'The Voice' Recap: Coaches Steal Back Rejected Contestants
Adam Levine at an event for The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (2011)
Yoink! The second and final night of the knockout rounds on The Voice found both Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera stealing back people who were stolen from them. Yup, you heard right.

Just a baby step away from the live rounds (which start next week), the coaches continued to cut their teams in half by pairing off teammates to perform against one another, choosing one to stay and one to go.

Rolling Stone's Complete Coverage of 'The Voice'

But in a new twist this season, each coach got...

‘The Voice’ Recap: Will Champlin Switches Teams During Knockouts
It was an epic battle between Matthew Schuler & Will Champlin during the final night of knockout rounds Oct. 29, but they weren’t the only ones fighting to stay on stage!

As The Voice‘s remaining 16 artists put it all on the line, the coaches continued to cut down their teams, eventually left with the final five they’ll take to the live rounds. Read on to see who will be facing off next week!

Team Adam: Lina Gaudenzi vs. Preston Pohl

With this match-up, Adam Levine was looking for the most unique artist. Lina Gaudenzi gave a very soulful performance of “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James, and Preston Pohl sang “No Woman, No Cry” by Bob Marley. Even though his was a laid back song that kind of lulled the crowd, Preston won Adam’s vote. Adam said Preston has his own niche, while unfortunately, “there...

The Voice Recap: Stealing Home [Updated]
Christina Aguilera
I could kick off this recap of The Voice‘s final set of Knockout Rounds complaining about Carson Daly’s “coming up on…” teases — and how they snuff out suspense like a fire hose pointed at a toddler’s birthday candles. But no — this time around I’m gonna focus on the positives:

* We were treated to four or five performances during the two-hour telecast that were promising enough to signal a potential Season 5 champ.

* While at least one terrific prospect walked the guillotine, the two remaining Steals were used in ways that did not leave me blind with rage.

'The Voice' recap: Season 5's Top 20 is set as the Knockout Rounds come to a close
Welcome back, "Voice" fans! It's Night 2 of the Knockout Rounds, with coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, CeeLo Green and Blake Shelton continuing to chop their teams in half to determine the Top 20 artists who will move onto Season 5's live shows, beginning next week. Did the right singers advance? Let's find out!

Knockout #1: Team Adam's Lina Gaudenzi vs. Preston Pohl

Lina Gaudenzi: "I'd Rather Go Blind" (Etta James)

Lina chooses the Etta James track because she wants to show off the more soulful side to her voice, but she seems to struggle with the finding the intensity the song demands. Adam tells her she's dancing around the song, rather than just singing it. During her performance, she certainly has the audience on her side. She may rely on her vibrato a bit too much, but it's still a high-energy performance that finds her improving on Adam's notes.

Preston Pohl: "No Woman,...

The Voice: Battle Rounds End With the Best Duets of the Season
The Voice (2011)
The Voice's battle rounds wrapped up Tuesday night with a trio of commanding performances that show the competition is still any singer's game.

The evening kicked off on a patriotic note when coach Cee Lo Green paired military veterans Jonny Gray of Austin, Texas, and Shawn Smith of Utica, N.Y., on "Refugee" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Green chose the song in part as a nod to their service – rocker Gray, 29, completed a tour of duty for the Air Force, while country singer Smith, 32, served in the Army and lost 80 percent of his hearing in his right...

‘The Voice’ Recap: Cee Lo Saves Final Steal For Stephanie Anne
It was the final night of battle rounds Oct. 22, and with only six spots — and one steal! — left, the coaches were forced to make some tough decisions.

As the coaches narrowed down the last of their team members, Olivia Henken and Stephanie Anne Johnson prompted Cee Lo Green to use his final steal. But wait, now that steals have been added to the knock-out rounds, every coach had the chance to steel again! “It’s one more chance to make the best team possible for the live rounds,” said Christina Aguilera. Keep reading to see if your favorite artists made the cut.

Team Cee Lo: Jonny Gray vs. Shawn Smith

Cee Lo put Jonny Gray, 29, up against Shawn Smith, 32, with Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers‘ “Refugee.” It was the perfect song choice since both men served in the military — the Airforce and the Army, respectively. In rehearsal, Cee Lo asked...

The Voice Recap: Knockouts. Who's There?
Christina Aguilera
Conspiracy theorists, grab your No. 2 pencils and prepare to jot down some verrry interesting numbers regarding The Voice, because it looks as though NBC’s reality singing competition might just be stacking the deck to prevent Blake Shelton from winning a fourth consecutive season.

Indeed, of the 24 Season 5 Battle Rounds — six per coach — none of Christina Aguilera’s matchups received the dreaded “montage” treatment, compared to one for Adam Levine, two for Cee Lo Green and a whopping three (or 50% of his contestants) for poor Blake!

'The Voice' recap: The Battle Rounds wrap as CeeLo Green uses his last steal
Just like that, "Voice" fans, another round in Season 5 comes to an end with Night 4 of the Battle Rounds on Tuesday (Oct. 22). It's time for coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and CeeLo Green to finish chopping their teams in half before the show can head into its Knockout Rounds (aka The Battle Rounds, Redux). Oh, and CeeLo's still got a steal. Who earns it? Let's find out!

Battle #1: Team CeeLo's Jonny Gray vs. Shawn Smith

CeeLo pits these two fellow military guys on Tom Petty and the Heartbreakts' "Refugee" because it offered both the perfect balance of country and rock. During rehearsals, Shawn struggles with the almost spoken delivery of the verses, while CeeLo hopes for Jonny to find some more angst.

In the actual performance, it comes down to how your prefer the vocal tone of your rocker. Jonny has the more quirky delivery, while Shawn...

The Voice: Cee Lo Green Flirts as Blind Auditions Wind Up
The Voice (2011)
It was an evening full of lessons on The Voice – in perseverance and in embracing coach Cee Lo Green's unique brand of quirky flirtation.

In the final night of Season 5's blind auditions, the coaches picked the last singers for their teams. And Green used his soulful charm on Tamara Chauniece, the daughter of two ministers who recorded her first gospel record at 11.

The 23-year-old Texan charmed both Green and Christina Aguilera with a lilting version of Beyonce's "1 + 1."

"Both my mom and dad are ministers. But I ended up a sinner," Green confessed, seeking to win Chauniece over. "But...

‘The Voice’ Recap: Cee Lo Battles Blake In The Final Round Of Blind Auditions
With only eight spots left to fill on all four teams, the final night of ‘The Voice’ blind auditions proved to be the most intense yet.

The Voice coaches were extra picky Oct. 7 as the blind auditions came to a close. All four were looking for something special to round out their 12-member teams, and everyone — especially Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton – were willing to fight for the singers they wanted.

‘The Voice’ Blind Auditions: Final Team Members

Adam Levine only had two spots left to fill on his team, and it was returning contestant Matt Cermanski – singing John Hiatt‘s ”Have a Little Faith in Me” — who claimed first of those two right off the bat.

“He was mine from the first note,” Adam said.

Taking the second spot was wedding singer Grey, who belted a powerful rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s “Catch My Breath.” Three out the...

The Voice Recap: The Blonde Leading the Blinds?
Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera probably gets the toughest blogosphere feedback of any coach on The Voice – she’s too mean! she makes it all about herself! she sometimes wears tiny spaceships on her head! — but I’ve got to be honest: More often than not, when Xtina fails to hit her button, I’m in full and enthusiastic agreement.

This isn’t to say Xtina has the strongest Season 5 team; I really need to sit down and stare at each coach’s 12-member lineup...
