When "American Dad!" first aired on Fox, "Family Guy" comparisons were inevitable, especially since both shows were created by Seth MacFarlane. "Family Guy" had been through the wringer, undergoing multiple cancellations, only to come back out on top. "American Dad!" felt like a test to see if MacFarlane could get lightning to strike twice with a different show that nonetheless had many of the same qualities as "Family Guy." That includes talking animals, and the early seasons had a tendency to lean into cutaway jokes that "Family Guy" had become synonymous with.
Over the years, "American Dad!" moved to TBS and then back over to Fox, changing its style of humor along the way. The show's less about making fun of current events and more about seeing just how depraved the Smith family can become with a significant decrease in random cutaways. And for those who have followed "American Dad!

Jay Leno believes late-night TV comedians have become too politicized — and that they risk losing half the viewing audience by “cozying up to one side or the other.”
“To me, I like to think that people come to a comedy show to kind of get away from things, you know, the pressures of life, whatever it might be,” Leno said in a recent interview with David Trulio, president and CEO of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute. “Now you have to be content with half the audience because you have to give your opinion.”
Leno didn’t name names. But the current roster of late-night hosts — Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart, John Oliver, Seth Meyers and more — has routinely mocked President Trump and the Maga movement. To be fair, they have also opportunistically lampooned Democrats.
Leno’s impression is that late-night TV these days skews toward specific political viewpoints.

Veteran filmmaker Terry Gilliam is headed to the Umbria Film Festival in Italy, where a screening next weekend of his iconic 1985 dystopian black comedy Brazil will celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary. Nominated for two Oscars and winning a pair of BAFTAs, the movie centers on Jonathan Pryce’s Sam Lowry, who works in the sprawling archives of a megalopolis ruled by faceless bureaucracy and an all-seeing Information Department. When a band of terrorists begins sowing chaos, Sam escapes the gray monotony of his desk job through vivid, dreamlike visions — until reality and fantasy collide with explosive consequences.
Gilliam’s own career has been filled with the fantastical, and often courted controversy. He famously clashed with Universal’s then-Chairman, Sid Sheinberg, over the U.S. release of Brazil, which has gone on to be considered a masterpiece of science fiction.

It's been more than a decade since we last saw Christian Bale's Dark Knight on-screen, and so far the actor has dodged the nostalgia-induced cameo frenzy of recent years. But it seems Bale could be convinced to return as Batman for a "Dark Knight 4" on one very specific condition.
When the actor was first considering to play Batman in Christopher Nolan's 2005 reboot, "Batman Begins," he faced significant pressure not to don the cape. But Bale ignored every warning against playing the Dark Knight, and instead took those warnings as a challenge. In an interview with GQ, the actor recalled how he was told, "Hey, you know, if you play Batman, that's it. You're never gonna play anything else again. You will always be Batman." Rather than listening, however, Bale set out to prove the naysayers wrong. "I went, 'Bring it on. Let's see if that happens,'" he continued.

Christian Bale is an actor that's no stranger to completely transforming himself for his roles. Whether that was becoming incredibly thin for the 2004 thriller The Machinist, regaining all of that weight and muscle for Batman Begins, or even putting on weight for his role as former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney in Vice, Bale has consistently shown impressive commitment. Now, set photos from the actor's latest project have made their way online, showcasing that Bale has yet again undergone a new transformation for his role as football executive and coach Al Davis in the upcoming Madden movie.
Bale can be seen in the set photos sporting some casual clothing and a leather jacket, though it is his three Super Bowl rings that stand out in the costume, with the actor sporting all three on his left hand. More than just the costume, Bale can be seen with a balding...

Adam McKay had no one else but Christian Bale in his mind for his 2018 film, Vice. He wrote and directed the dark comedy film, which explored the rise of a Washington insider to the Vice President of the United States. If you have seen Bale and former VP Dick Cheney, you know that they look nothing alike physically.
However, Bale continued to amaze us with his transformation, as he nailed the look of Cheney to the last detail. He was a contender for an Oscar for the role, however, the award went to Rami Malek for his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody. Many still believe that the Oscar belonged to Bale that year.

Greg Cannom, Oscar-Winning Makeup Artist on ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ and ‘Mrs. Doubtfire,’ Dies at 73
Greg Cannom, the masterful prosthetics and makeup specialist who received Oscars for his work on Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Vice, has died. He was 73.
Cannom worked often with makeup maestro Rick Baker early in his career, and Baker on Friday reported his death in an Instagram post. “His work will be remembered long after his passing,” he wrote. No details were immediately available.
In March 2023, a GoFundMe page was set up to help Cannom with expenses as he battled diabetes and a staph infection that led to one of his legs being amputated below his knee.
In addition to his four wins, Cannom received six other Oscar makeup noms: for Hook (1991), Hoffa (1992), Roommates (1995), Titanic (1997), Bicentennial Man (1999) and A Beautiful Mind (2001).

Listen, the news business is tough. Yes, fact-checking is important, but when there’s a breaking story, there’s not always time to get it straight before those bastards at Insert Competing Publisher get the scoop. Sometimes, though, it pays to be cautious, at least if you don’t want some very powerful enemies because you forced them to read about their own deaths.
5 Mark Twain
Of course, preeminent American humorist Mark Twain most famously announced that “reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated,” but he actually had to do it twice. The first time, his cousin’s illness resulted in a game of telephone that led to his notorious quip, but 10 years later, after The New York Times reported that his boat was lost at sea, he wrote an article for the same newspaper investigating his own possible death. At least, after both mistakes, we got some great writing out of it.

Two years before Al Gore’s Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth elevated the conversation around global warming, Roland Emmerich unleashed The Day After Tomorrow, the 2004 blockbuster that brought the dangers of climate change to the popcorn crowd.
Emmerich was already known as the master of disaster, blowing up the White House in Independence Day (1996) and leveling part of New York in Godzilla (1998). While directing 2000’s The Patriot in hurricane-stricken North Carolina, the German filmmaker became intrigued with extreme weather. At his hotel’s bookstore, he stumbled upon the 1999 novel The Coming of the Global Superstorm, co-written by the conspiracy-enthused radio icon Art Bell and author Whitley Strieber.
The novel inspired Emmerich to dig into the idea that climate change could spark a new ice age over a period of days — not years or centuries. He enlisted Patriot producer Mark Gordon, who paired him with screenwriter Jeffrey Nachmanoff for a package that...

“Drop Dead City” falls into a category of documentary I think of as wonkish but gripping. Produced and directed by Peter Yost and Michael Rohatyn, the film is about the financial cataclysm that hit New York City in 1975, when the powers that be figured out that the city was $6 billion in debt. There was no money to pay anyone: firefighters, cops, teachers, sanitation workers. The city walked right up to the edge of bankruptcy. (That’s not an overstatement.) Had New York City been anything but New York City — had it been a business, a family, or even another city — it likely would have declared bankruptcy. But after a prolonged logistical-ideological war about what to do, the city was deemed too big to fail.
The film’s title refers to the infamous New York Daily News headline that ran on Oct. 30, 1975 (“Ford to City: Drop Dead”). President Gerald R. Ford never actually said those words,...

Fans missing the bone-dry wit of “Succession” may finally quench their thirst with Jesse Armstrong’s new HBO satire “Mountainhead.”
While promoting his new adult animated series “#1 Happy Family USA,” Ramy Youssef — one of the leads in the “Succession” creator’s feature film debut — called the project “funny in the same way ‘Succession’ is.”
“‘Succession’ is one of the best comedies ever made — and this film is certainly funny in the same way,” Youssef told Variety on Wednesday night at the “#1 Happy Family USA” premiere in New York. “Jesse’s writing is on another level. It’s really hard to find something of that caliber, so getting to do it was such a joy.”

The Dutton family saga will continue with 1944. The newest Yellowstone spin-off will further the exploration into the family’s history after the other prequels, 1883 and 1923, have concluded their arcs. The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke with 1923 star Brandon Sklenar as the show came to an end. Although it seemed clear cut that his character, Spencer Dutton, is the grandfather to Kevin Costner’s John Dutton III, Sklenar insists that there might be more to it, “One would assume what it is at the end of the finale, but it still hasn’t been confirmed. So I guess we’ll have to wait for 1944. Hopefully, they’ll reveal that in the first episode, and we won’t have to wait an entire series for confirmation of who John Dutton III’s grandfather is.”
While Sklenar is waiting on the confirmation, he also mentions that he would love to come back and play...

Anyone who watched the series premiere of 1923 in December 2022 knew right away that movie stardom was an inevitability for Brandon Sklenar. His war hero and big-game hunter character, Spencer Dutton, instantly made him a popular choice among fancasters to lead any number of action and superhero franchises (more on this later). The Taylor Sheridan-penned Western drama series also made a point to give the actor plenty of dramatic and romantic material, opening the door to a trio of films with thematic connections.
Last year, Sklenar played Atlas Corrigan in the box office hit, It Ends with Us, and the drama about an abusive relationship quickly became a lightning rod for controversy due to the off-screen legal contention between star-producer Blake Lively and director-star Justin Baldoni. Sklenar’s character recognized that his childhood friend and first love, Lily Bloom (Lively), was an active victim of domestic violence, and so he...

Sean Ono Lennon approves of Sam Mendes’ Beatles biopic process. The musician, who is the son of late Beatle John Lennon and artist Yoko Ono, confirmed to Vanity Fair that he has “every confidence” in Harris Dickinson’s ability to portray John Lennon in the buzzy four-part biopic. The full casting for all four Beatles was announced at CinemaCon 2025, with Paul Mescal portraying Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, in addition to Dickinson’s John Lennon.
Each of the four films will center on a different Beatle’s perspective about their rise to fame. Mendes teased that the project will be the first “bingeable” moviegoing experience, with all four films hitting theaters simultaneously in April 2028.
“We are all in touch with Sam,” Lennon told Vanity Fair while promoting documentary “One to One,” adding, “I told him I am not interested in second-guessing his casting choices as a director.

Acclaimed filmmaker R.J. Cutler wasn’t always planning to make a movie about Martha Stewart. Then, she came to dinner.
“She basically crashed the dinner, and we sat and talked all night long about her life story,” Cutler tells Gold Derby. During their initial conversation, Cutler says he was surprised that Stewart grew up in “modest means” in suburban New Jersey, raised by first-generation American parents.
“Her background was counter-intuitive to what I might have thought it would be,” Cutler says, noting that his initial expectation was that Stewart came from a privileged upbringing. What the filmmaker realized, he says, is that Stewart herself stood as an avatar for American womanhood in the latter part of the 20th century and into the 21st century.

From action films like Pacific Rim Uprising to subtle dramas like Priscilla, Cailee Spaeny continues to experiment with a variety of challenging roles. In her latest movie,Alien: Romulus, the actress has showcased her potential to lead an iconic franchise. One of the most engaging aspects of Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus is the young cast. It evolves the franchise for modern viewers while showing nostalgics that different narratives can be told. In this case, it's a group of young scavengers who run into Xenomorphs rather than seasoned soldiers and experienced scientists.
This approach speaks to the wonder and inquisitive nature of youth. At the core of Romulus is Cailee Spaeny's Rain, who just wants a fresh start. As expected, Spaeny delivers range and impressive nods to Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley. She's certainly a character that sequels can be built around.

The Other Guys, starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, was a clever satire of buddy cop movies – while also scratching the itch for action and camaraderie that define the genre – but it never became a box office hit. However, it found new life on streaming, becoming a cult classic, and now, it’s available on Hulu.
Per Hulu, The Other Guysis one of several new films now available on the streaming platform. The film follows Ferrell and Wahlberg’s characters, two desk jockeys at the police department, as they get the opportunity to prove their heroic worth. The film also stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson as two ass-kickin’, name-takin’ detectives, who are idolized by most of the force. Johnson and Jackson’s characters also happen to have one of the funniest scenes in the film when they jump off a building, thinking they’ll survive – as...

Christian Bale is thought by many to have become an “actor’s actor.” He is fully committed to his characters, often staying in character during shooting, and he is not afraid to lose or gain weight in order to make a character more believable, as was the case with his Oscar-nominated role as former U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney in “Vice.”
Good reviews are something that Bale has gotten used to during his three-decade film career, beginning with his starring role in Steven Spielberg‘s “Empire of the Sun” when he was only 13 years old. In that time, Bale has been nominated for three Oscars (winning one for “The Fighter” with bids for “American Hustle” and “The Big Short”), three Golden Globes and five Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations of which he won two (for “The Fighter” and “American Hustle”). His 2022 films included “Amsterdam” for David O. Russell and “The Pale Blue Eye...

President-elect Donald Trump has always used his public press conferences and social media posts to seize attention and dictate the terms of national discourse. But his recent trolling about taking over Canada, acquiring Greenland, and reclaiming the Panama Canal reveals something more complex than rhetoric.

Christian Bale leads the American Psycho cast in an unforgettable role, but there are other familiar faces in the pitch-black satire. Released in 2000, the movie adapts Bret Easton Ellis's puzzling book, introducing the unconventional Patrick Bateman, a successful banking executive. Despite being rich and an influential businessman in New York City, Patrick decides to give in to dangerous instincts, consumed by an insatiable desire to kill. American Psycho is a sharp send-up of men's obsession with materialism as Patrick effectively represents the embodiment of toxic masculinity and male privilege.
American Psycho is one of the best movies set in the '80s, capturing a rich and vibrant Manhattan in contrast with Patrick's dark impulses. Bale cemented himself as one of the most interesting actors of the 21st century with his mix of dark intensity and goofy humor. The other characters in American Psycho add to the surreal nature of...

History Hit has released a new video on its YouTube channel as part of their Deep Dive series; this one is all about presidential movies. To mark the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Historian Dan Snow takes an in-depth look at the historical accuracy of movies that depict the President of the United States. Snow dissects how Hollywood remembers presidents and politicians of the past. History Hit offers a range of series, documentaries, and podcasts presented by world-renowned historians. You can watch the entire video below.

Adam McKay, the filmmaker behind The Big Short and Don’t Look Up, has some strong opinions about Wicked. He’s not just talking about the musical’s plot, but its political themes, especially in today’s climate.
McKay called Wicked Part 1 one of the most radical big studio films ever made. He pointed out how it focuses on careerism, fascism, and propaganda—themes that seem particularly relevant in America right now, given its increasingly right-wing direction.
While McKay acknowledged that the book and musical are older, he believes the timing of the film’s release couldn’t be more relevant. When replying to another user online, McKay even suggested that, if America continues on its current political path, the movie could end up being banned in the next few years, as you will see below.
His warning comes from a place of concern over how politics could affect the freedom...

“Wicked” was briefly pulled from theaters in Kuwait, allegedly due to its LGBTQ cast, but could the blockbuster musical ever be fully banned in the United States? Filmmaker Adam McKay “wouldn’t be surprised” if the film was pulled in the next few years because of where America is headed politically.
The “Don’t Look Up” director shared his “Wicked” thoughts on X on Tuesday, writing: “On a pure storytelling level ‘Wicked Part 1’ is right up there as one of the most radical big studio Hollywood movies ever made. I know ‘Part 2’ swings back to the center a bit but ‘Part 1’ is nakedly about radicalization in the face of careerism, fascism, propaganda.”
He continued, “What’s really striking about ‘Wicked Part 1’ is that it’s coming out Now when America has never been more right wing and propagandized. And yes, I know the theatrical production and the book are much older...

Donald Trump, in addition to saying he wants to pardon those who attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, said that members of the Jan. 6 committee “should go to jail” for investigating him.
“Everybody on that committee … for what they did, yeah, honestly, they should go to jail,” Trump said on Sunday’s Meet the Press.
He also claimed that former Rep. Liz Cheney and Rep. Bennie Thompson, who co-chaired the committee, were “behind” his federal prosecutions.

The villain who everyone remembers from "Star Trek Into Darkness" is Khan "John Harrison" Noonien Singh (Benedict Cumberbatch). In the Kelvin timeline film, Khan's wrath is focused not on James T. Kirk, but on Admiral Marcus (Peter Weller).
Marcus, who's a warhawk and head of intelligence division Section 31, wants Starfleet to bring the Klingon Empire to heel. In the original "Star Trek" timeline, it was the Enterprise crew (in the classic episode "Space Seed") who discovered Khan and his other human "augment" followers. These superhumans had tried to conquer Earth in the 20th century, but were driven out and escaped Earth aboard the SS Botany Bay, going into cryosleep to weather the passing of time.
In the Kelvin timeline, Marcus reawakens Khan and puts him to work designing weapons, holding his other augment followers hostage. Khan escapes and wages a one-man war against Starfleet before fleeing to the Klingon homeworld Qo'noS.

Why Did Ben Affleck’s Friend Ask Him To Drop The Batman? (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Ben Affleck’s journey as Batman? Let’s just say it had more drama than a Gotham City showdown. In a raw chat with The New York Times, Affleck peeled back the bat-mask and revealed the personal chaos that led him to ditch his Batman role. Turns out, it wasn’t just the grueling schedule or the pressure of directing—his battle with alcohol and a crumbling marriage played the real villains.
His split from Jennifer Garner in 2018 hit him hard. Affleck admitted, “I started drinking more when my marriage was falling apart.” And guess what? He was also juggling plans to direct, co-write, and star in The Batman. Talk about piling on the stress.
While fans were buzzing to see him in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Affleck’s reality was far from superhero-level.

All About Christian Bale And Dick Cheney’s Alleged Feud Over Vice (Photo Credit – Wikimedia)
So, did Dick Cheney really call Christian Bale a dick? After Bale’s epic turn as the former VP in the 2018 movie Vice, Cheney wasn’t showing him praise. Instead, he took the backdoor route and allegedly sent a shady message through Bale’s son’s school. It all went down like this: Bale, who famously gained 40 pounds for the role, revealed in an interview that one of the moms at his son’s school was at a party with Cheney.
She casually mentioned she’d be seeing Bale soon and asked if Cheney had anything to say to him. Cheney’s response? “Tell him he’s a d**k.” No joke. Bale initially thought it was funny, but when the mom clarified there was no humor, the actor realized that the former VP wasn’t exactly cracking a smile.

Jeopardy! fans claimed the game show crossed the line with a recent clue throwing shade at Travis Kelce.
Kelce is known by many as a star tight end who won Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs.
In addition, he’s started to become known for his aspiring career in television and movies, including hosting Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? game show and appearing in FX’s drama series Grotesquerie.
However, he became known by many more people after he began dating pop singer Taylor Swift last year.
The Swifties have a loyal fanbase and will often defend whoever criticizes Taylor or her man, Travis.
That may be why Jeopardy! posted a public apology after recently mentioning the football star during the show as fans blasted them.

Kamala Harris’ 2024 campaign started out fun. It opened with the politics of joy, and a hearty dose of mockery aimed at Donald Trump and his running mate, J.D. Vance. The campaign quickly adopted a different tack — attempting to project strength and leadership, while courting support from Republicans concerned about the threat posed by Trump.
That approach culminated with Harris campaigning with former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney and touting an endorsement from her father, former Vice President and Iraq War architect Dick Cheney. The pitch bombed with Republicans, as Democrats’ share...

During the final weeks of the 2024 campaign, Kamala Harris toured battleground states with former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney. After she and her dad, Iraq War architect and former Vice President Dick Cheney, endorsed Harris, the Democratic nominee said she was “honored to have their endorsement,” calling them “well-respected,” and saying the Cheneys had made an “important statement that it’s Ok … to put country above party.”

Liz Cheney said that the democratic system “functioned last night” as Donald Trump was elected to a new term in the White House, but said that it would be up to citizens, courts, the press and those in government to be the “guardrails of democracy.”
Cheney endorsed Kamala Harris in the presidential race, voting for a Democrat for the first time. Her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, also endorsed Harris.
Cheney wrote on X, “Our nation’s democratic system functioned last night and we have a new President-elect. All Americans are bound, whether we like the outcome or not, to accept the results of our elections. We now have a special responsibility, as citizens of the greatest nation on earth, to do everything we can to support and defend our Constitution, preserve the rule of law, and ensure that our institutions hold over these coming four years. There likely won’t be a winner declared when the polls close Tuesday night. But even before the results are final, there are some clear winners and losers in this year’s topsy-turvy race for the White House between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Talking Heads
Winner: Charlamagne Tha God
That Comedy Central show may not have worked out, but The Breakfast Club co-host truly spoke truth to power this election season, repeatedly. From warning Americans against what could happen after Election Day, Joe Biden’s electoral and cultural shortcomings and the burning desire out there in a divided nation for less jargon and more straight talk, he was way ahead of the curve. In piercing on-air interviews with Kamala Harris and RNC boss Lara Trump, Charlamagne owned the curve. Calling out CNN’s “bullsh*t”-spouting Anderson Cooper and the mainstream media...

In 1990 the sports world’s biggest star, Michael Jordan, was asked to endorse Harvey Gantt, a Black candidate challenging the incumbent North Carolina senator, noted racist Jesse Helms. As he confirmed in the 2020 docuseries “The Last Dance,” Jordan chose not to engage, famously telling teammates, “Republicans buy sneakers, too.”
Jordan might have gotten away with such neutrality then, but in the current political climate, it’s increasingly difficult for celebrities to stay on the sidelines.
Part of that has to do with social media, which wasn’t a concern when Jordan was winning championships for the Chicago Bulls. Even more, though, remaining silent today can easily be spun into tacitly backing one side or the other of a political divide that has become so toxic and polarized many perceived allies – and fans – won’t readily accept silence as an option.

Drea de Matteo never was particularly political. Her only partisan statement came via a 2010 music video she directed for Shooter Jenning’s “Summer of Rage” — a not-so-subtle jab at the Bush-Cheney administration’s ever-churning war machine. In 2020, she voted for the first time in her life in the presidential election, casting her ballot for Joe Biden in his bid to replace Donald Trump in the White House. Then, as the Covid pandemic entered its second year, everything came crashing down for “The Sopranos” actress whose Adriana La Cerva provided the sole conscience in a sea of moral degenerates.

Her family shunned her for being anti-vax. She became persona non grata among the Hollywood set. And her agent, who she considered a friend, dropped her.

Exclusive: Coming right down to the wire with the polls tied days before Election Day, the White House race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump has many Democrats in Hollywood very nervous.

Christian Bale can’t watch The Dark Knight Rises anymore. Why? The tragic 2012 Aurora shooting hangs over this Batman finale, claiming twelve lives and forever altering Bale’s perspective.
“Sadly, I have not been able to watch that film since because of Aurora. I’ve been unable to sit down and see it without thinking of that,” Bale shared, revealing the emotional weight that made this superhero flick a strict watch for him.
July 20, 2012, turned into a legit horror flick. James Eagan Holmes crashed The Dark Knight Rises screening at the Century 16 in Aurora, unleashing tear gas and gunfire. The tragic tally? Twelve lives were lost, and seventy were injured. Chillingly, Holmes called himself “The Joker,” a dark twist on Bale’s masterful portrayal.

The hosts of Deadline’s Doc Talk and ElectionLine podcasts are getting together for an unprecedented crossover episode. Think Law & Order: Svu meets Law & Order: Organized Crime; Angel meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural meets Scooby-Doo (Zoinks! — that really happened).

Tim Walz reacted on Monday to Donald Trump’s viral day at McDonald’s, calling on the campaign to stop disrespectful pandering.
Trump stopped at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s over the weekend, where he spent time serving customers and taking photos that have since gone viral. During an appearance on The View, Walz panned the event, calling it disrespectful to the middle class.

Walz continued, “His policies are the ones that undermine those very workers that were in that McDonald’s, whether it’s home ownership, health care, reproductive rights or cost of products. So there’s more work to be done.”
He finished by saying, “Just to be very clear,...

With two weeks until Election Day, Gov. Tim Walz is confident he and Vice President Kamala Harris can sway enough undecided voters.

How do you induct the Prince of Darkness into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? With an all-star celebration. On Saturday night, Billy Idol, Jelly Roll, and Tool frontman Maynard Keenan gathered to sing songs from throughout Ozzy Osbourne’s solo career.
After Osbourne himself kicked things off by bellowing the words, “All aboard,” the tribute started with “Crazy Train,” with Wolfgang Van Halen playing a ripping solo as Keenan took on the vocals. Jelly Roll stepped up next, singing Osbourne’s iconic power ballad “Mama, I’m Coming Home.

The Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling is particularly tough to predict early on because of the complicated system by which the nominees are determined in two stages. First, upwards of 15 members of the branch who attend special screenings cast preferential ballots with the top 10 vote-getters moving on to the second stage (it was a lucky seven till 2021). Those members from the first stage and any other members who either attend screenings of excerpts from these semi-finalists or attest that they have seen them cast preferential ballots and the top five films are nominated; that is up from three in years past. (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2025 Oscar predictions for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.)
The award for Best Makeup was introduced in 1981, following an outcry over the lack of recognition for Christopher Tucker‘s groundbreaking work on “The Elephant Man” (1980). Hairstylists began sharing the award with makeup artists in 1993 when “Mrs. Doubtfire” won.
