After two successful seasons, AMC has decided it's not ready to say goodbye to one of its most lucrative franchises, and has given the go-ahead for The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3. Premiering back in 2023, the spinoff series stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohen as fan favorites Maggie and Negan, and takes place in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan that's been isolated from the mainland and sees different factions jockeying for control.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, AMC has officially ordered a third season of The Walking Dead: Dead City, which will begin shooting this fall in Boston. The catch is that the current showrunner, Eli Jorné, will be replaced by Seth Hoffman, who served as a writer and co-executive producer on the flagship series. In a statement released yesterday, he said he couldn't be more thrilled to be back, and is eager to get to work on the next chapter of...

The season 2 finale of The Walking Dead: Dead City had a little of everything, from epic battles to heartbreak, but it was far from a proper conclusion to the story. The battle for control of Manhattan's methane still has many players. Both Maggie and Negan are still alive. And of course, Maggie's son Hershel remains under the thumb of the Dama.
The finale ended with a bizarre montage chronicling Maggie and Negan's adventures so far. It was a weird ending that came out of left field. For many fans, it felt conclusive. The last time The Walking Dead had a montage sequence like that was in the series finale of the original show. Are we supposed to take from this that Dead City is over, however many plotlines remain unresolved?
Not so fast. According to franchise head Scott Gimple, the hope is to continue Dead City into season 3. "I will say this,...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 8!The Walking Dead: Dead City star Lauren Cohan has explained the importance of the season 2 finale's major callback moment to the first series. During the end of Dead City season 2, Maggie (Cohan) finds Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in the basement of the church, secretly watching as he lines up both Perlie (Gaius Charles) and Bruegel (Kim Coates) to be executed by Lucille. In the final episode of season two of The Walking Dead: Dead City, viewers witnessed a major moment between two of the show’s central characters. Maggie, who has carried the pain of Glenn’s death for years, finally stood face to face with Negan, the man responsible. But when it came time to end things once and for all, she made a different choice.
The episode featured intense moments, especially as Negan went up against Bruegel, a new and dangerous threat played by Kim Coates. The two were fighting for control over a powerful resource, methane produced by walkers, which could restore energy to parts of New York City.
While that played out, Maggie was sent on a personal mission. The Dama, played by Lisa Emery, pushed her to take out Negan for good. It seemed like Maggie was ready. With her son Hershel urging her on and her grief weighing heavy,...

[This story contains spoilers from The Walking Dead: Dead City season two finale.]
Almost a decade ago, The Walking Dead took a baseball bat to its sprawling ensemble and changed the course of the show forever. Hard as it is to believe, Steven Yeun’s Glenn was smashed out of the story all the way back in 2016. Nearly 10 years on, Lauren Cohan’s Maggie has yet to satisfy vengeance against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the man who giddily beat her husband to death. At long last, Maggie finally had Negan dead to rights in the season two finale of The Walking Dead: Dead City, the spinoff show starring these two blood-crossed rivals — and just as she got up at bat, she decided to walk away from the plate.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Cbr, Coates talked about the part of Sons of Anarchy's story that fans tend to get wrong when talking to him about the beloved crime drama. According to Coates, it's not as realistic as many people believe. "t's a TV show. People kept saying to me [about] Sons of Anarchy, 'Oh, my God, it was so real.' I went, 'So real? Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 8!Scott Gimple has addressed Steven Yeun's potential return as Glenn in The Walking Dead following The Walking Dead: Dead City's season 2 finale. Glenn's death has been hanging over Dead City season 2 since the start, with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) still feeling like she needs to avenge her husband after Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed him in the original show. This became more apparent when she watched the former antagonist kill Bruegel (Kim Coates) in the season finale, the final blow being the same her husband suffered from Lucille.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Tatiana Hullender about The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 finale, chief content officer Scott Gimple explained Glenn's return has been considered. The franchise creative explained how, while the idea for his return exists, the logistics wouldn't be easy to bring about due to Yeun's busy schedule.

In the season 2 finale of The Walking Dead: Dead City, Negan and Maggie once again clash as the battle for control of Manhattan reaches a climax (but very much not a conclusion).
In the ending of last week's episode, Maggie reunited with her son Hershel only to find that he's under the thumb of the Dama, who's revealed to be alive. The Dama has big plans for Hershel, managing to manipulate him into remaining by her side ahead of his own mother. She sees Hershel, a child born and bred after the zombie apocalypse, as the perfect achitect to usher in a new world and society, with his own unique vision.

This post contains spoilers from The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 episode 8.
The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 concludes with several twists, including Maggie's thirst for revenge, Bruegel's defeat, and the loss of a beloved character. The war over the methane reaches its breaking point, and a cliffhanger that will carry over to season 3.
The Dama's control
Maggie awakens, tied up and seeking escape, only to find a key lodged in a filing cabinet. Shortly after accessing the key, Dama enters the room and immediately starts using the same tactics she used on Hershel.
Much to Maggie's dismay, she notices the missing key (most likely because she planted it there) and orders Maggie to hand it over. Maggie frees herself before throwing the key, willing to comply temporarily for the sake of her son.
Dama wastes no time in tormenting Maggie, reflecting on her past with Negan to the point...

The latest season of The Walking Dead: Dead City is coming to a close, and things are looking intense. A new sneak peek shared by Collider shows a tense moment that could shape how the season ends , and maybe even whether the show comes back at all.
In the short clip, Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, appears to be gearing up for a major confrontation. After last week’s cliffhanger, it’s clear he’s not backing down. This week, Bruegel, played by Kim Coates, shows up with his group, and the mood turns serious right away.
When Bruegel asks about The Croat (Željko Ivanek), Negan casually says he’s on “a leave of absence.” What happens next is unexpected, Negan offers a fancy-looking feast to Bruegel and his followers. But the vibe is off. Something feels wrong, and the teaser cuts off before we find out what he’s really planning.

The Walking Dead: Dead City‘s brash survivors Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) might have a tempestuous relationship at best — but AMC’s actors Morgan and Cohan have been working together for close to a decade now, and are good pals. So, we thought it might be interesting to have their Dead City castmates ask them some hard-hitting questions during our latest catch-up. Morgan and Cohan’s co-stars, Gaius Charles (who plays Perlie Armstrong), Dascha Polanco (Major Lucia Narvaez) and Kim Coates (Bruegel), didn’t hold back. What ensues is a conversation about karaoke — including Morgan reminiscing about visiting a Japanese karaoke spot with the cast of 2009 film Watchmen — their early days on The Walking Dead together, and how they keep their onscreen chemistry alive. There’s also a major reveal: Morgan created Negan’s iconic two-note whistle with inspiration from his childhood. “There was no [specific] whistle...

As you know, I’ve been a fan of The Walking Dead franchise since the beginning, and like any long-running property, there have been good and bad parts.
The Walking Dead: Dead City, the second of three post-original series spinoffs, has been the biggest wildcard because it notoriously reunited Maggie and Negan in the same show.
But for the most part, it’s been a chilling new entry that has added another layer to the zombie apocalypse.
(Robert Clark/AMC)
Sadly, The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Episode 4 featured so many eye-roll moments that I questioned whether I was watching one of the latter seasons of Fear the Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 1 was a decent attempt at adding some gas to a tired franchise, but the second season is struggling to have much of a purpose.

At this point in The Walking Dead: Dead City, the board is set and the pieces are moving. Maggie and the New Babylon group are scouting Manhattan with the aim of taking control of methane production, thus controlling the city. Meanwhile, Negan, the Croat and the Dama head to the art museum in an attempt to broker an unlikely alliance.
The newest episode, "Feisty Friendly," is a mixed bag. It has slow, thought-provoking scenes and more than a few epic moments. We are properly introduced to Bruegel (Kim Coates), one of the most eccentric gang leaders in Manhattan. Upon heading to his gang's base inside an art museum, Negan, the Croat, the Dama, and their team attempt to strike a deal with him, trying to safeguard Manhattan against the oncoming New Babylon Federation. There's no denying that the Western genre has been experiencing a renaissance in recent years, thanks in no small part to Taylor Sheridan. Yellowstone was just the tip of the iceberg for the prolific creator, as spin-offs such as 1883 and 1923 helped propel the genre back into the limelight. Since then, a number of other filmmakers have come along to add their voices to the mix, including Peter Berg, the man behind this year's Netflix hit, American Primeval, which got the seal of approval from Sheridan himself.
Speaking with Esquire about a variety of topics, including his Netflix Western, the subject of Sheridan inevitably came up. After all, it's hard to talk about the genre these days without mentioning his influence. While Berg admitted that he and the Yellowstone creator are friends, he never really put his creation in the same category as what Sheridan is doing:

American Primeval, Netflix’s ultra-violent answer to Yellowstone, was released earlier this year as a six-episode limited series. For those who watched it, it appeared that the definitive nature of the bleak ending had sealed the show’s fate. However, according to series director Peter Berg, Netflix is considering bringing back the Western drama for Season 2. Spoilers ahead for the American Primeval finale.
During an interview with Esquire, Peter Berg (Deepwater Horizon) revealed that the filmmaker and the rest of the American Primeval crew are currently trying to figure out how to make Season 2. The series, which is set in 1857 in the Utah Territory, saw most of its main characters perish by the end of the six-episode season. However, as Berg notes, they are still interested in telling another story about the children that survived the cruelty of the wild west. This means that the show's creators have to lock...

Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) family is on The Dama’s (Lisa Emery) mind in an exclusive to Collider sneak peek of this week’s episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City. Titled “Feisty Friendly,” the installment, which arrives this Sunday, will see Negan further pressed to keep up appearances for his new boss, who is happy to hold his family over his head. The Dama is certainly living up to the first word in the episode’s title, as she’s getting a little bit feisty with the leather-clad Negan while he taunts a walker trapped inside a tow truck. Ordering her new enforcer to keep their day in line with his cool, calm, collected, and threatening attitude, The Dama is taken aback when he gives her a sarcastic response. Reclaiming her upper hand, she slyly reminds him that she knows where his family is — forcing Negan to keep...

Sadly, The Real Housewives of New Jersey wasn’t part of the Bravo fall lineup, but it should have been.
We know Season 14 ended in disaster, but there wasn’t a reunion to wrap things up.
Watching the season finale at Rails Steakhouse in two separate rooms didn’t do it for us.

Sure, Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga may never reconcile, but they could co-exist for another season, right?
What about the other cast members who got the short end of the stick because of the shenanigans at Rails?

The quest for the methane begins and perhaps ends just as fast. It seems both Maggie and Negan are in similar positions of being forced into the situation, which may be what saves them in the end. In The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 episode 2 "Lesson," we learn just how threatening The Dama can be, and how irresponsible the New Babylon Federation (unsurprisingly) is. Warning: The Following Contains Mild Spoilers for The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2, Episode 1, "Power Equals Power"
The Walking Dead: Dead City finally made its long-awaited Season 2 premiere last night on AMC after a two-year absence, and fans were not disappointed. Starring Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the fifth series in the franchise serves as a direct sequel to The Walking Dead, which ended in 2022. While fans got to see Morgan's character of Negan in a precarious position after being presented with what many are calling Lucille 2.0, he says there was a lot more to that scene that ended up on the cutting room floor that would have made it have even more of an impact on viewers.
Speaking with Deadline, Morgan noted how far Negan has come since fans were first introduced to him back in 2016, and how he's gone from a ruthless killer to an antihero savior.

It will be complicated by the arrival of a new baddie: Bruegel, who is played by Sons of Anarchy and Prison Break alum Kim Coates.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Tatiana Hullender, Gimple offered insight into how Bruegel and his group of survivors operated and what makes them stand out compared to past Walking Dead villains. Gimple, who is the chief content officer of The Walking Dead universe at AMC, explained all of...

A new clip from The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 shows Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) returning to his old ways and delivering a shock with Lucille during a sermon. Dead City season 2 sees Negan forced to work under the Dama (Lisa Emery) to unite the survivors of Manhattan under her group. His work for her began after Maggie (Laren Cohan) traded him for her son, Hershel (Logan Kim), the latter of whom the Dama threatened to kill if the former antagonist doesn't do as she says.
Now, ScreenRant can share an exclusive clip from The Walking Dead:Dead City season 2, episode 1, showing Negan delivering a sermon to forcibly unite the people of Manhattan. He begins addressing a disgruntled survivor, who grabs Lucille in a rage. However, it electrocutes him, with a soldier using a flamethrower to keep other survivors back. Negan talks about how the Dama's control of ethanol means her...

Negan and Maggie are returning for a second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City. The duo find themselves trapped on the opposite side of the battle. As the duo tries to make it back to one another, things get more challenging and deadlier than ever. As a massive fan of the first season, I was excited to see what the writers, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohen, had in store for us.
The Walking Dead: Dead City S2 Review
The Walking Dead: Dead City picks up shortly after the finale of Season 1. Negan is a captive of the Burazi, who want to hunt down and find Megan and her son, Hershel. Of course, Maggie feels bad for trading Negan for her son, so she begins to hunt down and attempt to save Negan before it’s too late.

Season One laid its cards on the table with a striking premise: Maggie and Negan, once mortal enemies, storm a decaying Manhattan to rescue Maggie’s son, Hershel. By the finale, Negan finds himself shackled as a political pawn under the Dama’s iron grip, while Maggie secures her boy’s safety at the cost of uneasy truces.
Season Two vaults directly into those tensions. Negan initially refuses the Dama’s offer to reclaim power, only to relent when the Croat’s threats extend to his hidden family. Across the river, Maggie bargains with the New Babylon forces—offering herself as collateral to keep Hershel alive.
This installment doubles down on its ambitions. Stretching to eight episodes, it carves out space for both lead characters to confront lingering grief and repressed guilt. New survivor enclaves—ranging from cultured zombie-brawlers to folk-ritual mystics—inject fresh oddities into familiar power plays.

This Sunday, the dead will rise again, with the Season 2 return of The Walking Dead: Dead City. Despite being part of the title, it isn’t the undead that will be the center of the drama on the offshoot of The Walking Dead. Instead, that honor goes to Lauren Cohan’s Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan, with the pair of enemies-turned-friends standing in the spotlight all over again for the highly anticipated sophomore installment. In a fresh set of images released to tease the debut episode, audiences are invited to catch a glimpse of Maggie, Negan, and some of the other faces — both familiar and new — who will bring the story back to life on May 4.
While it’s certainly exciting to get a sneak peek of the action ahead of theshow’s return, the images also indicate what we’ve long been fearing about the sophomore season...
