All 18 Keanu Reeves Movies From The 1990s, Ranked
Image
Keanu Reeves has been acting since the 1980s, and has given the world great performances in the realm of action, adventure, drama, and even comedy. It's rare for someone whose most prolific catchphrase is "Whoah" to be able to show so much emotional depth in a wide range of roles. Reeves is known not to take himself too seriously while still being able to take on very serious roles.

The 1990s were a very rich decade for Keanu Reeves' best films, which saw him star in action-packed blockbusters like Speed, emotional indie films like My Own Private Idaho, and ensemble pieces like Bram Stoker's Dracula. His star was on the rise throughout that tumultuous time of growth, and he's been an unwavering part of pop culture ever since. While Reeves has a very stoic approach to acting, with some criticizing his limited range, it's that brooding calmness that makes...

10 Remakes Of 1990s Movies That Couldn't Replicate Their Success
Image
Over the last decade or two, one particular trend in Hollywood has left moviegoers divided. This specific trend involves major studios electing to remake their fan-favorite films from years before. Some enjoy seeing their favorite stories be brought back to life, while others would prefer to see studios dedicating their resources to more original ideas. Regardless of where you stand on this debate, it is impossible to deny that the movie world has recently been flooded with remakes of popular films.

A major reason why so many of these remakes are happening is because they often feel like a surefire way to make a massive profit by capitalizing on a pre-existing audience. However, several recent attempts have demonstrated that success is not a guarantee. Some remakes unfortunately end up thoroughly underwhelming their audiences, failing to offer all the exciting elements that made the original films so popular, particularly when it...

Keanu Reeves Action Thriller 'Point Break' Leaves Netflix Soon
Image
Attention all fans of '90's cinema and off-the-wall action, please take note: Point Break is leaving Netflix on December 1st of this year. The film — which stars Keanu Reeves as FBI agent Johnny Utah and Patrick Swayze as surfer and criminal Bodhi — is essential viewing for anyone who likes action that leaves you at the edge of your seat, and incredibly compelling character dynamics that pull you into a world of thievery done just for the thrill of it.

Rather than simply being a conventional game of cat-and-mouse between cop and robber — such as venerated classics like Michael Mann's Heat — Point Break is groundbreaking in its commitment to entangling Reeves' character Johnny with the mastermind Bodhi. The criminal has an alluring philosophy, one of constantly chasing the ultimate thrill, and it draws the undercover cop into their dangerous lifestyle. The unconventional nature of the two leads' relationship, paired with the stunning action,...

Expert Bank Robber Gives Perfect Score to Keanu Reeves’ Popular Heist Movie, Point Break
Image
Keanu Reeves is an action genre icon, known for his roles in John Wick, Speed, and Point Break directed by Kathryn Bigelow. Point Break follows FBI agent Jonny Utah as he infiltrates a gang of surf-loving robbers, led by Bodhi, who influences Jonny's way of life. It also involves a love interest named Tyler. The movie received a 10 out of 10 rating from a former bank robber who praised its realistic portrayal of a robbery scene, emphasizing the importance of maintaining control and avoiding actions that would alert potential witnesses.

Keanu Reeves has become an icon within the action genre by playing John Wick, but the actor was already a huge star thanks to some other major titles such as Speed or Point Break, the 1991 classic directed by Academy Award-winner Kathryn Bigelow, which he starred in with Patrick Swayze.

Keanu Reeves' Iconic Heist Movie Gets Perfect Rating From Former Bank Robber (Despite Its Flaws)
Image
A former bank robber praises Point Break for its depiction of the tension in a robbery situation, giving the movie a perfect 10 out of 10 rating, despite some of its flaws. The movie's depiction of robbers yelling at customers and making them lie on the floor is unrealistic, and would likely deter potential customers from entering the bank. Point Break's portrayal of robbers wearing masks may alert people that a robbery is about to take place, whereas wearing glasses and a hat would provide more element of surprise.

A former bank robber is joining the cult following for Keanu Reeves’ iconic heist movie Point Break as he gives it a perfect rating, despite its flaws in depicting actual robberies. The movie was released in 1991 and tracks FBI agent Johnny Utah (Reeves), who goes undercover to investigate a group of surfers believed to be criminals. Point Break has generated a loyal fanbase over the years,...

Film Review: ‘Reach’
Teens and their parents have a boatload of issues to deal with these days, and it seems like director Leif Rokesh wants to deal with all of them in “Reach.” Every character represents a superficial snapshot of modern strife in one form or another. Though its heart is in the right place when it comes to many of the boldly-portrayed sentiments, the indie melodrama plays like a hokey, weak after-school special rather than a powerful and alarming wake-up call.

Steven Turano (Garrett Clayton) is going through a rough patch on his first day as a high school senior. This year should be a cake walk, but for the perpetually withdrawn, suicidal teen, life is a torturous prison. His only potential escape route is the unopened bottle of prescription pills tucked away in his backpack. Steven is bullied sun up ’til sundown by men that include his disciplinarian detective father Steve...

Some films are almost better experienced with a little bit of background knowledge. I know that goes against the idea of spoilers, but a little information about the plot or the characters can sometimes be the dash of hot sauce in the ramen noodles. It can set it apart from being collectively associated with a particular type of formulaic comfort genre that might have lost its flavor.

Case in point, when “Grabbers’ came out, knowing that being drunk was the only defense against the creatures, made me elevate it above any other contemporary creature flick that I had access to at the time. Then again, there are films, and in...

When speaking about the actors, Director Michael Matteo Rossi told us "Having known Nicole for a few years now and having worked with her on a past film; I was indeed thrilled to have her come on board.
