“Agent 86,” a rare China-Tunisia coproduction film, will have its world premiere on Friday in Tunisia, ahead of a commercial release in Tunisian theaters from Sept. 25.

The film is pitched as “a fast-paced action thriller following an international Special Task Force that comes together to fight cross border drug trafficking after a devastatingly addictive drug named Devil’s Breath goes on sale in Hong Kong.”

Collider reports that Reeves may be set for his sophomore directing effort. The project also happens to be based on a comic book of his own creation titled Brzrkr. This comic was realized with great success from a Kickstarter campaign and was able to be published in 2021. It had garnered positive reactions from both critics and comic fans. The series sported an epic, cinematic tale featuring a warrior bearing Reeves’ likeness, fighting his way through different eras in history. It’s like John Wick meets Ted Theodore Logan.

Netflix had announced that they would be adapting Brzrkr into both a feature film and an animated series. There are currently no details on the animated series, but the movie already has some activity as screenwriter, Matt Tomlin, has already completed a script. Reeves hasn’t yet decided if he will be directing it, but he is considering this option if he likes the script.

Forget The Expendables. The team you want to be on is the one in which Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Scott Adkins, and more are throwing high-flying fisticuffs. That is certainly the very amusing appeal of Triple Threat, a new VOD and limited release cinematic event that brings some of 21st century cinema’s best martial artists together for an action movie spectacle.

A brand new photo from John Wick Chapter 3 has made its way online. Production is currently underway on the finale to the John Wick trilogy, which will once again see Keanu Reeves racking up a high body count in (hopefully) glorious fashion. A new official photo from John Wick: Chapter 3 has been released which doesn't actually feature the titular assassin. Keanu Reeves has revealed the official title for John Wick 3. The first entry in the franchise was simply titled John Wick, with the sequel going with the title of John Wick: Chapter 2. With that, it was assumed that the third movie in the trilogy would follow suit and be subtitled Chapter 3. That's not the case, as Keanu Reeves has revealed that the official title for next year's finale is titled John Wick 3: Parabellum.

If you're a fan of martial arts films, there's a movie called Triple Threat that you're going to want to keep your eye out for. The movie brings together three of today's most talented martial artists for the first time: Ong Bak star Tony Jaa, The Raid star Iko Uwais, and Man of Tai Chi star Tiger Chen. These guys are the ultimate badasses, and they will be squaring off against Scott Adkins (Zero Dark Thirty, Doctor Strange), Ufc middleweight champ Michael Bisping, and action movie vet Michael Jai White.

According to THR, "The action kicks off after a billionaire's daughter becomes the target of a mercenary cartel. Her only protection are two down-on-their-luck fighters and a third who has vowed revenge against the others." They go on to clarify that "Jaa, Uwais and Chen are the protagonists, while American thespians Adkins, Bisping and White are the villains."

Exclusive: Streaming giant is fully-financing the debut feature as a director from actor Lu Yulai.

Aggressively expanding online platform iQiyi has moved into fully financing its own productions, starting with Lu Yulai’s My Town, which was selected as a Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (Haf) project in 2015.

Currently in production, the film stars Geng Le (Beijing Love Story) and Qi Xi (Mystery) in a story about a love triangle.

Lu, who is making his feature directorial debut with the film, is best known as an actor with credits including Gu Changwei’s Peacock. His short Brother screened at Busan in 2013.

iQiyi is also fully financing Jiang Kaiyang’s crime action film Even Stronger (working title) and Zhang Xiao’s comedy I Am Your Mom.

Even Stronger is currently shooting, while I Am Your Mom, starring Yan Ni (The Wasted Times) as a single mother raising a rebellious child, is in post-production.

As Filmart got underway Monday in Hong Kong, Crimson Entertainment acquired the rights to Chinese streaming-video giant iQiyi’s sci-fi action film Kung Fu Traveler for a North American release.

Crimson, in association with Hannover House, is planning to bow the film stateside this summer.

Directed by Xian Feng, Kung Fu Traveler stars Asian martial arts master Tiger Chen (Man of Taichi, Matrix) in a story about an alien takeover of Earth. Chen’s character, a Chinese military general, is sent back in time to try to devise a way to defeat the alien invaders.

Recently Joe Carnahan and Frank Grillo announced that they will be teaming up to produce an American remake of the hit Indonesian action film “The Raid,” and now the two have followed up that announcement with an interview with Collider. The two specifically spoke about how their project will be more of a reimagining of the source material, and will make significant changes to the story and style to the original film. All of these changes have the approval of the original film’s director, Gareth Evans, who is producing the film, and told Carnahan and Grillo after extensively discussing their project: “Go make your version. I want to see your version.”

Upon its release, “John Wick” became a critical and commercial success, earning $78 million worldwide. Its sequel, “John Wick: Chapter 2,” to be released in theaters this February, sees the return of Keanu Reeves as the legendary hitman and promises to be an even bigger adventure.

As Mr. Wick’s story continues forward, director Chad Stahelski and screenwriter Derek Kolstad have already explored the character’s backstory and life before the first film. The duo have even written bits of a prequel to possibly make it into a TV series.

The 1986 fantasy film “Highlander” is getting the Hollywood reboot treatment with “John Wick’s” Chad Stahelski set to direct for Lionsgate.

The remake has been in the works since 2008 and previously had Justin Lin, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Cedric Nicolas-Troyan attached to direct, with Stahelski now officially taking the lead.

“I’ve been a huge fan of the original property since I saw it in high school,” Stahelski told The Hollywood Reporter, who reported the news first. “Such great themes of immortality, love, and identity are all wrapped up in such colorful mythology. I can’t think of a better property that gives the opportunity to create interesting characters, mythic themes and action set pieces.”

The film will be produced by Neal H. Moritz and Peter Davis. The studio is currently looking for a writer to pen the script.

Escapist entertainment is suddenly at least three times as important as it was a few days ago. So, it’s comforting to hear that Chad Stahelski (John Wick) will direct all the high-octane action for three of Asia’s biggest stars for an as-yet-untitled project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thailand’s Tony Jaa (Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior), China’s Tiger Hu Chen (Man Of Tai Chi), and Indonesia’s Iko Uwais (The Raid: Redemption) have all signed on for the Kungfuman Culture Media and Hamilton Entertainment production.

The movie will be directed by Wang Xiaolie and produced by Kungfuman Culture Media and Hamilton Entertainment. Earlier reports of Chad Stahelski (John Wick franchise) co-directing the film appears to be incorrect, with Stahelski publicist saying that the action director will only be assisting with the film’s action design.

After orchestrating one of the most refreshing action movies in years, John Wick co-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch largely went their separate ways. Rather than shepherd the 2017 sequel, the latter made tracks to The Coldest City, the Charlize Theron-fronted thriller that’s booked in for late next year. He’s also cropped up in conversation for the vacant Deadpool 2 gig, if reports are to be believed.
