Anthony Chisholm, the Tony-nominated actor who appeared in several movies and TV series, has passed away. The news comes from The Katz Company with a post on Facebook, although a cause of death hasn't yet been revealed. He was 77 years old.

"The Katz Company is saddened to announce the passing of our longtime friend and client, Tony-Nominee, Anthony Chisholm," the post reads, including a photo of the veteran performer. "Affectionately called 'Chiz,' he was an actor and storyteller like none-other, embodying loyalty, devotion, and compassion to his artistry. We lost a great one today."

Chisholm was born on April 9, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. After serving for the United States Army in the Vietnam War, Chisholm pursued acting by performance on stage at Cleveland's Karamu House. Anthony Chisholm, a Tony-nominated actor who was a veteran presence on stage, TV and film, has died at the age of 77.

His talent agency confirmed his death to TheWrap early on Saturday.

“The Katz Company is saddened to announce the passing of our longtime friend and client, Tony-Nominee, Anthony Chisholm,” the firm said in a statement. “Affectionately called ‘Chiz,’ he was an actor and storyteller like none-other, embodying loyalty, devotion, and compassion to his artistry.”

Chisholm, best remembered by many for his three seasons portraying Burr Redding on HBO’s “Oz,” earned his Tony nomination in 2007 for his portrayal of Elder Joseph Balow in playwright August Wilson’s “Radio Golf.” Chisholm and Wilson were frequent collaborators dating back to 1990 when he was cast in the latter’s play “Two Trains Running.”

His lengthy resume also included an off-Broadway run in “Jitney” in 2000, and he later rejoined the production for its 2017 Broadway revival,...

Anthony Chisholm, the actor who played Burr Redding on HBO’s prison drama Oz, has died at the age of 77. Although no cause of death was immediately given, his passing was confirmed by The Katz Company.

Best known for his recurring work on Oz‘s last three seasons, Chisholm starred in a total of 23 episodes from 2001-2003. His other TV credits include Law & Order: Svu, High Maintenance, Random Acts of Flyness, Hack and last year’s Hulu drama Wu-Tang: An American Saga.

Anthony Chisholm, whose long acting career spanned Broadway, film and television, died today at age 77. No cause was given by The Katz Company, his talent management.

Chisholm earned a 2007 Tony nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in August Wilson’s play Radio Golf.

He was born on April 9, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio, and was drafted by the US Army in the 1960s, serving as a platoon leader for the 4th Armored Calvary, 1st Infantry Division in the Vietnam War. Upon returning to the US, Chisholm performed in The Boys from Syracuse and The Threepenny Opera at Karamu House in Cleveland, Ohio.

He made his film debut in the 1968 Uptight, directed by Jules Dassin. That launched a career that saw him in such films as Putney Swope in 1969 and Cotton Comes to Harlem in 1970.

In 1987, Chisholm’s Vietnam War experiences were the inspiration for the HBO television series Vietnam War Story.

Neve Campbell ("Scream") has scored a voice role in Lawrence Guterman's CG animated feature "Bremen Town Musicians". This reimagining of the Russian folk tale and Brothers Grimm story about an incompetent wizard's search across space and time for the greatest musical troupe in creation.

When we last heard about Condemned, we learned Dylan Penn was going to star. Caliber Media informs us Johnny Messner, Ronen Rubinstein, Shawn Christensen, Jon Abrahams, Jordan Gelber, Lydia Hearst, Honor Titus, Genevieve Hudson-Price, Anthony Chisholm, Kevin Kirkwood, Kea Ho, and Michael Drayer also join the cast. Eli Morgan Gesner will direct the horror film; cameras begin rolling in April.

Screen Daily is reporting that more cast members have joined the new film from director Eli Morgan Gesner, Condemned. According to the site, Johnny Messner (pictured), Ronen Rubinstein, Shawn Christensen, Jon Abrahams, and Jordan Gelber have all been cast.

They join the previously announced Dylan Penn, Lydia Hearst, and Honor Titus. Genevieve Hudson-Price, Anthony Chisholm, Kevin Kirkwood, Kea Ho, and Michael Drayer also star.

In the film Dylan Penn will play the lead role of “Maya, the youngest member of a group of kids who live in a condemned, filthy squat in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. After an infection originating from their own waste hits the building’s residents, the people inside lose their mind and go on murderous rampages.”

NEW YORK -- Spring AwakeningSteven Sater-Duncan Sheik musical, which combines pop-rock sensibilities with a story set in 19th century Germany, will be considered for best musical, score, book, director, choreography and orchestration as well as for leading actor (Jonathan Groff), featured actor (John Gallagher Jr.) and three design awards.

The nominations for the 61st annual Tony Awards, presented by the League of American Theatres and Producers and the American Theatre Wing, were announced by Jane Krakowski and Taye Diggs at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

Right behind with 10 nominations were Tom Stoppard's trilogy The Coast of Utopia and the musical Grey Gardens, which figures to provide the stiffest competition for Spring. Based on the Maysles brothers' documentary, Grey also received noms for best musical, book, score, director and orchestration as well as two acting nominations: Christine Ebersole for leading actress and Mary Louise Wilson for featured actress. Ebersole is favored to take home her second Tony (she also won for 42nd Street), but previous multiple winners Audra McDonald (110 in the Shade) and Donna Murphy (LoveMusik) will receive strong consideration. Last season, Ebersole collected several prizes for her performance as the eccentric Edie Beale, Jacqueline Onassis' cousin, during the show's off-Broadway run at Playwrights Horizons. The Tonys are for Broadway productions only.

The Stoppard trilogy, a philosophical-political rumination on prerevolutionary Russia, earned noms for best play, director and five for acting: Brian F. O'Byrne (lead actor), Billy Crudup and Ethan Hawke (featured actor) and Martha Plimpton and Jennifer Ehle (featured actress). Coram Boy, the British import by Helen Edmundson, received the second-most nominations among plays but did not receive a nom for best play. In a curious bit of logic, though, director Melly Still did get a nomination.

Radio Golf, the final installment of the late August Wilson's 10-play cycle about the black American experience in the 20th century, received four nominations: best play, scenic design (David Gallo) and two for acting (Anthony Chisolm and John Earl Jelks in the featured actor category).

Among revivals, Journey's End (six) and 110 in the Shade (five) led the way for plays and musicals, respectively. In addition to best revival, Journey earned recognition for direction, scenic and lighting design and for two of its actors: Boyd Gaines (lead) and Stark Sands (featured). 110 in the Shade is in the running for musical revival, lead actress (McDonald), featured actor (John Cullum), orchestrations and lighting design.

Spring, which uses rock 'n' roll to convey the teen angst of 19th century German schoolchildren, opened in the beginning of the season off-Broadway, at the Atlantic Theater, before moving uptown in the fall.
