sixth week, much of the closely guarded case is now public record. Jurors have sat through days of highly emotional testimony from the two principal alleged victims, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and a recent ex-girlfriend testifying under the pseudonym “Jane.”
In disturbing detail, the women described Combs feeding them drugs and stage-directing them through days-long sexual marathons with male escorts. The women said Combs threatened to release their intimate videos or yank financial support if they resisted.

It’s saying something that people Still talk about Scandal years after the series closed the chapter on Olivia Pope and company.
When the series premiered, it featured some recognizable faces. Still, several actors weren’t immediately familiar to audiences, yet became big stars during the series’ primetime reign.
Now that the series has been over for seven years (!), we decided to take a look to see what the cast has been up to lately.
(ABC/Screenshot)
For some, their work has stayed in front of the camera, but several cast members have also done a lot of work behind the camera.
Star Kerry Washington has been involved in numerous projects as her career continues to rise, reaching new heights during the Scandal era.

Netflix has officially renewed the Emmy-winning talk show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, for two additional seasons, with Season 6 set to premiere later this year. The renewal news comes after the show’s critically acclaimed fifth season and its 2024 Emmy win for Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special. The series, which originally launched in 2018 with President Barack Obama as its first guest — it's a surprise it didn't only go downhill from there, if we're honest — has since evolved into one of the most acclaimed interview shows on streaming.
In a format far removed from the nightly grind of Letterman’s Late Show reign, each episode of My Next Guest dives deep into the personal and professional lives of high-profile guests — one at a time, and often on location. So far, the show has featured 27 episodes across five seasons with guests ranging from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Robert Downey Jr.,...

When George Carlin hosted the first-ever Saturday Night Live, he made Lorne Michaels livid when he went rogue doing a comedy monologue. During the live show, Carlin swapped out a stand-up bit from his new album for the one he’d performed during rehearsals. “That fucker,” growled Michaels from the control room. It wasn’t that Michaels preferred the original set of jokes — he was worried that Carlin’s unrehearsed routine could go long (or short), screwing up the show’s timing.
So it was mind-boggling to learn that Michaels gives free rein to Dave Chappelle when he hosts SNL — at least when it comes to the comedian’s monologue. “As a tradition, I never do my actual monologue in rehearsal,” Chappelle told fellow comic Mo Amer during a conversation for Variety. “To Lorne Michaels’ credit, he never knows what I’m going to say.”

Latin lover Domingo grabbed the top of YouTube’s SNL charts in October and never let go. According to LateNighter, the ubiquitous Marcello Hernández/Ariana Grande sketch became the year’s most-watched within a week of its debut and stayed there for the rest of the season, ultimately piling up 19.1 million views so far.
The only other sketch to come close was Mike Myers’ first appearance as a rabid Elon Musk, with more than 17 million watches on YouTube. Both Domingo and Musk showed up in additional top 10 sketches from the season.
Predictably in an election year, political sketches dominated, with Trump-centric cold opens making up half of the top 10. And with all of the attention on Saturday Night Live’s 50th season, the show’s YouTube channel views mirrored the show’s climbing ratings, with eight sketches reaching the 10-million view mark. Dave Chappelle and Mo Amer became close during the pandemic, when Chappelle managed to secure a Covid testing machine and created a bubble at his Ohio home to bring in comedians to perform. Amer was one of them. “We spent all the summer of 2020 together doing shows,” Chappelle says. “The best comedians in the world flew into Ohio, and we had a blast.”
Those early comedy shows were held in a cornfield, while the comedians were tested every day. But beyond that, Amer was mostly holed up in his Airbnb as he started writing Season 1 of “Mo,” his critically acclaimed Netflix series, which wrapped this year after two seasons.
“It was so nerve-racking because everything was so unsettling,” Amer recalls. “It was Covid; it was civil unrest; it was my own personal stuff. And every one of my writers was juggling things emotionally. It was really overwhelming. But you really saved my life.

“Saturday Night Live” concluded its 50th season last month as the highest-rated entertainment series on broadcast television among Adults 18-49 and was also the most watched comedy across broadcast and cable for the sixth consecutive season, according to ratings data released by Nielsen on Monday.
Factoring in Live+7 across all platforms, the late night sketch show averaged 8.1 million viewers during the 2024-2025 television season, up +12% vs. Season 49 and marked the show’s best numbers since Season 47 (2021-2022).

Another Roots Picnic is in the books. For two days, thousands of music lovers descended upon Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park to check out a wide array of acts, from R&b and pop stars such as Maxwell, Miguel, and Tems to rappers like Meek Mill, GloRilla, Latto, and everything in between. Though the rain on May 31 threw a massive monkey wrench into the festivities, drawing an apology from Questlove to fans, things got better on June 1 (for the most part). Here are seven of the biggest takeaways from the weekend.

Funnyman Eddie Murphy has been appearing in feature films since the early 1980s, and fans will have their own favorites for what might stand out as the most memorable. The actor and comedian himself can also name which film perhaps defines his career more so than any other.
Murphy recently appeared as a guest on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where he was joined by Keke Palmer. On the show, Hudson brought up how Deadpool & Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds said Eddie Murphy should have won an Oscar for The Nutty Professor, given how he played several different characters in the comedy. Murphy went on to share how much he loves that some people don't even realize just how many different roles he had in the film, calling it his "favorite thing." He then shared how he considers The Nutty Professor to be his career-defining role.

Dever has yet to win an Emmy Award, while O'Hara is a two-time champion for starring on Schitt's Creek (2020) and for writing Sctv Network (1982).

The Studio is overflowing with A-list guest stars, most of whom play versions of themselves, but it's someone who isn't doing that who's out in front for Emmy gold.
Bryan Cranston is in first place in Gold Derby's early Best Comedy Guest Actor odds. The six-time Emmy winner plays Continental CEO Griffin Mill and is one of The Studio's few guest stars to portray fictional characters. After appearing in the pilot, Griffin returns with a vengeance in the final two episodes of the first season, taking so many shrooms that he goes Mia and puts the studio's CinemaCon presentation in jeopardy.
If he prevails, this would be Cranston's fifth Emmy for acting — he has four Best Drama Actor trophies for Breaking Bad and two for producing the two-time Best Drama Series champ — putting him one step closer to the all-time acting record of eight wins, held by Cloris Leachman and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Saturday Night Live is one of the most challenging feats in show business, writing a 90-minute show from scratch in less than a week, then performing live in front of an audience of millions. But you know what’s even harder? Pulling off a segment of the video podcast Kill Tony, at least according to its host and namesake, Tony Hinchcliffe.
For the uninitiated, Kill Tony features Hinchcliffe drawing the names of aspiring comedians out of a bucket, who then perform one minute of stand-up for a panel of comics and a live audience. A few of the comics kill. Several of them die painful comedy deaths.
At least Lorne Michaels and “SNL has its own writers and producers and everything,” Hinchcliffe told Dana Carvey and David Spade on the Fly on the Wall podcast. “A bunch of people clank their heads together.”
“To help make a star,” added Spade.

David Fincher doesn’t just direct—he dissects. Whether he’s jumping deep into the twisted world of serial killers or getting into the minds of social media moguls, his work always feels precise. You will find his works are chilly, and somehow very hypnotic. So when rumors started swirling that the genius behind movies like Se7en and Fight Club might be working on a Squid Game spin-off, fans couldn’t help but lose their minds with excitement.
Squid Game, the South Korean juggernaut of a show, took the streaming world by storm back in 2021. Between its green or pink tracksuits, unnerving masked guards, and twisted takes on childhood games, it became a cultural obsession overnight. The show didn’t just climb the Netflix charts—it devoured them. With its haunting take on capitalism, desperation, and the raw will to survive, it touched a global nerve. And now that...

Do you want more talent shows? Of course, you do. People would not keep making new ones if we didn't want them. In the case of Netflix, though, the streaming giant is bringing back a familiar one. And not just old episodes, but a complete remake.
Netflix announced that it will bring back Star Search, a show that ran in the 1980s and 1990s, but hasn't produced new shows in 20 years. Ed McMahon once hosted, but won't be the host for various reasons now. (McMahon died in 2009 after a long and fruitful career.)
Like the original, the series will be live, and viewers can vote on who they think should win. The show's previous edition had people call in, but a computer click or text might suffice with today's technology. Netflix has yet to tell us how the votes can be cast.

The jury is nearly in place for Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal criminal trial after a colorful selection process but the prosecution’s case against the rap mogul may have been dealt a blow as the feds admitted that one of the four key witnesses set to testify in the New York federal trial may not turn up to take the witness stand.
On Friday, the prosecution and defense teams will have an opportunity to question potential jurors in a second round of probing of their background, any experiences with violence and their ability to weigh evidence around sexual assault and abuse while remaining unbiased and impartial. Combs was charged in a five-count indictment of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. Elon Musk claims that “comedy is legal now” thanks to his takeover of both Twitter the U.S. government, so I guess that the courts will categorize his latest attempt to be likable as a mere crime against humanity.
In the craft of comedy writing, traditional wisdom dictates that it is best not to add unnecessary elements on top of a joke’s central idea that will overcrowd the bit and make it land flat. Considering that the Doge don is, himself, an unnecessary element who foisted himself atop the human race, it comes as no surprise that Musk will gleefully break the “Don’t put a hat on a hat” rule with the same shit-eating grin that he wears whenever he violates federal law in order to take away some retiree’s Social Security benefits or fire an entire team of nuclear safety inspectors.

Quinta Brunson is multitasking.
In the first promo for her Saturday Night Live hosting stint this weekend, the Abbott Elementary star and creator goes through concepts for skits with an idea not just to be funny, but also to help stockpile stuff against the Trump tariffs.
“What if we did sketches centered around items affected by the tariffs?” she asks. “Then we can keep the items after the show.”
Enter Heidi Gardner dressed like a pageant queen, but with a gown made entirely from toilet paper. Gardner has questions about the situation.
“It could be your new original character,” Brunson suggests. “You even have a catchphrase.”
Gardner responds gamely with, “If there’s pee, it should be on me”
