Roz of the Recapture is the Code Geass franchises return to the anime spotlight after its original series, Lelouch of the Rebellion, ended in 2008. Lelouch of the Rebellion was famed for its overall dark and complex story and its even more complex protagonist, the titular character Lelouch vi Britannia. He rose to fame as one of the most memorable and well-written anime characters of all time, so fans were looking forward to seeing him, along with other characters from the original cast, in Roz of the Recapture.

Roz of the Recapture treats long-time fans of the franchise with a bit of nostalgia by sprinkling old characters across various episodes of the series in brief, non-consequential cameos. Although fans had hoped for more, especially when it came to integral characters like Lelouch and Suzaku, every notable appearance from the original cast (and more) was a welcome sight that connected the new sequel to a decades-old masterpiece.

The second phase of Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture 's four-pronged attack on Japanese theaters is now underway, meaning that a brand-new key visual and trailer for Part 3 was unveiled today by the franchise's official website and accounts. Part 1 of the anime films began screening in Japanese theaters on May 10 , with Part 2 following on June 7, Part 3 on July 5 and the final part on August 2. A 12-episode cut will begin streaming on Disney+ from June 21. Key Visual Character designs were also revealed for Nina Einstein and Minato Sakai, who'll be voiced by Saeko Chiba and Lynn, respectively, along with a Knightmare design for the Zi-Ortygia.
