Osu Attacker May Have Been Inspired by Isis, Authorities Say
Investigators acknowledged Wednesday that Abdul Razak Ali Artan, the 20-year-old Somali refugee responsible for Monday’s horrific attack on the Columbus campus of Ohio State University, “may have been inspired by Isis” and American al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.

However, officials stopped short of characterizing this week’s violence as an act of terrorism.

Authorities told reporters during a press briefing that it was too early to draw any conclusions concerning Artan’s motivations, noting investigators still had “a long road to go” before declaring Monday’s attack on 11 people terrorism. They did, however, acknowledge the style of attack was similar...

Antonio Banderas, Victoria Abril, and Carmen Maura in Baton Rouge (1988)
A number of stars from television, movies, music and media are expressing dismay over the death of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after graphic video of the confrontation with police began circulating online Tuesday. Sterling, 37, was shot outside a convenience store when two police officers responded to an anonymous complaint that a black male selling CDs threatened another man with a gun. Sterling, who was unarmed, died from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and back, East Baton Rouge Parish coroner Dr. William Clark said. “He had a right to sell CDs, and a right to due process, but he was shot.

Protests erupted Tuesday following the fatal shooting of a black man by police outside a convenience store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which was caught on cellphone video and circulated throughout social media. Police responded to an anonymous call at 12:35 a.m. that a man selling CDs in the store's parking lot had pointed a gun at an individual, Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said, according to The Advocate. A 48-second long video taken by a witness shows police telling the man, 37-year-old Alton Sterling, to get on the ground outside the store. A second officer quickly tackles him to the ground.

[Review] Buddymoon
When Flula Borg showed up in the Pitch Perfect 2 trailer I found myself smiling at his success. It was a cameo keen to capitalize on his YouTube DJ fame and unabashedly broken English Chatty Cathy vibe, but it was studio film exposure nonetheless. This cemented the fact that I had become a fan of this crazy German and as such jumped at the chance to see how he’d do as co-lead and co-writer of his own vehicle. Just as the prospect interested me, however, it’ll surely infuriate others. Flula’s shtick is not universally palatable and Buddymoon does sink or swim depending on your enjoyment of it. But that’s okay. This thing was shot in ten days amongst friends. It’s not trying to take the world by storm.

The comedy stars Flula and real life BFF4ever (I don’t know if this is totally...

Saturday Night Live (1975)
Saturday Night Live Finale Review: Fred Armisen Hosts
Saturday Night Live (1975)
This has been a fun, and weird, and uneven, and sometimes upsetting (Remember when He Who Shall Not Be Named hosted?) season, and it has been a pure joy to write about it, in both good times and bad. But as the great Nelly Furtado once sang, all good things come to an end, and so tonight we witness Season 41’s swan song-- guided by Fred Armisen, famous for his own run on SNL, his musical skill on Late Night with Seth Meyers, his IFC shows Portlandia and Documentary Now, and that time we let him play Obama because he was the most ethnic cast member SNL had. Cold Open: Hillary Clinton celebrates her inevitable victory while drinking at a bar with a slightly bitter Bernie Sanders. The two set aside their differences for a dance together. When people talk about how much better SNL was when it was first starting out,...

What Happened to 'Lewis And Clark'? HBO Miniseries Resumes Production in Spring
Casey Affleck
The series depicting the epic early American journey of Meriwether Lewis (Casey Affleck) and William Clark (Matthias Schoenaerts) is back on schedule, Deadline reports. In early August production was halted due to "creative" and "weather-related" reasons, and director John Curran and director of photography Rob Hardy were taken off the project. Now it is set to resume filming in the spring in Calgary with the original cast, though this Plan B, Playtone and Class 5 co-production is still shopping for a director.  Curran was to be HBO's latest filmmaker turned television-maker. HBO has tussled with uncompromising filmmakers before, including most recently David Fincher, who had a rash of projects fall off the network.
