Desperate Housewives remains one of the most iconic — and provocative — TV dramas of the 2000s, and according to James Denton, the show’s boundary-pushing moments weren’t always easy to stomach… even for the cast. Speaking to Collider’s Maggie Lovitt on a panel at FanX's Tampa Bay Comic Convention alongside his Good Witch co-star Catherine Bell, Denton reflected on how creator Marc Cherry and the writing team often danced on the line between satire and discomfort — sometimes going full throttle into material that might not be greenlit today. What do you mean, you don't think people would chain their own children up inside their own homes, or help their sons cover up a hit and run?

“Yes, yes, it was,” Denton said when asked if the show was ahead of its time. “And there were some cringingly uncomfortable [moments] for the actors, but the show knew what they were doing.

One week later, Cherry will speak with Budig and Rikaart on Tuesday, August 19, with LeBlanc and Bregman closing out August on Tuesday, August 26.

The joint interviews featuring Tom/Saint-Victor and LeBlanc/Bregman mark the first time the podcast includes joint interviews in an episode. Prior episodes have seen individual interviews, including Eric Braeden (“The Young and the Restless”), Deidre Hall (“Days of our Lives”) and “Beyond the Gates” executive producer Sheila Ducksworth.

In an exclusive clip released to Soap Opera Network, Braeden reveals how the late Dabney Coleman played a part in his decision to meet with CBS executives and notes that he was initially only supposed to do three months on the show, but it ended up becoming a long-lasting career in daytime television that has since spanned more than 45 years.

The Desperate Housewives alum recently said he would potentially reprise his role as deadbeat husband Orson Hodge or “something completely new” in a reboot of the Marc Cherry comedy-drama, which ran for eight seasons on ABC from 2004 to 2012.

With some new housewives moving onto one of TV’s most famous streets, Felicity Huffman is welcoming them to the neighborhood.

The Oscar nominee, who portrayed Lynette Scavo on ABC‘s Desperate Housewives, recently reacted to news of Kerry Washington‘s Onyx Collective offshoot Wisteria Lane, which Deadline exclusively announced last month.

“Isn’t that great? They’re gonna do Wisteria Lane with women of color, and I am all for it,” she said on Good Morning America, before joking: “I am gonna do craft service for it. But I just think it’s wonderful, and I’m a huge fan of Kerry’s.”

Huffman had no suggestions on who should take over her role as Lynette, an overworked stay-at-home mother of five children who longs for the workplace and eventually struggles cancer during the show’s eight-season run from 2004 to 2012.

“Oh my god, I have no idea,” said Huffman.

The writer-producer revealed to People that he understands why the Real Housewives production team developed the show, which premiered in 2006 in Orange County, California, following the success of Desperate Housewives, which ran for eight seasons from 2004 to 2012.

“They didn’t crib my name, to be fair to them,” Cherry said about the Bravo franchise in a story published Thursday. “They just used the word. Our show came out, and they capitalized on that. And you know what? That’s the capitalistic system.”

The showrunner added that people often confuse the two shows because the Real Housewives franchise “continues to be out there,” producing new series and spinoffs. Cherry lists Tommy Tune as one of the celebrities who accidentally swapped the two series in conversation.
