Black Box: Has the ABC TV Show Been Cancelled?
ABC recently cancelled several shows (Mixology, Suburgatory, Betrayal, etc.) and renewed many others (Resurrection, Revenge, The Goldbergs, etc.). What about the new Black Box series that airs on Thursday nights?

The show revolves around a beautiful and brilliant neuroscientist (Kelly Reilly) who's hiding the fact that she's bipolar. The rest of the cast includes Ditch Davey, David Ajala, Terry Kinney, Ali Wong, David Chisum, Laura Fraser, Siobhan Williams, and Vanessa Redgrave.

The show debuted on April 24th to a poor 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.87 million viewers. The ratings have gotten even worse as the weeks have progressed. This week's installment hit a new low with a 1.1 rating and 4.31 million.

While ABC hasn't cancelled Black Box, they surely will. The ratings have just been too low to be renewed for a second season.

Black Box: Season One Ratings
ABC gave Black Box a straight-to-series order and ordered 13 episodes without seeing a pilot first. Will it be a ratings success and earn a second season or will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.

Kelly Reilly in Black Box (2014)
ABC's 'Black Box': The craziest, least-crazy show on TV
Kelly Reilly in Black Box (2014)
Oh boy. Guys, I do not know what to do with Black Box, ABC’s new medical drama. (Yes, the show is about neither airplanes nor experimental theater; yes, its protagonist’s last name is “Black”; yes, this is a titling convention that must be stopped immediately.)

When its logical left brain is in control, Black Box is an utterly conventional, thoroughly dull entry in the over-saturated “Insufferable Genius” genre. But when the show’s crazy right brain takes over, it’s a jaw-dropping, over-the-top campfest with true potential to fill the Smash-sized hole in your (read: my) heart.

Neither version is good,...

Black Box TV Review – ABC Takes On Mental Health Drama
The Black Box – ABC’s “The Black Box” stars Ditch Davey as Dr. Ian Bickman, Kelly Reilly as Catherine Black and David Ajala as Will Van Renseller. (ABC/Andrew Eccles)

Black Box, ABC‘s latest drama, feels a lot like a show created by committee, and constructed largely by piecing together ratings research of plot and character points. A little bit House, a hint of Grey’s Anatomy, and a heaping dose of the hokey, “we’re calling you stupid,” plot construction of Scandal… et voilà. Of course, if those last two are among your favorite shows, welcome to your new obsession.

Dr. Catherine Black (Kelly Reilly) is the world’s most impressive and important neurologist… or whatever. She’s so cool that she has her own facility in New York City. Known as “The Cube,” it’s all neurology, all the time, and Dr. Black runs the show. But,...

Ding Ding! Mark Margolis Heads to American Horror Story Season 2: Asylum
The one thing you could never disappoint me with is the casting of Mark Margolis in just about anything, even the pop culture friendly Ryan Murphy series, American Horror Story: Asylum. Some of you should be able to recognize Margolis as the infamously wheelchair-bound and bell-ringing Cartel man, Hector “Tio” Salamanca of Breaking Bad. Sure, he’s done plenty of other projects, including a guest-starring role on the first season of Person of Interest, but his claim to fame is his astounding ability to portray so much of Tio’s emotions through various facial twitches and the ding ding ding of his little bell. In my mind, nothing will ever top that role, but he can still try. Ahs: Asylum is a strange enough series to possibly give him the opportunity to create an equally memorable character but, the thing is, we don’t know about who he’ll play.

More Actors Join the Cast of American Horror Story: Asylum
In addition to a number of actors returning from the first season, more than a dozen new actors have joined the cast of American Horror Story: Asylum. Although the new season is already filming, we have news of a few late casting additions, which include someone that Breaking Bad fans will instantly recognize.

Mark Margolis (Breaking Bad, pictured below) will join the cast in a recurring role, according to EW. Unfortunately, like many of the roles, he will remain a mystery until the show airs. However, we know that his character will be named Sam Goodwin and have some information on two guest roles. Amy Farrington (Hung) will be playing a “worried mother”, while David Chisum (One Life to Live) has been cast as a “loving husband”.

DVD Review: Dark Mirror
Dark Mirror

Stars: Lisa Vidal, David Chisum, Joshua Pelegrin, Lupe Ontiveros, Christine Lakin | Written by Matthew Reynolds, Pablo Proenza | Directed by Pablo Proenza

Originality in horror can be hard to come by; a lot has been done before so it’s hard to come up with new things. Sometimes though there are ways to manipulate reality in ways and add extra dimensions that create a whole new world where anything can happen. This is something that Dark Mirror tries to do.

Deborah Martin is a photographer who moves into a house with her family. The house used to be the home of an enigmatic artist who disappeared with his wife; local legend says before he disappeared he may have in fact killed his wife. When taking pictures around the house Deborah takes a photograph of a mirror in the bedroom and from that point things start getting strange, like doors...

Dark Mirror (2007) Movie Review
Originally unleashed back in 2007, “Dark Mirror” is a low key psychodrama horror, which now makes a belated arrival on UK region 2 DVD via Arrow Films. The film was directed by Pablo Proenza, who worked as an editor on the Michael Moore documentary “Capitalism: A Love Story”, and stars in the lead “E.R.” actress Lisa Vidal, along with television actor David Chisum, Christine Lakin (who some may remember from way back when in the television series “Step by Step”) and Joshua Pelegrin. Vidal plays Debbie, a woman who relocates from Seattle to Southern California with her husband Jim (David Chisum) and young son Ian (Joshua Pelegrin), moving into a house with mesmerising stained glass windows. A photographer looking for work, Debbie snaps herself looking in the bathroom mirror, with the window in the background, and experiences an oddly hallucinatory effect, after which she starts seeing strange visions of a hooded figure.

Castle Review: An Epidemic of Evil?
Okay, let me take a moment to catch my breath... Wow.

The standard and quirky Castle episodes to which we are usually privy are always enjoyable and fun. The annual two-parter, though? Heart-pumping.

The series has done it again. The fourth season’s double episode event started with “Pandora” and, simply put, it rocked. This was an episode that kept you on your toes and was every bit of amazing. Being that this is a to be continued, let’s talk about what we learned so far.

Castle’s First. Cue the awkwardness and cue annoyed Beckett. Guest star Jennifer Beals started her arc as CIA Agent Sophia Turner here. Castle had previously based a character on her for his Derrick Storm novels and Kate is not loving that idea.

Turns out our mystery writer spent a year with Sophia and it seems like things could have been a little bit more than professional.

Kathy Najimy to Guest Star on Desperate Housewives
Veteran actress Kathy Najimy has landed a role on Desperate Housewives.

The actress - who has appeared on a number of shows, including Privileged, King of the Hill and Numb3rs - will guest star in as a police officer with a surprising connection to Teri Hatcher’s Susan.

“Susan suspects Katherine was the one who attacked Julie, so she gets [a cop] to help her,” creator Marc Cherry told Entertainment Weekly. “But then she finds out the policewoman went to high school with her — and Susan stole her boyfriend, too! So [Najimy] has been going around the past 30 years resenting her.”

In other Desperate Housewives casting news, Rebecca Staab and David Chisum are also coming to Wisteria Lane.

They'll debut on October 25; while Najimy's episode will also air in October.

A Cheating Scandal: Coming to Desperate Housewives!
Most of the time, when Desperate Housewives viewers hear about a "cheating scandal," they assume a disloyal spouse is sleeping around. And that's typically the case.

But cheating of a different sort will be an issue this fall, as TV Guide reports that Tom will take a few shortcuts on his college work when the new season of this ABC hit returns.

Lynette will find out and will Not be pleased.

Hmmm, we just re-read that and realized that it is entirely possible that the "cheating" in question is with another woman. Guess we'll need to tune in and find out.

We can at least confirm with certainty that Rebecca Staab and David Chisum are joining the cast. See, we're good for something!

Marc Cherry Creates 'Desperate Housewives' Vignettes
Details about extra series that accompanies the sixth season of "Desperate Housewives" have been unearthed. As previously reported, there would be eight vignettes, released weekly as the series' side dish, which are promoting Sprint mobile. Turns out these vignettes are produced by creator Marc Cherry and written by the show's writers.

"They're kind of like the old Taster's Choice commercials, but we added a lot of wicked dark humor, murder and adultery and betrayal," Cherry told EW. Executive Producer Sabrina Wind chimed in, "It's very Desperate Housewives. It was shot on our set, with our crew, and written by our writers."

While EW reported that the 35-second spots will air beginning the show's premiere on September 27, ABC Soaps in Depth said that they will begin as early as Tuesday, September 22 with the introduction of two new characters played by Rebecca Staab and David Chisum. Cherry said Staab and Chisum will...
